Great but has its issues

This app is great. I been using it recently to get some self portraits and practicing with it so I can use it with ease. The Wi-Fi access point feature is not functioning properly, though I have gone through the steps and I can’t get the camera to connect to my phone even though both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi. I do not like doing the direct Wi-Fi connection because then my phone loses network connectivity while I’m using the camera.

Not useful for two-camera users

Outside of the ability to upload to the cloud and the Discover tab, I don’t see anything useful added to this app from the previous one. I shoot with two cameras simultaneously the majority of the time, and because Sony cameras don’t come with GPS built in, I only can add geolocation data to pics taken with one camera and then sync it in post. To me, that’s an unnecessary step to my post production workflow. Please, Sony, think of ways to enhance functionality for users who shoot with multiple cameras simultaneously, such as wedding and event photographers.Edit: there’s also no need for a user of the app to have to sign into the account for every little thing. I should just sign in once at app launch, and be done with it.

Massive Improvement with 2.0

Prior to 2.0, I had been using the Imaging Edge Mobile app for my A7iii and now A7iv. It was terrible but it worked sometimes. The Shutter app ($20) was great for my A7iii, but would frequently be unable to connect to my A7iv, which caused great frustration. The new Sony Creators app 2.0 has brought with it massive connectivity and reliability improvements, as well as a general improvement in usability and UI. Of all the camera OEM apps I’ve used, this has to be the best by far.

Overly Aggressive Demands for Photo Access

If you’re like me and only want to use this app to remotely control your camera and see the current feed, be prepared for constant dialogue boxes asking for permission to your photo library. I don’t want to give it permissions as I have no need, nor desire, to transfer videos or photos using this application. I only want remote viewing and control. Is that too much to ask for? Currently yes, as it constantly keeps asking for photos access with no way to disable. I have to click cancel repeatedly when using this application. Developers please give us an option to disable this overly aggressive demand for full access to the photo library. I am never going to give it permission, so please give me an option to use the functionality I need in peace!

What a waste

Can’t believe such a company created such a garbage application. It looks like they haven’t tested it but published it. I can’t even use the app because of the error that you have to agree the privacy policy but it can’t connect to Sony servers.

Upgrade to 2.0 from 1.10 (not 1.01)

Sonys chat support was quite good. The Sony website describes updating from 1.01 to 1.05, then upgrade to level 2.0 . That means, if you have NEVER upgraded your A7IV, you must use the aforementioned process. IF you have previously upgraded, then your A7 IV will have a version 1.10, which confused me a bit. Once Sony Chat Support confirmed I had previously upgraded the Firmware because the 1.10 was showing as the current version, they recommended skipping the 1.05 (attempts by me to load 1.05 were failing) update, and instead perform the 2.0 upgrade immediately.

Needs a bit of work

First, please stop constantly asking for permission to access all photos. I don’t want or need to provide that. The app disconnects during live shooting often, despite being less than 3 feet from the camera. I look forward to seeing improvements. Location Linkage is also unreliable, forcing me to check my phone every time I power on the camera.

Serious bug, unable to access photos

This is likely an oversight. There is no allow photos access in settings. When I do remote images, no copies of images are saved to photos app since there’s no photo access. The images are still in card so it’s not critical but concerning that this important feature is not tested thoroughly and I expect that to be fixed in next update soon. The app seems to be more performant but too soon to say much.

Heartbreaking.. Improvement Needed

I recently purchased a Sony camera to start my “content creator” journey. I have TONS of space on my camera (SD card) and the device I’m importing it to have a large amount of space. However, I can not import a 15GB video from my camera when I have way more than 15GB on my device. It takes forever to load and then gets almost to the end and says “Not Enough Memory Space”. Creating content is how I make my money and this is such a huge set back for me especially being a college student.. which isn’t cheap

Disappointing

This app will not import in original quality even though there is an “option” for it. It downgraded a 48mb photo into 516kb loosing all of the detail and sharpness. The point is to skip the computer, this app is not that replacement I was hoping for.
