EDIT - A great game with a big problem

After downloading just one Hyperbeard game I had to have them all, and Alchademy is one of my absolute favorites! The simple premise, excitement of discovery, calming atmospheric music, and beautiful art just draws me in. Finally figuring out the right combination of ingredients after multiple failures is beyond satisfying. I wish Alchademy was a little world like Animal Crossing I could explore and lose myself in, that's how perfect and charming it is! I would give you guys five stars in a heartbeat if it weren't for the gems. There are so few options to earn them in game, I've only ever found one gem in a bubble. Converting gold for them works decently enough despite being slow and time consuming, especially since as usual Hyperbeard games are more generous than most "freemium" games. The problem I have is with buying gems. I decided to buy some gems to purchase new alchemists, but despite processing my payment I never got the forty gems I was supposed to. Sure, it's only three dollars, but those were my three dollars.EDIT - It happened AGAIN, you guys need to stop this game from eating people's money.

Super cute animations but

The game is great and I appreciate all the cute customizations you can get such as Alchemists and Cauldrons. I love the art style and animations however the one downside is that every time you open the application you have to skip that starting cutscene. This isn’t too much trouble but it would be nice to see it play as an idle animation or be something in the setting you can watch. Another thing that isn’t unbearable but is still discouraging is the amount of time it takes to reveal failed mixtures and all mixtures in general. Every time it makes you wait a few seconds and then shows it failed or after the crafting time it will pull out your creation. The animation It plays is flash and shows off the creation, I do think it was nice the first few times but it got tiring quite quickly. I would prefer a quick animation that adds it to the ingredients/creations tab which would be much more fluid and take a lot less time. Plus you could get the display show in the book if you so choose. Other than that the game is really simple and cute. It requires some brain power but not much and gives you the least amount of info possible to still make it fun and thought provoking. I would recommend this game to essentially everyone, it’s fun for all ages.

Cute and fun!!

I love this game a lot and this art style is so cute! I have basically every HyperBeard game and love them all! The only reason I’m giving this game four stars instead of five is because of lack of things to do. I just combine a couple ingredients and sit for a while...repeat multiple times. I really wish there were mini games like in kleptocats! Where I could keep busy and feel like I’m doing more and get coins for it! I feel like this game is the hardest one to get coins and gems in probably. I would love to be able to get more alchemists and cauldrons but it’s just so hard to get gems and just as hard almost to get coins to buy gems. Other than this though I really love this game!!

Love, but has a bug

I fell in love with this game from the second I played it. Super cute graphics and concept. I was addicted for hours! Then as the time to mix things got longer, I started to watch the ads to get coins. It worked for a while, then started to stop playing. It happens like this: I will tap on a bubble to start the ad, it will pop up to the starting screen, and just never play. There are no "x buttons" on the screen so I have to close out the app. I will try it several times in a row but it will never work. I even tried waiting for a few hours, with no luck. I love this game but this issue needs to b fixed for long-time play. Really wish I could give it 5 stars!!

cute game! love hyperbeards

I used to be addicted to this game when I first downloaded it, because it's cute, I really enjoy the art style both it and Chichens share. After a while, the buzz has sorta worn off, but I still love the game. So, I've not been playing as frequently recently, even with notifications turned on. But today, I must've not played for a few weeks, and it gave me a notification that said: "The Alchademy will be closing soon. Claim your mixture before your alchemist goes on break." Which had me VERY WORRIED. Usually the notifications are very upbeat and use lots of exclamations points, but this notification seemed to sound out of character to me.. The first thing my mind jumped to, I thought maybe they were closing/deleting the game! Which now sounds a bit silly, but it's what I thought at the time. So, I scoured Hyperbeard's twitter feed to see if I could find something to explain if I were just being dramatic or not. I looked at their instagram. Both turned up blank. Then I thought that maybe there would be something about it on the appstore. It seemed a bit farfetched, but maybe they could've left an update in the description that said they would no longer be working on the game, or something to that effect. Also, nothing. So there I am, reading the comments, and I realize there's only one. So, I decide to record my journey here. Au Revoir~

Skinner Box to the MAX

The art is only there because there’s no content otherwise.Try a combo and wait 30 minutes. There’s nothing else to do (except wait ads) and there’s no deeper complexity to it.The element with the most effort put towards it is the ad integration/exploitation of the user. We have:* random popup ad for no reward* a ghost that is very easy to accidentally click on that offers an ad for currency* bubbles that drift over the majority of the screen during wait times which either have free currency or very easy to accidentally click on ads for currency* a popup that takes up a third of screen offering a time-skip if you sit through an ad* harass your friends in exchange for currency every time you hit a milestone* pay real money for currency, or* visit a number of extremely sketchy sites and give your personal information in exchange for currency.I hope the digital ad market crashes and games like this get gutted. Consumer acclimation to this level of exploitation— especially from an EXTREMELY young age based off all the “family-friendly” aesthetics and uncritical reviews— is a massive mistake and we may never know the extent of the damage.Do not play this game. Do not play any games like this.

Fun and cute but seems like it still has some bugs to squash

This is a really cute and fun game. I love the texture details in the painting style. But I have a lot of trouble with it crashing. Often times when I open it, it loads and immediately shuts down until I try opening it a few more times. It’s frustrating and sometimes I just give up on playing it if Im not in the mood to be patient.However, I love the art style and the fact you can uptrade coins for gems to buy skins helps the game feel like im actually achieving things and gives me stuff to actually spend it on, since I’m not too interested in the hourglass purchases for the most part.The only other criticism I have is that sometimes a gold cauldron or alchemist symbol appears and you have to tap it a lot. It would be helpful to have an option to hold down on the symbol and collect the coins that way.

It was good... for the first week

Ok so I’ve had this game for a week, at first I fell in love with it’s cute graphics and simple gameplay, yeah the wait times are a long and it’s annoying that it puts the time into seconds then minutes, but it’s still fun right? While reading reviews before I got the app and the most common complaint was the app crashes a lot, when I started playing there wasn’t any crashes so I assumed it was fixed. But today when I tried to play it the game would just load then crash rinse and repeat. So after that about five times I’m here now writing this review, that’s all I really have so I’m going to try to open the app some more.Edit time: right after writing this the game worked and stopped crashing

Too much wait

Before I continue, let me preface that I really like this game. It’s really cute and imaginative but I really dislike the wait for successful mixtures. Don’t get me wrong, the waiting element is nice but the way it keeps on getting longer and longer is really irritating. If you just kept it at like a minute or something that would be greatly appreciated and much less irritating. It would also make the gameplay a lot smoother. The long waits makes the gameplay kind of halting because I’ll like go do something else and close the game because it’s taking so long to finish. I would really appreciate it if you could consider my suggestions because I feel like these suggestions could really improve gameplay

Meh

The game is fun an all but sometimes they hold your coins and you don’t get them after a new creation. Not sure if this is a bug or not but it really irks me when this happens. Sometimes I’ll be tapping on those giant time-sensitive coin things continuously (understandably as I should) to get the most out of them and then an ad (that I DIDN’T CLICK ON) will pop up in the middle of me doing so. The ads in this game are pretty long, so when this occurs, by the time the ad is finished, the giant coin will be gone and I’ll be robbed of my actual coins (the ones I would’ve been collecting if the ad hadn’t popped up in the first place). Other than those few irritating factors the game is pretty fun and it’s cool to see the things you can create when using two other ingredients.
