The app keeps crashing!!!!

First off, I will like to note that the update for this app is totally bogus. It removed the setting that can send notification for when the bus is approaching in a certain time of the users’ desire. The whole point of the app is for it to notify the user when the bus is approaching. Second off, the updated app is extremely unstable. What I mean by this is that it will crash all of a sudden. With luck, you may be able to return to the app. However, often times it does NOT. As of 7/12, the app kept crashing and it won’t let me in at all. My propose solution: bring back the old app or fix this new app that doesn’t work!

They’re always moody (too late or too early)

Today my bus was 2 hours late and when it got here they gave us 3 minutes to get out before they left us. Other days when I’m at school, they come earlier than when I schedule and get mad at me because I can’t leave the school building until it’s time to leave (which is the time a schedule). Sometimes they would even leave me at the school with no way home. Other times they come an hour or two later. I’ve never gotten a bus on time, but I don’t mind it being a few minutes of. As a student I felt like I had a little control over how I get to and from school.

A big step in the wrong direction

Forced to download this new app after removing functionality from rider app. The new UI is very non-intuitive. Overlapping routes no longer show multiple colors to indicate such. Clicking on busses no longer show you their route or the time they will be at a certain stop. Clicking on the bus stops no longer show all the routes serving that stop nor the time they will be there. You have to select each route individually. Simple actions in the app require you to tap load multiple times when before it was one action. When the route isn’t running it simply disappears off of the app instead of being greyed out or something similar. All of this combined with more make using this app frustrating and borderline unusable. I’m a student that depends on this to get around campus. Please bring back the rider app or at least many of the features that were left out.

Often laggy, inaccurate

I’m not sure if this has to do with the local buses and less with the app, but when using it I have to keep in mind that the bus is likely pretty far ahead from where Transloc says it is, even with great wifi/cell service. There have also been times that a bus has gotten frozen on my screen then jumped very far down the route. I have missed buses because of this as I have to walk a while to my stop and use the app to determine when I should head out. Also, it’s very confusing to see when buses are arriving. The ‘arriving in x minutes’ feature is never accurate and, if the app thinks it can predict what time a bus will be at your stop, it won’t tell you the actual scheduled time. The app is better than nothing but it could use a lot of work.Edit: I would like to add just a couple of things. One, there have been some mornings recently where information will not update at all in the app and I have to go to the bus system’s website to keep track of buses. Two, I am getting frustrated over the fact that, when it is working, I cannot tell TransLoc what routes matter to me. I take the same buses every day, yet when I reopen the app I am shown random routes nearby and not the ones I choose to see every day. As I said before, this app can use a lot of work.

Now just poor - disappearing and reappearing bus routes.

Routes show up sometimes, but more often than not this app says no route is available at a location which is served by 5 different busses. Another major flaw - even with great WiFi and cellular reception, the user location feature places the user 3 towns over from where they actually are. Another flaw - cannot touch a point to drop a favorite location pin - doesn’t exist. And you can’t manually choose a route to look at, if the app doesn’t “find” it, it’s as if it doesn’t exist. Not conducive to knowing where your bus is. And of course, no landscape mode for iPadOS. Who is responsible for this broken, poorly conceived “upgrade”? Needs a MAJOR improvement.

5 Star Review Awards!

Any reasonable person can see that most if not all genuine reviews this app has received give it the worst possible rating. Yet the developers clearly paid a little for &/or spent some time concocting the sprinkling of absurd 5 star reviews, and also probably lucked into a few written by folks who truly don’t know any better, or maybe wanted to be polite. I felt that these obviously phony, sadly ignorant, & either way highly entertaining bits of nonsense deserved some recognition. So it is my great pleasure to announce the First Ever Amusingly Ridiculous Review Content Awards! In 3rd place, the definitely elderly gentleman who signed the review with his full name.Next, in 2nd place- This absolutely real person is a real student at a totally not made up school. He says the app is a huge help getting around campus, because he doesn’t have a car. I guess that entirely nonfictional location is one place it actually works... So give it up for the Runner Up: “Grad Student” at “North East University!” And finally, the Grand Prize Winner, by unanimous decree of the judge. This was the clear champion, the review that perfectly expresses the spirit of this coveted award. The author is a genius, beyond all doubt, as well as the Village Oaf somewhere in Appalachia. The words say it all:“see bus, no more afraid”

Why?? New app is terrible

The old Rider app was perfectly fine. I have so many issues with this app that was forced upon us. First, UI functionality is awful, eith the old rider app, selecting the stops would show what routes service it and the time left before the next would arrive. The new app does not do that as one has to tap into the stop and bring up individual routes, adding extra steps and not even allowing for a comparison of the routes. Next, the routes colors do not intermingle like the Rider app used to, only showing a single color even if multiple routes service it. Additionally, the shuttle icons are big and bulky, and even the timing is inaccurate. Finally, the routes don’t even load up half of the time, making me miss my shuttle. If I had to give serious feedback, just bring back the old app, it was a better one across the board.

The old app had more functionality — now I’m flying blind.

I use several routes at different times and can’t figure out how to find the upcoming or tomorrow’s schedules. Tomorrow I need to ride earlier than I usually do.. how can I find the bus stop times for earlier buses? With the old app I could look at departures for a few different routes with little effort. How do I plan for the morning if I don’t have departure times? Since I don’t get up until I have to, besides getting up early to check the upcoming buses, I have no way to know when to be at the stop! If I could see a schedule, I could plan my wake up time based on the bus stop arrival. Different is not always better.

Old app please

The previous rider app my university used was much more intuitive. I liked the ability to quickly click on a bus to see which stops if would be going to and when. Now you have to calculate which bus is going to where by guessing. Once you select a route you also have to clear all your progress instead of pressing “back” to see all the routes again. The old app was much more UX friendly, but it’s forcing me to use the new. Please either make the old version available again or bring basic functions to the new app and I’ll change my review!

Please return the old Rider app

As noted by many users, the new TransLoc app is great if you just want to know when the next public transit of any kind in your immediate area is coming. If you want to look at a route you AREN’T immediately standing on or figure out a SPECIFIC route, well, you’re out of luck. I used to be able to look AHEAD of where I EXACTLY was, but, like the Start button on Windows, wiser developers than I removed a beloved easy to use, powerful feature, then told us why we didn’t need it when we users said we missed the feature and didn’t like the interaction with the new feature, you removed one of your best features and will probably tell us why this one we don’t like to use is better and we’re dumb for wanting the simpler older tool back until you cave after way too much complaining. Please bring back the old map/route feature from Rider.
