Amazing fitness app with endless options

I started using the Gym Shark fitness app a few months back when I was able to still go to the gym. It wasn’t until I began my home workouts that I really had a chance to explore all the features and workouts. Now, I recommend this app to all my friends and family who are also working out at home. The Gym Shark coaches are amazing and the workouts leave you with an amazing burn. There are different levels depending on where your fitness level is so you can start with beginner workouts and move up from there. I really like the fact you can search the different workout by body part or even by the coach. You can create your own workout plan by selecting different options and it allows you to track your progress as you go with sets and lbs so I no longer had to use by “notes app” to keep track. In my opinion, this is an amazing fitness app with endless fitness opportunities.

Great for first time gym members

Recently moved and decided to join a gym for the first time in my life and as such I have no idea what I am doing. I love this app mostly for its library of exercises that use all of the various gym equipment. The short videos showing exactly what to use and how to do the moves is extremely helpful for people like myself that are just starting to go to the gym. I also like being able to create your own work out and the fact that you can edit them if they just aren’t working for you(I found myself needing to adjust the equipment between exercises when I tried to do the workout in the original order that I had so I shuffled them around to make the flow better).

Could be better

The reason I am giving this 3 stars is because there are some key flaws this app could work on. This app gives you the luxury of creating an exercise program to your strengths. What needs work in this part is that it is missing some pretty basic exercises that everyone has heard of. It is missing an edit too where you can change the reps to seconds, for example, knee to chest exercise can be done as a stretch instead of reps to relieve back problems. Another problem would be actually starting the exercise program. It tells you to start a warm up without a simple warm up program to follow or create. Then you have to simple input the reps you do in between each exercise. Then it tells you there's a cool down with no simple cool down exercises or stretches for you to follow. If they were to fix these, this app would be perfect.

Amazing App, Improvements/Suggestions

I absolutely love this app. I use it for every workout and have since the app started a couple months back. I love the video tutorials, workout library, ability to add exercises, along with all the other amazing features. I think where this app could be improved is in the social aspect as well as the tracking progress. I wish there was an ability to add friends through the app, so then you have the flexibility to share and send workouts to friends to challenge them to your workouts. There is a feature currently similar, but you can't share your workout with the reps and weights you hit without taking a bunch of screenshots. It would nice just to simply share to your gym buddies via the app. It would also be cool to have a graph of progress made over time by different exercises. Currently it only promotes max in 3 major lifts (squat bench and deadlift) having a more comprehensive and detailed list would motivate gym goers even more! Love the app and can't wait to see all the improvements through the future

Love!

I felt the need to review this app as I have on many other exercise apps and I have to say... I personally feel this app is going to be one to pull ahead of the others once it gets up and going. This app is still considered a baby and in the process of becoming something great but I already recommend it to friends. I love the workouts given by each gymshark athlete and how you can build your own custom workouts. This app gives you freedom to create your own workout or follow along and that’s awesome. I love that it’s not 30$ a month and is extremely affordable for those of us in school and still trying to make a living while trying to maintain our exercise goals as well! I gave 4 stars only due to the fact like I said above, this app is still developing and I would love to see some improvements like being able to track on my Apple Watch since that’s what I use in all my workouts and I’ve never been one to carry my phone around the gym. I am excited to see where this app goes and what they have in store for us!

Great custom workout app

First off I wanna start by saying I gave this a 3 star review not because it’s a bad app but instead because it’s unfinished IMO. This is the first one I’ve seen where you can easily make circuits, super sets and even giant sets HOWEVER you can’t add drop sets or even add notes or the workouts as you create them. You can add the notes during the workout and at the end but not before and to me that’s crucial because I make my workouts in advance and so if I’m thinking of something then chances of me remembering when I’m doing the workout are slim to none. The workout index is fairly decent however their are a lot things still not added to it which complicates making custom workouts. If there was a feature where you could make your own exercise and categorize it by muscle group that would be nice. Overall it’s very simple app to use and I recommend it still.

Need More Options!

I love Gym Shark and don’t want to delete this app but y’all need home style based workouts! If someone had access to a decent gym this app will work great. However, I’m working out in an apartment smaller gym. I would get a membership but I already have a membership at a CrossFit gym. I want a fitness app to use for days I either can’t make CrossFit and or just want to work out an extra day or so. I was looking for 2, 3 day plans for this week and they include a lot of bar bell and rope style work outs. Things I don’t have access to without my CrossFit gym. Keep the workouts that are already on here but add more workouts that require just basic bar bells or majority no equipment! Think it’ll grow your user base too, more people will want to use this app and it won’t be for just my benefit. Don’t make me delete this app. Gym Shark! LoL

Best Workout App

First off, I fell in love with Gymshark brand last year and even more so when Lulia on Instagram became one of their athletes (she’s amazing) so I jumped at being part of the app. I love being able to search a wide variety of exercises and a lot that can be done at home or gym ones can be modified for at home. You can follow their current athletes workouts or make your own. I think my fav part of the app though is how easy it is when you start a workout to go through it with how many sets/reps to your liking, how much weight being used etc. it’s just a breeze and makes keeping track of what I’m doing so much easier than texting it on the iPhone notepad 🙄 thank you Gymshark! But I gave it one less star because I’d like to see more athletes and over time maybe some other variations of workouts otherwise it may get dull on that part of it.

I’ve been sticking’ with this one

The library of individual exercises is the main reason why I switched. Not only does it incorporate strengths, but stretches and that was key. This application seems to constantly update, taking into consideration the improvements that can be made. If I had any suggestions it would be to continue to update the individual exercise library. Allow for two different timers, one for after a set is done and another when the exercise as a whole is done. As I continue to use this application more I’ll come back and give more suggestions.*Update*As I dive deeper into using this application I have a few more suggestions that I’ve noticed would make a huge difference. The ability to search your progress when already starting a workout. I find myself often times wondering what my last weight was in previous gym sessions, unfortunately once you start a workout you lose the ability to do anything else in the application. Which brings me to a similar issue, when creating two different workouts that may carry the same exercise the progress doesn’t display for both. Somehow making progress and stats a little more on the forefront and available during workouts would be of tremendous help.

The only FREE Fitness app with No subscriptions

I love this app. It does need some minor improvements but I’m not complaining because it’s the ONLY FREE fitness app in the App Store. It does need some minor improvements or upgrades. Such as if I want to do Kettlebell workouts, there not much to choose from at all. Another thing to add or improve would be if I just want to work on a specific muscle group such as biceps, and I want to target each part of that muscle group there’s nothing really to choose for different workouts for that particular muscle group. Again I’m not complaining because it’s free and I truly LOVE THIS APP. I also love that they show videos on how to properly do a workout without injuring yourself such a variations of Deadlifts.. Thank you Gymshark
