Fun with complications

The ride is fun, easy to start, even easy to see where you can START your ride (location of parked scooters). Getting the ride to stop is the hard part. Parking is strange and very limited. I end up having to walk about 2 miles to get where I was going because scooter parking areas are so limited. This is a bad feeling considering I have picked up a scooter from a “no-parking” zone in a homeless camp. I tried to park in front of my resort hotel but the app didn’t like it. People were literally waiting for me to get off so they could ride. I’m too old and fat to walk 2 miles every time I want to get somewhere on one of these. If parking gets fixed I’ll be a near daily driver while in Hawaii.

App Won’t Work

Only works maybe once every 3 days. The rest of the time there are no bikes available in the city according to the app. If you do find one and try to unlock it the app will come back with something about the bike being offline. They also turn off all bikes after 10 pm as they are always offline, city wide, at 10 sharp. This is super inconvenient if you are just trying to get home fast after work. I have written customer service twice and only ever got the automated response. Fun idea if it worked. Update I have now been locked out of my account because the app crashed during a ride and I was unable to to take a picture. I am not being charged a fee for this and unable to ride until I go through EVERY bike in Dallas track down this random one bike and take a picture. Even though it was their error that caused it. I have had to call my bank for new cards because of them. DO NOT DOWNLOAD

Battery and software problems

There were about ten bikes lined up down the block from my downtown Austin apartment. I figured they must all have just been charged and dropped off… wrong. We activated 5 or 6 bikes to find a second bike that had close to half a charge. Even with two bars of battery, once you get going the charge drops way down. The bikes barely had enough power to make it over a gentle hill. After two blocks one of he bikes stoped working, so we found another. After a mile and a half, the replacement bike stopped working. That left my Partner on foot while I went looking for another replacement. None were to be found, so we decided to give up.I parked my bike and swiped to end the ride, but the app froze, it took me about three minutes to get the app to end the ride. The app clocked 19 minutes and a distance of 3 plus miles for $8. In fact I had actually traveled 1.5, ridden under 10 minutes, and wasted 8 minutes on battery and software issues. I’ll stick with a scooter next time. Faster, more reliable, more fun and less frustration. Just my first and last experience with wheels.

Horrible Customer Service

I rented one of these things on a monthly basis and what they gave me was a piece of crap that had 2100 miles on it and has been beat to death…prior to my taking possession of this heap it had obviously been crashed, the brakes don’t work well…looks like it has been run over…the battery won’t hold a charge the wheels don't hold air…I’ve called customer service every single day since I took possession I have heard back from them that once I have written a review on their end of ride check out list and it has not been good at all not once… I’ve heard nothing back absolutely nothing…This has been a colossal waste of time and money it has been so frustrating that I wish that I could just throw the thing in the garbage but that can’t happen… What can happen is me going to the pick up location tomorrow and politely asking for a new on they can forget my renewing any contract whatsoever and that I will review them every single chance I get…oh and a report to the BBB…stay away from this company, it is awful…

👎👎👎Spend 19 minutes trying to end my ride

I Was ridding the bike for 7 minutes to get to my work and then spent 19 minutes trying to end my ride but the app claimed it was a no parking zone, when I did move to another location it still didn't end my ride because it said there was a no parking zone but it had all of West Hollywood highlighted as a no parking zone and that's where I found the wheels. I have used wheels few times times in this area and location and all the time I had an issue to unlock and finish but today had different experience, Got charged for 26 minute ride. They really needs to be a better way to contact for help and the app needs to have more features/improvement so if things like this happen you can still end the ride and not continuously get charged just because it won't end the ride. I am gonna uninstall this app and strongly recommend to don’t use it.

activation fee = bogus & Unnecessary but the $ per minute is worth it.

Honestly, the dollar should be imposed on a minimum minute usage basis on the back-end. Think about it...if my bike runs out of juice or if my trip is longer than most, I have to pay that fee again and again!? What if your bike just freezes, I have to eat that fee!? And what, I’m gonna really chase you down for a single one dollar issue?! You guys are smart but let the people eat CAKE! !! CHARGE THE ONE DOLLAR SAUSAGE FEE ON THE BACK END IF CUSTOMERS DO NOT USE THE BIKES FOR A MINIMUM OF YOUR TOTAL COST @ ur BREAK EVEN POINT. just sayin...until then, 4-stars. I am deliberately trying to not pull off two stars for this issue. Ok. Enjoy. The bike is pretty darn fun guys and it’s much faster then those cheapie little scooters that break your hands from hitting Los Angeles potholes with concrete tires. You know what I’m talking about! And you guys want to level up with the cheapie scooter company’s and charge the EXACT SAME FEE FROM FRONT TO BACK!? Cmon be original!

Company will put your life at risk

I was excited to try this company just like many others. Unfortunately there’s not enough reviews when it comes to the customer service of this company. First off the battery on their bikes is terrible. The battery will last you about 1 hour if you’re lucky. They then want to charge you a fee to replace the bike for another one which is just as bad as the first one. My bike was unfortunately stolen and well this company doesn’t even have a phone number you can reach only email.... so be ready to get an answer after three days or more. I waited on the cops that night and they basically told me that I needed to get the value of the bike from the company in order for me to be able to make a police report. The company after responding 5 days later completely dismissed that. They instead sent me the location of where the bike was at and told me to go retrieve it. They wanted me to put my life at risk to get this rental back. The location was at a projects.... what was I suppose to do? Knock on every apartment till I found the bike? The company as a whole are callous towards their customers. I don’t want anyone else going through the experience I went through which is why I’m speaking up. Thank you for reading.

Scam - bike locks up and charge you time locked

Contact: “Better Business Bureau Scam Tracker” Update: Customer service “Felicia” responds 2 days after I called for support while the bike was frozen and miles away! Great job of following up while customers are in need of help! WARNING - This is a Scam operation with a Fake customer service rep! DO NOT BE LEFT STRANDED — - - - - - - - - At first it was working but then all of a sudden it locked up and I couldn’t move it and I was dragging it until I could finally connect to their extremely rude “Answering service” who was so nasty and yelled at me saying there is “NO LOCATION FOR HONOLULU” yet I am using it in Honolulu and regret it. While I’m on the line with this rude person, I am being charged and they charged me multiple times then credited it then multiple times and credited it. But never responded or refunded the time that they scammed me while the bike was locked up and frozen inexplicably. Do Not Use because you could be miles away from where they will force you to park and you’ll have to drag it back while being charged! Pure scam

Awful choice for monthly electric scooter rental in San Diego

I would say that the customer service is horrendous but that would imply that they have customer service. They don’t. There is absolutely no way you can call when you have a problem and you have to wait for email exchanges from somebody if you’re lucky to get a response at all. When I went to the shop in San Diego to pick up the bike, there was no obvious storefront no door to knock on and despite having filled out the arrival form, no one showed up for about 20 minutes to greet me and hand me the bike. Of course I couldn’t call anybody to find out what was going on. Two days before my rental ended, they locked me out so I couldn’t use it anymore and sent a guy to come pick it up on the wrong day. The guy picked it up was nice enough. Don’t use this company for a monthly rental. You’ll be very sorry you did.

Great Experience and easy to use!!!

A group of us took a trip to Venice for the weekend where we noticed the Wheels bikes everywhere we went. Many people were riding the bikes around the area and it looked like they were having such a good time that we had to try it for ourselves. After a little bit of shopping and eating around we decided to give them a try. We were all able to get signed in and begin riding within less than 20 seconds. The experience was great and felt very safe. We rode the bikes through the Venice boardwalk which has a bike lane and the view was breathtaking in the evening which was made even more enjoyable by being able to ride Wheels. For anyone looking to try these bikes I would highly recommend them. They feel very safe and are a lot of fun!
