Unable to Upload

Everyone seems to be having the same problem. Cannot upload photos through the app in iPhone. Developer keeps responding to all with “give me your email and contact information”. I have done this in the past, spent hours having them tell me to reboot everything, was escalated, and ultimately didn’t work until they fixed the bug in the app. They do not update the app frequently enough and this is clearly a division of the company that is not supported/staffed adequately. Do yourself a favor and stay away from meural. When it works it is great, but for months of the year when the app needs to be updated and it is neglected by the manufacturer it is garbage. Without software that works the hardware is a paper weight. Awful app awful updates. And to preempt the response from the developer, please do not ask to contact me. You wasted hours of my time last time and it ultimately worked when you spent the time on the back end updating the app. Sooooo just fix the app.

Vastly improved app

After an unconscionably long time, the app has finally been completely redone, thank goodness. After more than a year of limping along with an virtually unusable iOS app (I finally got into the habit of uninstalling/reinstalling it before each and every use because otherwise it was in a perpetually frozen state), at long last it has been redone and the new version is much, much better. I’m once again able to control the screen from my phone, and the playlists are a pleasure since you can have many of them (it used to be you could have a max of eight), so I can organize content by themes, orientation, or whatever else I think will be useful, and then scroll through to see and choose individual images to display. I do completely love my Meural and the content (though I miss the original editorials we used to get), and can only hope that Netgear will do a better job of keeping the app functional as operating systems evolve. Still on the wishlist: improving the support interface on Netgear’s site. Heaven forbid we have to weather any future protracted app issues with no means to resolve them. The product itself along with the content deserves 5 stars; the still-fresh experience with poor support demotes my rating to four (but I’m hopeful for better performance going forward).

Great product, horrible customer service

Love everything about this, but the customer service is atrocious. I spent 48 minutes on a live chat to get nowhere on a mistaken $80 charge for two collections there were included in my membership. Absurd, at the end of the 48 minutes, a ticket for this problem was created by the incredibly unprepared agent. I end the chat, open the ticket in my email to find that I needed to elaborate on what happened because all the agent wrote was: “ verify customers membership and want refund for the downloaded art” . Pretty unbelievable. I hope they refund me the $80 because besides that (though it’s not light - customer service is incredibly important), it’s a good product.UPDATE: after 3 weeks, they reimbursed me for the artwork so though slow, it was effective.UPDATE 2: My membership stopped working again though I pay for it monthly (and already paid for this month), and it won’t see that I have a membership and wants to charge me for everything. The Customer Support is incredibly not free and I have to pay for a bug they have. If you guys put out a product that you’re not 100% certain works all the time with no problems, you cannot make people pay for customer support. Unbelievable.

App is one of the worst interfaces I’ve seen

Ok, first off the Canvas frame itself is gorgeous! (When you do get your pics to appear) This app is simply bad! It crashes no joke every time I used it so far. Almost unusable to upload your own pics. This is how it goes:Hit upload, gross your fingers... opens your photos, ok click one or more then hit to send to canvas then freezes. Have to close app and hope it went. Then after you check it freezes again. Close app and repeat. “WHAT the heck”!!! And with no instructions on how to use the memory card feature is a big head scratcher......!If you love beautiful pics displayed (when it works) and absolutely love a frustrating interface download and get the frame. Or my recommendation, Wait till they fix what seems to be only an hour of coding to correct..To the developer; thank you for taking the time to post a follow up response for me to reach out to you. This seems to be a little more than an auto response for all that seem to have issues with your app. All I want to know is how to use the SD card function and when the app will be fixed instead of a possible up-sell to purchase a subscription...? So when will the app be fixed and where can I find a PDF on the SD card usage. Thank you.

Would be great if it worked with iPhone Max

At the moment, everything in the app works with my new iPhone XS Max, EXCEPT (and this is a biggie) anything you select under Categories in the browse tab. Whatever you select, it just freezes the app and the only thing you can do is close the app, quit it, and restart. If you select anything there again, it will keep locking up the app. I’ve tried everything to see if I could get it to work: restart my iPhone, try over WiFi, try over cellular, etc..On the bright side, I called Meural and spoke to a nice woman that took down the issue described. Hopefully a fix will be coming soon.Update: I tried the app on my iPhone X as well. It use to work, but now has the same problem as described above. It is obvious now that the problem most likely stems from the latest iOS software upgrade to version 12.

Added “Share” option from iPhone/iPad Share screen!

Looks like the latest update added the ability to share and upload a photo directly from your iPhone/iPad photo library instead of having to start from within the Meural app and try and find a photo you want to upload (which was difficult to do since there were no sort options)...thank you!!! Keep up the great work. Great product! The only thing missing from the new share/upload option is the ability to edit the picture to add filters etc to it after it is uploaded..you can crop but for some reason you are not able to edit for color etc from the edit option in the upload like you can when you upload directly from the app...can that be added? Thank you.

People should come first - customer support and cancelation policy horrible!

I was so excited to get my Meural canvas II. As a lover of the arts, I was excited to be able to display my own art and browse their catalog. I was hoping for a great experience but instead received the worst customer service when I called the support line. I received a box that was clearly opened and when I contact them they offered no exchange and refused to offer a discount customary of buying used or open boxes items. The app is still a bit buggy and shut off once or twice in the middle of using it. The subscription can only be canceled by customer support which after spending over an hour on hold with no compensation to make up for their product not meeting expectations you can see why it would be better to be able to manage the subscription through Apple. Unfortunately, I have now started to look for other services. I think to build a successful product and brand requires respecting and listening to people who took the time buy your products. I didn’t feel heard or seen as a consumer and as such highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this product until it offers better customer support and enables subscriptions through trusted services with a cancellation option that does not require reaching out by phone on hold 1+ hours to cancel a subscription.

Documentation and controls a mess

Ouch. I am principally interested in loading and displaying my own photography on the Canvas. The app and my. Meural site are confusing, limited in scope and wholly inadequate to the task of guiding a user thru the features. And I'm not a novice at deciphering interfaces and getting things done in digital realms. After trying to parse out what makes an album distinct from a playlist, after muddling unsuccessfully for long stretches how to get a jpg to actually arrive on the Canvas screen, after seeking in vain for instructions on how to load images from a SD card, I realized this was going to be a struggle. I called support for help with the SD card loads, and found out there is a cache of Kniwledge articles available, somewhere, somewhere hidden from the app and so-called documentation it seems, and that offered a solution. Which didn't work. Egad--WHO did Netgear employ to design and implement a user interface?

Not an “all or nothing” 5-star review... it’s great!

For years I’ve thought about purchasing cheap TVs and mounting them vertical to find that movie house vibe of new posters based on today’s featured movie. Every movie spot deserves at least one for ambience.First night we had it, watching Netflix’s Dark, I tossed the promo poster on Meural to feel the vibe.Watch a movie with 3-4 Meural showing art house posters and playlists for the movie itself? Rich man’s dream, but now you’re talkin’.All seriousness, Meural removes the issue of “can I be happy with that image there and let it influence my day.” Now each wall has unlimited inspiration.

Flaws in the APP

Let me begin by mentioning that the Meural photo frame is an excellent piece of hardware. For me, the issues are with the Meural app.First off, the app will not upload any photos that are synched from a MacOS device. I keep a large library of photos on my Mac Mini and then synch selected albums to my iPad and iPhone. On both devices, these photos fail to upload to the Meural website. Photos that were taken or saved to either device upload as expected. The only way that synched photos can be uploaded for the frame is by using a browser. They work fine.Second flaw appears on the iPad only. On the iPad, the Meural app only displays in Portrait view. It will not rotate to Landscape regardless of the orientation of the iPad.
