App is awful and Customer service is even worse

lMy friend and I decided to take a trip on the train and purchased our tickets on the app. We arrived at the station and boarded the train, just as soon to find out from the lady commentating that the train would be stopping for service at a city before our stop and wasn’t even going to our destination. We didn’t want to get stuck in a random city unsure of if there would be any connecting trains there available to take us to our destination, so we frantically got off the train. When purchasing our tickets there was nothing on the app to tell us that the train we had purchased tickets for wasn’t even going to the place we bought them for, so we had no clue of this until right when we stepped on the train. Not only was our morning ruined, but they denied our refunds and kept our money, because “ Planned service disruptions (i.e. track maintenance), are not eligible for compensation” I would normally agree with this, but the problem is when purchasing our tickets there was nothing letting us know there would even be a planned service disruption. If we knew this, we just wouldn’t have bought the tickets in the first place.

Needs Improvement

There’s a lot good convences with the APP no standing in a big line worrying about missing your train. Or arriving to a station where the ticket machine doesn’t work, try to tell that to the conductor 🫤What I don’t like as after buying a ticket I lose the ticket scan screen and then I can’t get the screen back unless I log out and log back in. This is frustrating for me and the conductor. Another issue why do they promote a $15 summer ride and 5 days after it starts there is no way to purchase it on the APP🤔Maybe if Metrolink would fix these issues more people would ride the train.

Don’t get ripped off

You would think that you can use an app to buy a future ticket and activate it when you planned to use it. Not with this gem of an app. You must use it by 3 AM the next morning or you just donated your fare towards Metrolink. Try getting your money back. They claim that somewhere in the app, they tell you you must use it on the day you purchased it. Wherever that donation is going, it’s not going to customer service nor towards creating an app that people can trust.

Whoever was in charge of the design for this app needs to be fired!

This app shows a complete disregard for basic convenience. Never in my entire life have I not been able to look at train schedules before purchasing tickets. As well as that, it baffles me that no where on the app is there any indication of the expiration time limit that applies to one way tickets. Had I know that the tickets I was buying for a week in advance would expire at 3 AM the next morning, I would have never used this completely useless app, and my money would not be wasted. This aspect of Metrolink’s ticket buying process itself is completely irrational to me. Why is it that I am unable to buy a ticket for a future trip on this app? My suggestion for Metrolink is to address these issues, otherwise I can’t fathom using this feature any time soon in the future. Overall, an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience. My advice for people considering using this app is to save their time and money, and use a different train service.

Missing a lot of features

This is definitely a lot better than a paper ticket as you have less of a chance of losing or damaging it. The app gets the job done but it really needs some more things like schedules, current advisories and a Paypal payment option. Also, if you plan to use the Metro transfers you have to get them from the ticketing counters. Just ask, as it won't work with metro tap card readers. I have a monthly pass and I just have to get a tap card every month at union station.

Would be great if it were 1985

This app would be great if it were 1985. They push and push for riders to use the app but with so many people riding to Union Station LA and no support for subway use this is such a waste of time. That and the terrible UI/UX it is actually worse when the conductor comes to check tickets because it takes extra time for people to get out their phone, open the app, etc while he/she waits to scan the digital ticket. I wish Metrolink would spend less time developing a useless app and more time on keeping their trains on schedule. I would gladly use paper tickets in exchange for the trains being on time at least once a week.

App

It’s a really great app. It’s very convenient when having to buy a ticket and the machines don’t work or are out of service at the stations. It’s missing some features though like allowing to use promo codes on the app when getting a ticket. Other than that, I think it’s a very good app. I also think it would be better if they added the alerts on the app as well rather than just twitter.

Worked as it should

As a first time user, taking Flyaway from LAX to take the Metrolink (from LA union station to Moreno Valley), I had no issues buying a ticket and using the app. Maybe the recent update addressed the problems most users have complained about. So far I had no issues. Will def use again!

Amazing but could be better

This app is super handy for buying tickets and looking up schedules. It’s much easier to buy through here and not worry about loosing a paper ticket. However, if Metrolink could make it so train tracker and the other options were built into the app that would be great. Right now all they do is direct you to their website with your browser. This should all be done in app. I would also like to get specific notifications for the trains I will be taking. Twitter is great at providing updates but it would be nice if this app could notify me only about my train.

Not as convenient as you think

The only useful thing this app is for is keeping your ticket on your phone in case you ever lose or forget the paper one. And okay, if you’re in a hurry, no more waiting in long line to get a ticket, just purchase on your phone and you have it automatically. Other than that, the developers need to find a way to integrate everything else on this app. Whenever you click on something like, a schedule or advisories, they take you to the website. You also can’t receive direct notice/advisories from the app, you’d have to check on Twitter and sign up for their notifications if you want to be updated in real time. Like, what’s the point?! You really have to open so many pages instead of having a seamless platform. Please do better.
