Wonderful game! Just needs a few tweaks.

I was skeptical to download this at first, but I’m glad I did. I love RTS/SLG games like this. The art and humor is this game is great, the ability to grow is wonderful, it doesn’t have obscene power numbers like some games do where if you train 300 troops you gain 1 trillion power, research skills and passive stats are realistic, not pay-to-win but offers some good purchase options, storyline is good, it’s all great!We do need an auto translation for chat, a search button on the map to find a specific node (dungeon, resource, camp, etc), and a few bug fixes (such as clan help button showing that people need help but there’s no current help needed; delayed status notifications in game of when buildings are upgraded but the upgrade was already finished minutes prior, etc.). This game is totally worth trying! It has a lot to offer and I can’t wait to see future updates!

Good game, but pay to win

Like many strategy games like this, Kingdom Maker is pay to win (p2w) as well. It does a better job of not being harsh about it by making you spend money to shield. They took that concept out. But the paywall hits you when you need certain resources. As you progress, you have to spend hours every day to get a CHANCE to get the resources needed to build. It’s designed so you get most, but not all, resources by spending time. But there are some rare resource that take time and then a chance to get. That’s the paywall because if you don’t pay, you fall WAY behind those that regularly pay making free to play (f2p) impossible to compete. It is nice that bigger players are penalized for attacking smaller players. This game has great potential but let’s face it, it’s built for maximum profit of the developer. If you can find an alliance that doesn’t want to be in the top alliances, it’s still a fun game to play. I’d take this over many other similar games for f2p if I didn’t care about winning. Meeting people all over the world is quite cool. Hope that helps.

Great game but a few suggestions

Very good game so far but I do wish there was an easier way to take over certain territories. For example, allow alliance leaders and temple keepers to put down bases that offers boosts for the area said bases cover if that makes sense? Like a rise of kingdoms type of thing. I feel that it will bring a level of competition and a goal for many alliances which is why rise of kingdoms is literally one of the most legendary games ever made. Just a suggestion but y’all are doing an amazing job! Another thing….the reinforcement system and the morale drop when u defend other fellow alliance players makes no sense. If I call for reinforcements I don’t want them to come after the first round of troops die I want them to come while they are fighting lol…that’s why it’s called reinforcements because they’re supposed to help the allies already fighting. On the morale deduction when u attack lower players I get it if it’s attacking but say if a player is attacking my weaker alliance member while do I have to be penalized for helping them out? Some things just don’t make sense but overall not a bad game

If you’re rich this game is for you

You can’t do well in this game unless you spend a bunch of real life money. If you aren’t able to cough up a lot of money, other players will just crush you and there’s nothing to stop them because the game has no built-in controls against high-level players coming in and crushing low-level players. And then you don’t have enough resources to rebuild before you get hit again. You can’t even train infantry because you have to have rare bronze which you can only make a couple of per day. By contrast, the money-spending people have oodles of cavalry units because they have no need to wait for the game to progress or to adhere to normal practices like the other 99% of us. What do I mean by spend money, really? Let me tell you: every day I get multiple pop-ups for packages that cost $99. In the game’s online store, you’re lucky if you see a package less than $20. These clowns, am I right? I just ran some quick math: 80% of the current packages offered cost $99. I’m not even exaggerating. Download the game real quick and take a peek. Then reread this review. Then delete the game. You’re welcome.

Reinforcements, Army Power, Game Mechanics?

Loving the game so far. It has a wonderful and polished treatment but noticed a few things that could be improved. When attacking npc camps and calling for reinforcements, the number of troops that need healing is the same as not calling for reinforcements. What is the point of staging an army and reinforcing your attack? It appears to have no affect on the outcome. Also, could use more info on game mechanics. Army power appears heavily tilted to infantry over archery even with large archery bonuses applied. How does army power work? The stats for infantry and archers seem balanced but I don’t see it in the overall army power rating. This applies to mounted Calvary too. They are the last troop to unlock and result in the lowest army power even with bonuses. Last thing, food loot has over clocked my max storage and I can’t get rid of it (lvl 9) and thus I can not move my fields. This is inconvenient and I don’t know how it will affect my kingdom when I go to lvl 10 and players start attacking.

Surprisingly amazing

This game is so fun it made me quit playing a different game just so I would have more time to play this one. I personally love anything with customization options and player banner customization in this game is way too fun to mess around with. On top of that the grind in this game is actually enjoyable and the way you can attack other players with real time help from your alliance members amazed me. Being a free to play game I was surprised to see no adds and no over the top pay to win players. Yes there are helpful things that you can buy with real money but they are only things that you can easily get by grinding. And to top it all off, the community is absolutely incredible. Being a pvp/pve game with leaderboard and territories I was surprised to see that everyone is so kind to each other, even going so far as to speak a 2nd language in global chat just so that other players can better understand the conversation. I absolutely love whoever made this game because I’m having way to much fun with it and I hope you developers are having a lovely day.

Well developed but lacking

We need a translator!! There are maaany German and Spanish speakers in the servers but because there’s no translation option, it forces other players out whether it’s an English speaker or the reverse. Also, there should be protection put up for a player who is targeted by multiple people in an alliance/clan. It’s clear that there’s already a penalty for higher ranking players to attack lower ones but that doesn’t stop it from still happening *continuously* by other people in the alliance. So if anything, there should at least be a block put in place or something, that way, the same targeted players won’t be blasted again as soon as their city repairs.Another thing that is just my own personal gripe has to do with the “boink” action. I hate it. Maybe it might’ve been seen as funny to some players at first with the inappropriate animation but after a few times of being forced to watch that play out again with no skip button, it gets annoying. So PLEASE.. either include a skip button or change the animation!

2nd Chance Customization

I’ve been playing this game for 6 mouths now, and I’ve yet to grow tired of it. This game is fun, interesting, and the graphics are not like anything I’ve seen especially with the most resent update. I do don’t know if it’s just me but I love to customize and role-play with my characters. With the most recent update I’m dying to see and us the new feature. I’ve been trying to see if their was a way to re-customize, but I don’t think their is one. And I think it would be cool if we got a chance to re-customize our family or at least the ones we started with just so we can get a chance to us the new update. Also I think it would also be cool if the characters could die of old age or of some sort of sickness that would through excitement to the game, because I know with myself I always feel bad sacrificing my people in the volcano. And lastly something I also thing could be really cool is if their was a feature where you could see the family tree of all the characters in the keep. I don’t know if it’s just me but I like to know who comes from who, who is with who. Overall the game is amazing and I love it can’t wait for future updates.

Great game needs some changes

This game is really fun has a lot of different things to do and encourages you to interact with other players. It does have its issues however and the biggest one I’ve noticed is the way mining works needs to be maybe not entirely overhauled but definitely changed. You unlock tier 2 troops at keep level 11-13 this is when you must start mining for bronze if you wish to make these troops. However every spot is occupied by keep level 16-20 players. As a keep 11 it is impossible to take these people on. If the goal of the game is for you to fight for a spot they should add leveled mines, some where only 11-13’s can mine then 14-15 and so on. Also your troops stay there even after you’ve finished mining which is something no other game like this has ever done and I’m not sure if it is intentional or not. Because of this most bronze mines are occupied by people who aren’t even still mining, this to me is the biggest thing that needs to change and I really hope wasn’t an intentional choice because honestly that would really disappoint me. Other than the mining tho this game has been a blast I’ve joined a good active alliance and I talk with a lot of interesting people and the game is very fun. But could still definitely use improvements.

Downhill

Unfortunately since Scopely took over the game has become all about spending money. They strive to make the game as difficult as possible for f2p so more and more people are forced to spend money. I’ve been playing this game for about a year now and at first it was awesome. There was one pack that was a double pvp damage pack that cost $100 and that was the only way you could get it, while that was a clear cash grab and most serious players were forced to buy it they had promised that eventually it would be accessible to f2p players and that was really the only clear cash grab at the time so it was fine. However, now that method has been released! Sounds amazing right! Well unfortunately rare rss are almost impossible to obtain you require 100 of the rare rss to get the double pvp pack and through the rate at which rare rss typically drop through my own experience (I received 3 rare sulphur in about 3-4 months) and several others with similar experiences it would take roughly 8 years to get the double pvp pack through f2p means. So basically u either play for 8 years or spend $100, but hey! Now the devs can claim that it can be acquired through f2p means! As amazing as this game was and its immense potential it’s a shame it turned into your typical cash grab city and army building game. If you have friends that play and you’re willing to spend around $500-$1000 I would say go for it but honestly for most people I wouldn’t recommend this game anymore.
