May need an update

Recently when doing photos on the app, back in ios 9 it was able to take photos, however when it is in ios 10.2.1 it does not process the photos well, this may need an update incase, overall its a really good app!

Glitch

There was a glitch preventing me from using the telephoto lens, due to opening the app while it was on front camera. When on rear camera, trying to use telephoto lens wasn’t possible, no option was shown. I initially thought they had removed the ability to use it but it was just a bug. Other than that, 5/5 stars it’s a great app

Using it for a couple of years now and it just keeps getting better.

I’ve been using this app for some time now and for static subjects or subjects with minimal motion it does great. You must be able to hold your phone reasonably steady for several seconds. It’s low light capability is impressive even though that is not its primary purpose. Color rendition is excellent. With shadow enhance turned on it provides an HDR effect. My favorite camera app. Now I just need to get a newer model iPhone to get the most out of it. - Update: latest version has added back video capture and it works great. (Uses video to capture multiple frames quickly and composites them quickly producing a very clean and sharp image.

Astonishing on my 7

I was concerned to read some of the negative reviews but figured I could roll the dice for $3. Admittedly the best result in sharpness comes from shooting a stabilized phone, but the dramatic improvement in low light quality, even hand held, is astonishing. The rendering of improved shadow detail is remarkable and the noise reduction superb. I can't wait to use it on subject matter beyond the preliminary test shots. I have no idea why others describe a poor experience but I'm very impressed.

Better than the stock camera

I’ve been using this app for the past 4 years and it continues to amaze me. It captures all the details in low light that the native camera app misses, and images are sharp. Nearly as good as my Mate 20 Pro camera in low light.

Brilliant!

I've been using cortex cam since the original version. This latest update astounds me! The raw input from the camera makes for FAR SUPERIOR photographs than all prior versions combined.Along with the advanced features to change ISO and shutter speed, you can take photos of dimly lit surroundings and there is practically NO GRAIN.Note: this magic is accomplished via long exposure photography. So your subject matter needs to be stationary for several seconds wile the image is captured.Hands down, the best camera app available. No gimmicks and silly filters. Just brilliant photographs!

Brilliant Camera App for Photography

I have been looking for an app can do stacking photos directly on the phone for years. This is great, and since this is an app which only for extreme image quality, support stacking images into DNG or RAW, just like Google Camera with professional UI look will make this app even more appealing.

Camera shutter sound still there after the most recent update

Please give users an option to disable shutter sounds. Its not an option for Korea and Japan because too many perverts take pictures of women without their consent, so the law mandates phone manufacturers to disable silence function on cameras. 3rd party apps are the only option for silent cameras, and cortex used to be my life saver. Otherwise, I love this app.

Very good app but I don't use it often

The app does exactly what it claims to do and does it very well.I don't use it all that often because my "go to" camera app, ProCamera, has a setting named 'LOWLIGHT+' that is nearly as good as this app. I only turn to Cortex Cam when the ProCamera result is inadequate.

Least favorite version

My favorite version of Cortex Cam is 1.97! This latest version makes pictures in low light seem very grainy. That wasn't the case for version 1.97. Instead the picture came out smooth and clear with a shadow enhance option toggle. Maybe it's just the iPhone 5s. But I hate the latests update and prefer 1.97 :) so that's why I use it instead. It's the best for iPhone 5s.

Description

“Cortex Camera Takes Great Low Light iPhone Photos” -Lifehacker “In my experience, I found that Cortex Camera greatly reduced noise in low-light conditions. And I was able to get crisp shots without the need for a stand or tripod.” -CNET Cortex Camera improves on your device’s already excellent camera to achieve quality that rivals a DSLR. It combines dozens of exposures to create a single noise free, high resolution photo.

If you want the best quality for a static scene and you aren't carrying a bulky DSLR with you, Cortex Cam is an excellent alternative. PLEASE NOTE that while a tripod is not required, the camera must be held steady and your subject must be still for the duration of the exposure, which takes 2-10 seconds with default settings. In addition to the image quality benefits mentioned above, Cortex Cam also enables long exposure effects such as motion blur and soft water. Switch off the "remove motion blur" option to capture these effects. Cortex Cam is all about achieving the best image quality possible on a mobile device. It uses RAW data (when available) to increase sharpness and image detail. Professional exposure controls (including shutter priority, ISO priority, and full manual) enable great photos even in the most challenging lighting situations. It may not replace your DSLR (or the default camera app for that matter), but for certain situations you will find it indispensable. - Advanced image processing techniques combine information from multiple frames to remove noise and increase resolution. - Motion compensation enables hand-held long exposure photography. - The “enhance shadows” option brightens dark areas of your photos without making them look unnatural or processed. - Uses RAW data as input to increase sharpness and image detail (iPhone 6s and above). - Supports JPEG or TIFF file formats. - Supports telephoto lens on iPhone 7 plus and above. - Manually choose to combine 10-99 frames or let Cortex Cam automatically determine number of frames. - Includes support for front camera, shutter timer, and grid overlay. - Most of all, image quality! The majority of development time has been spent on making image quality unreasonably good for a mobile device. Image resolution depends on which device you’re using: iPhone 6s, 6s plus: 19 megapixels iPhone 7 and above: 27 megapixels Follow @CortexCamera on twitter for more Cortex Camera goodness!
