It will please Metroidvania fans

It is a great game, you will enjoy if you like Castlevania (the story is literally: demons are spawning from a Castle). The maps are well designed, as in complex enough but not that will get lost. Graphically, it’s pretty especially on Epic resolution at 60fps. The combat system is familiar and enjoyable, it’s not reinventing the wheel by any means. The game does what it’s advertising itself to be. So now the criticism (hopefully constructive if the devs bother to read): 1. The controller support… feels like it was dumped on the guy who drew the short straw on before Christmas eve. First of all, there is no layout description, so if you play with controller just press buttons until stuff happens (FYI, up opens chess, your welcome dear reader). The controller doesn’t work anywhere beside the game itself: not in the title screen, not in the menu screen, npc shop menu… oh, and you can’t even open or close menu with the controller. I tested with both the ps4 controller and the razer kishi. You would think that this might a “hybrid” design like what COD mobile is doing. No! This is just broken and lazy. 2. I love the fact that dialogues are all voiced, but sometimes it’s out sync with the text. Also, there should be a option auto move from dialogue box to dialogue box… it kinda feels like the voice over was an afterthought.

Great game, terrible controller support

Great game, but it’s insulting to ship it with controller support this lackluster. From the first, the game lies to you: “Click anywhere”; it’s a touchscreen, the controller doesn’t work there, and you can only tap on those words and nowhere else. From then it continues. Menus can’t be navigated and screen buttons barely dim (and sometimes don’t at all). There are so many menus, and I have to set my controller down and reach out and touch the screen each time I get a new weapon or shard, which happens every minute or so. Shameful. But, again, great game. I keep playing because the game is great, even if I have to keep moving my hand off the controller to tap the screen.

New update brings 60fps and controller support!

I was waiting for this update. I’ve been eyeing the game on console but I usually play COD or Apex on console. I told myself it would be perfect for mobile and then the mobile version was released and I knew I had to get it. But the reviews for it complained about the controls, so I waited for the update and I’m glad I did. Really great game, reminds me of castlevania except it’s with a girl (that happened only like twice in the series I believe). The art work is very DMC and I’m talking like the first 3 games, not the recent ones. It’s a good game! If you’re thinking about getting it you should

A great game nearly ruined

I have played this game on PS4 and also the dreaded switch version. I would rather play the unpatched switch version then the mobile port. It looks ok and if you have a high end device (I use the 11 pro max) there is hardly and frame rate issues. HOWEVER, the touch controls are horrible. The response time is so delayed and the button placement takes some getting used to. I’ve missed countless jumps and taken so much unnecessary damage because of bad controls. Now I have not tried this with a controller, and that may be what saves this game from being deleted off my phone. I have SotN and it is the same way, the touch controls there are not delayed like this game but they are just finicky, I think SotN touch controls are better than this game. I will update after I have tried this with a controller.UPDATE: using the razer Kishi controller (plugged in, not Bluetooth) the controls are much better. BUT you cannot use the controller in the menu, you still need the touch screen for that. Also the button layout is not the most convenient and the touch controls stay on the screen even when using controller. So yes it does make it better but I think this game has still got a ways to go before it can be considered a great port

The game is getting better.

I think this is a good attempt to put Bloodstained into mobile so I’ll give credit for that. However, the touchscreen controls sometimes delay on command so that need to be fixed, slowdown sometimes affect the game and the graphics need to be polished because it’s a little washed out. Also fix the sounds when you leave the game on sleep mode. This can be a good time but it needs to be fixed for a better experience.Update: I’m glad you guys are updating the game to its best, and I appreciate everything that you’re doing of making this game better.Update 2: Can you guys fix the graphics flickering, because it’s kinda distracting.

Really Good/ But!

I am loving this game. I have about 10 hours in it so far. I played the older Castlevania games when I was a kid and this lives up to those perfectly. If you are into metroidvania style games then do yourself a favor and play this game. The graphics are really good on epic on my IPhone XS Max. It does make my phone warm but not bad. Now onto the bad, which isn’t that bad . The controls are a bit sluggish at times. Most of the time they are perfect, but for some reason every now and then I button push won’t register. It happens with a controller and with touchscreen controls. Other than that the game has been absolutely fantastic. Once the controls are fixed I will change to 5 stars.

Why?!

A great game ruined by garbage on-screen controls. Jumping is just too inconsistent when also trying to run, which is a main mechanic for platformers. It’s just not fluid enough. While running, tap on shoe (jump) and watch Miriam maybe jump to her max height… or find her only able to jump a quarter to half her max height and fall from a higher region of the map/castle (if you’ve even made it up there initially) and you have to start that climbing process all over. This isn’t Chutes n’ Ladders, and where in the world are the QA testers before this mess gets sent out for folks to purchase and play?! For heaven’s sake…. Unplayable until they fix this to save self from frustration. 🤦🏾‍♂️😩

IGNORE the bad reviews and nitpicking

Do the touch controls leave a little bit to b desired-yes....is the frame rate a little slower than the other versions of this game-yes.....but honestly WHO CARES?!?!? This is an amazing game from legendary developers released on IOS for us to enjoy so quit all the whining and nitpicking, this game is overall AWSOME and frankly what else do we have to get our “castlevania fix” ???? I’ll tell u-no where....sure SON is on IOS now and it will forever hold its place in gaming history but Bloodstained blows it away in every sense - minor issues and all.....so from one massive castlevania fan to the devs of this game- THANK U....THANK U FROM THE ABSOLUTE BOTTOME OF MY HEART FOR BRINGING THIS TO IOS !!!!

Not operable for me.

I waited until they said they would be updating the issues with frame rate and poorly optimized controls. There is a good game here, that I want to play and finish, but can't in it's current state. There are plenty of games that I can play proficiently with virtual controls. For similar games like Dead Cells, I can beat the game only using virtual controls. The jump button is like shooting dice. Sometimes it registers, lots of times it doesn't. Or it will register I pressed jump, but only for a moment. Maneuvering around enemies is a crap-shoot, and further into the castle, platforming becomes crucial, and 30% of the time I jump, it only registers for a moment, resulting in a short jump, which can mean falling all the way to the bottom of the structure you are trying to ascend. Even when staring at the positions of the virtual controls, and seeing I definitely pressed it, it still won't register. For me it is unplayable after advancing through the cathedral. It results in a lot of death because dodging (sticking with the previous analogies) is a gamble. I would give the developers a break if there weren't a ton of games with virtual controls that do work, but that isn't the case.

Bug problems

I usually don’t complain, but my main issue is there are times I’m at the start of boss fight, and tried to skip and game will crash, same thing when I went to kill Gebel early in the game, because I’m playing blindly and never realized that was the end, after the credits, game won’t load anymore, please fix this, it’s not worth of $10 if the game is full of bugs, I’d rather go back to my Sotn, that game is perfect even transferred in iOS, so please fix them. And can u guys add like arrow keys for movements instead of analog, the weapon skills are hard to perform even there’s shortcut, in sotn ios i can perform like 50 - 80 gravity boots jump with the librarian without problems, my point is i know this is ios platform but graphics in game we don’t care that much, but performance wise like skill and the 8-bit boots omg is like sliding in ice before u can run. Loading and some minor bugs are ok and we are paying even how many dlc u guys put as long as u guys fix major problems asap.
