Can’t get any easy
I’ve been using AMPLIFI router for the last 2 yrs and have been immensely happy with it. I tried Samsung, Portal and another mesh network prior to landing on AMPLIFI and so glad I found this. It’s so easy to setup and control kids access with parental control. With respect to this teleport app, the setup can’t get any easier. Took about 2 mins including installing the app and connecting to vpn. This company has been surpassing all my expectations so far with respect to home networking.
Great idea. Far from being mature
Awesome idea by amplify. The hurdles are the dependency in a google or far worse facebook account for the remote access (facebook and privacy simply don’t work well together). Additionally the amplifier app doesn’t have a close window button and if you want to change your mind from sharing with ‘transport’ - you need to restart the amplify app. Last - enabling such a VPN service, free for amplifi users in the US, will go a great way. That will definitely add more amplify users out there. VPN is important.
Incredible Awesome
This save my time, couple hundred Dollars and on top of that hassle to create my own VPN server at home. Initially i was thinking to setup VPN using PI then i did some research and get yo know about this app for my Mesh point. Now i am very happy as i travel alot around the globe so i can use secure Internet and my personal Information wherever i go. Thanks for this Great feature. 🤗
Game Changer
This app is an absolute game changer! I don’t normally leave reviews, but Ubiquity Networks has outdone themselves. I am able to connect to my home network when not physically present, which has allowed me to access my NAS, and operate the devices that require local connection (e.g. Sonos). Furthermore, I was able to access my U.S. Netflix content on my last international trip. Please note that for proper operation, you must have remote access enabled on your actual AmpliFi router, and if you are testing in-home, ensure you are on your cellular network.
No access to home network!
What is the point if it doesn’t provide “in house” equivalent access to my home servers and hardware? All it does provide is slower access to the web by routing web traffic through my home internet provider — slower than whatever web access I have already wherever I happen to be! This is absurd. I really have no need to pretend I’m accessing the web from home when I’m not home!

Prior to purchasing an AmpliFi Alien Roger, I’d always paid for VPNs. First, for security. Second, because I travel to places that block some internet sites. Third, I like to access my home cable subscription when I’m traveling. This app allows me to do that for … nothing! Better yet, I’m doing so through my home network. I’ve found the connection to be quick enough and stable to stream sports events while I’m overseas. Highly recommend.
Slow and unstable
I love this feature of my Amplifi HD router. However, it’s a slow tunnel and has a tendency to drop without warning, leaving you vulnerable. This app would be much better if it connected faster, STAYED CONNECTED (even when the phone is powered off), and updated a lot more frequently than it currently is. Even give us an option to permanently add this VPN to our phones, instead of introducing an additional step to activate it each time we need it.
Needs work
Like the Teleport hardware, this Teleport app is a great concept that needs refinement. The app loads easily and connects to my Amplifi router very simply, but I have no access to my local devices through the VPN. To me, that is one of the key features of a VPN - being able to access your private network from anywhere in the world. The Teleport app does not do this.The additional overhead of the VPN makes web browsing much slower. I assume that one might be able to watch Netflix or HBO Now from overseas using this app if the speed were better, but I’m not in a position to try that right now. So, for now, Teleport gets just to stars from me.
Pretty app
Unfortunately VPN disconnects after about 10 minutes of use. Really great experience, but too inconsistent for regular usage. Happy to export anything needed by the dev team to fix. Update Dec 2020. Still disconnects after a few minutes. Too bad. Apparently this product will never work.Update May 2022. Still disconnects after barely a minute. App clearly abandoned. Using on latest hardware on Alien.

If you want something that is simple to use and just works, this is the way to go. Get yourself a AmplifiHD mesh router and the Teleport app. Only improvement I can think of is to have a way for the VPN connection to enable automatically when you leave your Amplifi WiFi network, and disable when re-entering.
