Good Game, Wish for more

Satisfying game at the moment. Only issue is that it isn’t the TCG. I’ve wanted to play the TCG since it came out, but had nobody else interested in it (they were all playing YuGiOh in High School). The games that came out since then were in Japanese as well. Then we get an announcement of a mobile game that restarted from 0, and was really excited. The game itself is fun! It’s decently free to play if you reroll to get a good start, and you can be competitive with any clan (currently # 800 playing a Royal Paladin incomplete deck, and never spent a dime. Have about 100 packs saved up, with even more possible if I had set up a VP Farming loop). However, it dumbs down vanguard a bit to adapt to mobile, so it’s just disappointing in that regard. Still recommend it: probably my second best experience with card games after LoR, and the gameplay loop is a lot more addicting.

Vanguard but not really...

Alright so I was really excited about this game when it was announced because I wanted a virtual cardfight option to build and test decks. Then I tried it...and I was disappointed. It’s a real shame too because it gives you anime vibes playing it. When it loads it plays anime scenes or soundtracks helping you get into it. You can set your favorite character as your home character to interact with. Of course you get to play your favorite clans too. However...do not expect it to be the game your familiar with. From the little bit I played, triggers aren’t a thing at least not how your familiar with. Triggers are now attached to grade 3 units. Grade 2 intercepts also different because you HAVE to attack a grade 2 because instead of the opponent using their intercept to guard with. They intercept by making you attack them before you can attack the vanguard by no choice of your own. It also seems like you get a boost from every unit you drive check too. It’s just horrible, no one should honestly play this game if you’ve never played before because it’s not how vanguard really plays at all. So if you wish to play an entirely different game that has nothing to do with the actual card game go for it. However I am severely put off by the fact it doesn’t even try to remain consistent with the actual game.

Bitter sweet

The game is cardfight everything about it is what I loved yet the gameplay and game mechanics from the store to the missions and everything in between is really confusing it looks like it should be played like the tcg yet it’s really different once you play and the ai helps you a lot that should be a good thing it’s not does not let you play the way you want and don’t get me started on how you obtain your cards the system is kinda weird and I think you can just get endless cards as long as you got the money to get them so you can just continue to get cards you don’t want till maybe you get lucky and get one good card that you need there’s a lot of problems that can be changed and I just hope they change them before it’s too late I already spent 100 $ and trust me when I tell you that 100 $ in yugioh duel links goes a longer way then in here plz update the game clean up the rough edges make it more user friendly and better to understand I love vanguard but rn your better off playing the tcg then this and once again this does not follow the tcg rules it kinda change the way the game is played even tho vary small it big cuz it’s not the game I’m use to playing

Favoritism and Unfairness

The game is fun and competitive but it shows a bit of favoritism towards certain clans, because I invested a lot of money on here and when I open up certain packs where it’s an event going on to support that clan like the Gacha pack for Dark Irregulars or Aqua Force but instead I get rare cards from different clans. I’m just saying, if the likelihood of getting that clan is boosted, then you should be able to get those cards. When playing the story or Character fights, the characters tend to get certain cards to their advantages and on Character fight-the higher the difficulty, the more power they get, that’s unfair because how you think people are going to be able to get 4 damage and beat them within 6 turns or less. I think that should be changed to at least starting off with damage. Giving them 1k and 2k is too much. If we can’t get the right cards from the packs and the game don’t offered better ways to give them out other than having an certain amount of VPs, then maybe it should be an event or reduce the amount of materials it takes to craft cards. They should add more items and cards onto the exchange store because it only got certain characters and cards to exchange coupons and tickets for. Also, it should be 5 tickets to be equal to one gacha ticket and maybe try fixing your shuffle system because you could discard a grade 3, just to get that same card back into your hand

High Effort, Varied Returns

There are many apps that bring an online feel to playing card games. For fans of Cardfight!! Vanguard, this is a welcome return at first glance. The game is a bit different, removing the guard feature from every card except sentinels and placing triggers on Grade 3 units. However, it’s easy to get used to and provides the same feel of strategy and varied play style that the original card game brought. However, while the game is free to play friendly, you need to invest A LOT OF TIME to make it work for you. Some complain about making it pay to win. While you can pay to get more packs, these do not assure you if getting every card you need. The playing field can be evened out in that way. However, where the game is skewed is in the amount of time you need to spend in order to get better. You need to take this game seriously in order to make it worth your while. If you are just a pick up and play person, you may not enjoy it as much. For those who are in this for the competition and want to climb competition ladders and rank, you will enjoy yourself.

Pay to win

Vanguard already is laced with a few problems inherently as a card game. Extremely luck dependent due to triggers that occur randomly and drastically alter the state of the game(it is fun tho, but card games are already laden with luck issues). And a sort of pay wall to play viable decks, more so than other major card games like Pokémon, yugioh, and some others(not sure about magic). And this mobile version of the game carries those same problems but worse. At least in real life you can buy specific cards you need for a deck. In this game crafting elements are split in 3 rarities and then further divided between clans. Unlike TEPPEN where you only have one element for crafting this game has a ton, and they require either hundreds, no maybe thousands of gacha pulls! (copies of cards beyond 4 get turned into the materials) The other way to get materials is grinding. Which is normal for free to play games, but the amount of time spent grinding for good cards is ridiculous. The easiest way to “git gud” is to just pay for crystals to use on card packs which ain’t cheap. I literally opened 120 packs on the latest banner and was barely able to make TWO decent decks. Oh and banners have 4 or 5 different clans so that also makes it hard to build specific decks too.Overall the game is fun. But these hurdles to actually play, is a little too high.

A wolf wrapped in sheep’s clothing

Now pay to win games are nothing new to the card battle genre. We kind of expect it at this point. Capitalism. However. It’s one thing to masquerade as a f2p game when it is very clear that; and this is purely a design flaw; you literally have nowhere else to go after a certain point without paying money. Wanna grind for a specific card or deck? Gotta have unlimited stamina. How to get unlimited stamina? Pay gems. Oh and f2p gems? Also have a figurative cap in the game. At least tell players they’ll have to shell out money. And want to do the fan base a service? Allow players to buy singles in game. Or, similar to your competitors (looking at you Duel Links), make structure decks available that include relevant archetypes and cards. This games system for acquiring specific cards is inherently broken and lends itself to lottery level luck and spending a ton of money at the chance of getting lucky at getting the cards you want or spending MORE money grinding the materials to get the cards you want. tl;drWant to make a better game? Let us buy singles.

Fun until you start doing the mandatory hard level character fights

Literally when you have to start doing the hard level character fights in this game, which you practically need to do if you want to get good cards, like Dragonic Overloard, your opponent’s units are all boosted by 1000 power, and when there’s a slight chance of the AI losing, they get literally all the drive triggers they need in order to win, and a real kicker, they always have a set hand and field so there’s no chance of them bricking and giving you a chance. Also you for the story, it gets to the point that it is rigged against you, without fail against Granblue in chapter 5 with royal paladins, and tested with other decks you will; pretty much start the game with 2 damage because the computer always gets a critical during their damage, no matter what get put to 5 damage at some point, and when you’re at 5/4 damage and he has his grade 3 he will always get a critical. I did that fight 30 times, 10 times with Royal Paladin, Kagero, and Nova Grappler, same results.

Super unfriendly for veteran and new players

It’s seems they are just trying to rush through the end of this game with how they release there sets, Including 6 different clans in a single set is the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen. there is no reason I should have to pull on support for clans I can’t even build or don’t want to build just because support I need is Barely 1/6th of the set. I understand 3 or even 4 clans but 6 is crazy even for whale's. Even after playing since day 1 I did not even have enough currency to craft 2 GRs witch should not be no where near 5000 crafting currency per GR, Not having a universal pack ticket for the G era is basically forcing your hand to spend enormous amounts of money on gems and most of the best ones having a G persona blast requiring 2 of them. I could go on but my main point is that because this is the direction they decided to take the game in I see absolutely no true longevity in This game not like duel links or master duel and another thing there 2nd anniversary is an absolute joke when you compare it to the games first year anniversary and that one was subpar at best.

Cardfight!! Vanguard

Decent game, it’s fun to a certain point but then gets repetitive because the only cards out are to the decks the character of the anime uses. We all end up playing the same decks same strategies which is super boring. The change of game mechanics is terrible completely altars the game, the game is purely luck of the draw. You need the grade 0’s in the deck as the triggers and not grade 3’s when you pull that it limits potential of the match. Combos are a joke because of it, I feel in every deck I play all I do is superior call all the way to my grade 3 to use my card ability to win.. boring, despite what anyone els says I have not paid a single dime in this game and have almost every card out and have at least 3 of most cards so that’s a huge plus. Biggest things are they need to make the game rules the official not some knock off crap, and make a big update and add a bunch of extra boosters and booster really boring playing the trail decks essentially.
