A couple annoying things

Works mostly great, but after trying it a bit there are a couple things that annoy me.First, when you are in record mode, every time you stop recording, or go back to edit the script you’re using, it resets the recording settings. Since I’m using an external microphone for professional quality audio, I must go into the settings and select the external mic every time this happens, or suffer the crappy audio quality of my phone’s built in mic.Second, when you record, there is an opaque gray bar at the top of the screen. But what’s covered by this bar is still recorded! So it totally messes up the framing of your shot unless you realize this and compensate for it. Simply making this bar transparent would fix this issue. Now I have to go back and re-record everything I just recorded because of these 2 issues.

Spend more on a better app.

I was on a shoot yesterday using this app. I paired my phone as a remote and it worked well. Since I was using a proper teleprompter mount, I tried to mirror the text, and it asked me to upgrade. Fine, that’s expected. I started the trial, and then the remote wouldn’t work—an error popped up saying I had to go pro to use it. But that’s what the free trial enables. It also worked fine on the free version earlier, so this was really confusing. So I upgraded to pro, and it still didn’t work. Every time I tried to pair an iOS device to use as a remote, I got the error. I could control my iPhone from the iPad, but it would give me the error the other way around. I turned the iPad on and off, closed the app and restarted, deleted and reinstalled, but I had the same issue each time. So I deleted it and downloaded another app that actually worked. I’m out the $4.99, and I got to look like an idiot in front of a client. But I learned a lesson: test all of the functionality of an app before the day of the shoot. Because normal, vital features might inexplicably get nerfed once you pay the developer.

Decent App but terrible customer service

So I was trying to contact the makers of this app through their contact page to try and resolve an issue I had with my account. I reached out to them several times. I have had a Pro account with them for 2 weeks and have already received 4 promotional offers in my email to upgrade my account. I have responded to all these promo offers (which are made to appear as personal messages from someone at the company named “Mate”) and have also not gotten a response there. There a dozen or more teleprompter apps out there I’d rather use now, but it was a year subscription I mistakenly paid for, so I guess I’ll use them for a year. Nothing wrong with the app really, just frustrating that you can’t reach them.

Back on the map

This teleprompter app is a game changer to my music career. With this app, my music is gonna get back on the map. I suffer from memory loss, and I am a musician. I finally have a way to perform my studio tracks, because I don’t have to remember the lyrics! And with the foot pedal I ordered, on Tuesday nite at the Dessert Oasis in Detroit on Griswold, I’m planning to debut some of my songs that haven’t been played since they were written in the studio live in 2014 and 2015. I cannot express my gratitude enough for this app. Thank you for creating it!

Amazing!!!!!

I love this app, I use to spend time recording and memorizing, reciting information , looking down reading from papers pausing from what I need to say and messing up the video! This app is simple and easy to use, just speak into the script it’s writes and then all you do is record your video with the script writing going up on the screen! I should of found this earlier! This has helped my videos look professional staring at the camera and saying everything without looking down to read. You can use the speed adjustment too if you want it fast or slow, thanks for this app!

Love it for zoom presentations

Using Teleprompter helps with my zoom presentations SO much. I’m not a fan of public speaking, so I have the common issues of anxiety, talking too fast, forgetting something important, and not knowing where to look (a problem especially common on zoom). Teleprompter pretty much tackles all of that. It helps pace my talking speed, my script is right there so I won’t forget anything, and it gives me a focal point during the presentation. All of this helps reduce my anxiety. Definitely recommend!

GAME CHANGER

This has been EXTREMELY convenient whether it’s for a class project or a personal film project, the app is packed with tons of features and saved us from having to buy a real teleprompter. Now I can just mount the phone straight to my camera and boom it’s done. It also doesn’t require you to pay a subscription fee just to use it which is also a nice touch. Either way, if you’re looking for a teleprompter app that does EXACTLY what you want it too, then you’ve found the one.

Works great, no gimmicks or nonsense

I’ve tried a TON of these apps and this is by far my favorite. Excellent at doing what it does simply and effectively. Best interface I’ve seen for this from a free app (w/watermark). Stable and flexible.My biggest suggestion! Please include some sort of number or indication for speed other than the very small drag-bar that is in there now. The bar is very small and dragging the circle a tiny bit has a big impact, and I want to know what speed to use so I can set it precisely and not have to fiddle around with it every time.Thanks for making this great app!

It’s fine for new YouTubers, but not very good.

The app was fine to get me started on my channel, but as soon as I can find something better I’m ditching this app. It is annoying that I have to pay $5 a month to use an app that’s not very good. Controlling the scrolling speed is way too frustrating. The scrolling speed is either too fast or too slow. The dumb slider is too coarse and should be designed better. There is no reason that it could not be a numeric speed to one decimal place. Also linking one device to control another device locks up regularly while you are trying to record. You import a .rtf file but the app is very specific about where it can locate it. The app has a built in editor but it is very basic. Don’t even try editing on a phone in landscape mode. Overall I will be ditching this app as soon as I can find something better.

Real world use

I’ve used Teleprompter now for three years. Works very well for self filming videos as well as studio shot videos. I’ve used to make quick short videos to clients as well as for public webinars. An important feature is reverse mirroring which allows it to work with a studio camera and the text scrolling right there while looking directly into the camera. I added a remote start/stop clicker so while doing webinars I can stop the scrolling text, make impromptu comments or answer questions, yet keep my script on track. Works very well.
