And it helped me resolve some issues with my original Kenwood 5.1 surround sound system. It’s one of the first surround sound systems I had ever seen I got it and the speakers for 100 bucks flat, original unit, original speakers.Which means that I’ve got two columns 3 3/4 feet tall that include 15 inch woofers, The satellite speakers for the rear were kind of sucky though, so I set up a couple of medium sized Technics speakers that had a three-way passive crossover system. So the explosions and stuff sound pretty good from the rear speakers. The center speaker is all right but I also have a Klipsch SW hooked up to an extra Yamaha receiver wired up in mono and the EQ completely disabled so as to not add extra coloration. But the main problem with the Kenwood is ringing out the system so that it sounds like proper surroundsound when you are sitting in the middle of the room, but fortunately I am able to tell the system exactly where I am in the room, how far away the speakers are from each other, exactly where are the rear speakers are, and it’s very easy to set that, except that the measuring units are all in meters on the system. But this app allows me to make sure that I have done it properly if it doesn’t sound right in this app then it’s not going to sound right when you are watching a movie later. The developer also has an air candy app for you to enjoy when you have your system set up properly and it’s worth the four extra dollars to download the music, check out the James Bond theme especially, 64 guitar tracks!Unfortunately the only issue I have with this app is that the subwoofer check doesn’t completely work when it is doing the comparison. It works at the beginning when it sends the different frequencies through the subwoofer but when it is playing the music, and switches between the surround system and the subwoofer, the subwoofer does not play. There is also another frequency test toward the end where it is supposed to be sending sounds through the sub, but they simply don’t come through.Perhaps the Apple TV version of this app will do it but for some reason I can’t get the subwoofer test to come up.
