Steadily cultivating... Keeps improving by the little tweaks

Would be a 4.5 or 5/5, but I believe this app can be refined even further... I'm eager to see how it is after additional tweaks and updates. For observing your Plex Media Server, it's a MUST have. A few additional capabilities from Dash could make it nearly a perfect Plex iOS app. So far, I am satisfied with Plex Dash’s abilities and it's one of the main applications I utilize daily. Top 5 without thinking, maybe top 3. Tremendous job! Continue its cultivation. Thanks.

Solid app

It is easy to use even for non-techie types. Very useful for snooping on your own libraries and also with free sources.I would prefer that they were include an option for it to offer some of the time-based metrics with greater precision. Last night, I started watching a 1 hour show but fell asleep halfway through. I finished it this morning. When I looked back at the record, it told me that I started it “12 hours ago” and I started it again “6 hours ago”. I can see that someone might argue that this casual timekeeping can be more useful for most users. But as the days pass, it will only tell me the number of days/weeks/months/years since an item was played. But why not offer this info in a standard date/time format. It’s programming too sloppy for the talented coders at Plex. There are so many times where you need precise datestamps for all kinds of troubleshooting or server metrics.A server logging util should become less and less useful due to date inaccuracies as minutes turn to hours, to days, to weeks, to months, to years. Probably this slop extends to decades and centuries but it hasn’t happened to me this far.I’d also like to see a summary of dropped frames in a show, a graph showing the general CPU load in 1 minute increments, maybe even an option to show server/CPU temps during playback.Don’t let these complaints fool you: I am a big time fan of this media server. I’m not giving it up any time soon.

Just ok

I like the idea of having a way to monitor the server remotely. This app helps, but it’s got the potential to being a better app. Having the server graphs is very nice once you figure out how to find them. I like Varys because that’s a button right there, but that’s an enhancement request really. I hope to see better reporting in this app. Varys allows me to see down to who is playing what on what device. This app seems primitive to that feature. To be honest you can’t even manage home users or friends to the server from the app. When you view the server logs in the app, it infinitely loops the log and you have to crash the app to go back to the previous page. It makes it useless when it comes to troubleshooting issues. To be honest and I know this sounds dumb, but I’d just add this to the original Plex app for admins profiles. It’s sort of silly to have so many apps to do something so simple as this. I can almost see a need like plexamp, but even that app seems like it could be migrated to the original app too. I still use Varys to monitor my server and for a couple bucks I was able to unlock some great reporting features that are very handy actually. Keep up the hard work and I know this can be a much better app!

Currently Broken.

Update: App functionality has been restored, can once again recommend this app, and the premium Plex pass subscription required to use it. Unfortunately the app is currently in a non-functional state. The developers are aware of the situation, and a cofounder of the company joked publicly about having to catch up on updates first, after ignoring this ‘Premium’ app for over a year. Just kinda disappointed after having finally decided to buy a Plex Pass last week after debating it for months. (As always the main apps and media server are best in class, and getting better almost by the day)

Server in your pocket

I received and email this morning, “server in your pocket” I am intrigued. So I open the email, which I rate for me. I mainly read the titles and that is it, if the email is from a company. But who doesn’t want to install Plex server on their phone. So opened it with anticipation. Only to find that it was a server monitor and controller. Sad that it isn’t what I wanted but easier access into my Plex server would be helpful. And it does and I do like it for what it does but please someone make a Plex server version for iOS I will gladly buy a second phone to have a mobile server or better yet when my phone ages out I will use it for the mobile server.

Great quick access but lacking with History details

This really does deserve 5 stars because it does what it needs to with showing you statistics and live Plex Server stats. However, there really should be a change made to this. I really think that recently played should include everything played, even if just for a minute. Not only display files played in there entirety. No one watches credits for 10 minutes unless dozed off or away from the screen. So it really is extremely inaccurate.

Amazing!

Finally, an official PLEX-made Server Activity App. Works great. Love it. I will definitely be using this everyday. Very competitive with Tautulli and Varys. However, I did find one bug; I launched PlexAmp and played any song/album, as soon as playback stops I thought it would disappear from Plex Dash, but it doesn’t. I tried it with the regular Plex app and it works great, shows up and disappears like usual. I am not too sure if this is a PlexAmp issue or Plex Dash, just thought I should let you know. One feature I would like to see included on the expanded view of now playing is Bandwidth currently used. For example; Let’s say a movie is 48mbps, with PGS Subtitles on it would then be using around 80-90mbps. It shows on Tautulli and Varys but not on Plex Dash. I would like to see this implemented. I can already view the bitrate of each film so you are already halfway there. Thank you

A Great Companion App for Plexheads

I love to fire this guy up and get a bit of insight into what my Plex server is up to under its hood. It’s a solid, effective app if you want some info at-a-glance: which media is being converted, what’s been played and how often, storage being utilized, and a few other metrics. I highly recommend it for power users of Plex, or simply folks who are curious. On the surface, the UX is straightforward and you’ll find it easy to call up said info. I suppose you could argue it could use a bit of tweaking as far as the way you navigate the different metrics, but I’m more than willing to deal with worse if it means having access to the info the app provides. All in all, the app succeeds admirably at what it sets out to do, and that’s more justification than any to give it 5 stars. Enjoy it, if only because it’s provided to Plex users for free. Many thanks to the Plex folk behind it!

Plex Rules

There’s always ‘I wishes’ in any app. But this one’s useful as a run a plex server for my family / friends and this has most of what I need to maintain quality of service for my users and manage things on-the-go without having to remote in to my server or pull up a web browser to access certain settings and view status reports. Please continue development on this incredible useful and stable app!!! :) I own multiple plex lifetime passes and will continue to financially support this project however I can. Thanks !

Fragmented Plex Apps (Plural)

An excellent contribution to the Plex experience. Suggestions: 1) Unify this dashboard experience into the main Plex app. 2) Transcode this functionality into widgets for both the iOS home screen and widget panel to the left of the home screen. 3) In the main Plex app add all functional components as an option on an iOS widget panel (left of the home screen and also on any other iOS screen. 4) Integrate the Top Charts function into the menu in the Plex. In-app overlay that shows ranking number over the box art. 5) Add pop-up notifications when server resources consumed surpass 90% for Bandwidth, Processor, Memory, Transcoding, Connection Lost/Inaccessible to App 6) Add a System Status Advanced Screen that displays the status of customer-facing Plex subsystems. 7) Replicate across all app versions, including Apple TV.
