This is the BEST parking management app out there, not only because it’s the only one but because it has everything you need. - easy to mark your parking spot- they respond to app suggestions and feedback pretty immediately- you can add your parking permit information- it’s quick and has no bugs that I’ve found- app is polished and map information is accurate (only issue I’ve found is that the 1 block area where certain permits overlap doesn’t list the information for both permits, only one, but you can submit map feedback if you see that)- you can scope out parking costs (even compare different nearby garages) before going somewhere, and even set the time frame when you’re going to be there- I love that the map displays general parking info when you move over it (i.e., free parking, hour limits, parking costs, etc), which makes it easy to plan ahead (or determine whether or not it’s cheaper to just Lyft) when I’m going to an unfamiliar area. This has literally everything anyone needs to own a car and avoid tickets while living in a city. My only suggestions would be to streamline the settings/menu portion of the UI a little more and that sometimes the push notifications don’t work (though it’s so easy to just open the app and see when I need to leave, it’s not a huge deal). I also think it’d be cool if they added an iOS widget.

Used to be great

A couple of years ago, this app was amazing. Over the last couple years it has sadly become pretty much useless - notifications haven’t worked for me for over a year (have been in touch with developers about it multiple times, but it just won’t notify me like it used to. All I get these days is a notification every time I park, saying ‘you’ve parked in an area with restrictions’, and that’s it). It often doesn’t remember my last parking location (also never used to be a problem). I never get the 15/30 min warnings anymore. And now, after a couple years or the app working less and less well, they are now charging for anything other than the most basic functions (which don’t work anymore). Really hoping another developer takes this idea and runs with it, in a reasonably-priced app. Really miss SpotAngels working well - I probably would have paid a couple years ago, but there’s no way I’d pay for this app now. I’ve waited a year or so for it to work properly again, will likely delete it soon.

This app has saved me from death by metermaid!

This app has been wonderful for all the reasons outlined in the many thorough reviews here that I 100% corroborate. The features are impressive, the learning curve is not too difficult even for a non tech savvy person, you can participate in verifying parking spot rules, hours, taking photos of signs, and help the community keep the information accurate and up to date. I can’t believe how cavalier I was beforehand about parking, thinking I was in ok zones or completely forgetting about street sweeping; as a gig economy driver Ive racked up nearly $600 in tickets in the last few months alone; since using this app for a month, I’ve not received a single one. Thank You to the brilliant developers to the minds and those who operationalized a great idea so successfully!

Suggestions to a already great app

This is by far the most advanced and easy ui street parking app and works wonders here in nyc the street times and holidays opposite side parking reminders are helpful when heading out the house. One thing I’ve noticed since the big update is that my parking spot has not been able to pick up when i actually move my car to a different location and occasionally i forget what street i left my car on and look to the app to find out it’s still has the location for the last spot i was in. Furthermore the alert that a driver has moved from a location is a smart idea but honestly lacks because not a lot of people actually use it. Maybe if it was automatic and not something you had to manually alert more people would be finding it useful other then this it’s a great app keep up the work.

I thought I finally found it!

... but then, I used it.So, after reading reviews, mostly good, downloading, entering my email, finding the verification email, opening the app, and finally, opening the app, ALL THE ALTERNATE SIDE STREET PARKING STREETS ARE MARKED THE SAME... GREEN.So i wrote a snarky review, and got some good news from the developer (so now we are up to three stars). Here’s what we learned: • the ability to see alternate side parking dates is “hidden” under filters (I think). If I plug in a date I want to find parking, only green lines show where parking is available. So, if it’s Monday morning, and I want to find parking the whole day, this app is o.., but not very intuitive for finding street parking that’s not going to give me a ticket on a Monday. Do I keep the following comment: C’mon, you couldn’t use green for Monday/Thursday, and orange for Tuesday/Friday?Someone thought that I did all this work to see where there is some form of alternate side parking... vs. Pay For Street Parking?Recommendation: the default should be for today, at this time, using two different colors for the days parking is free. (Who plans on looking for Street the day in advance?) The default should show where parking is available right now, and filter should enable setting the time for later, or tomorrow, or some time in the future. If you update the app to do this, it would be a 5-star, and I’d even pay for it.Thanks for the quick response!

DO NOT USE THIS APP

I heard about this app and thought, “wow what a life saver” and it seemed to be too good to be true. Turns out. It is. I booked a parking lot for my weekend in the city. I show up to the lot, which was impossible to find as it ended up being down a car-width-wide alleyway I drove around in circles trying to find, and spoke to the attendant who then sent me away because the lot was “full”. I reached out to SpotAngels directly and explained the situation asking to be refunded. They told me the lots are who charge you for the bookings not them so to reach out to them directly for a refund. After literally weeks and almost 10 attempts to contact the lot, I haven’t heard a thing from anyone let alone come close to a refund. I reached out to SpotAngels again and they told me that if I don’t hear back from them to go ahead and contest the charge from the lot with my bank as there’s nothing they can do to refund me. Use this app if you want to lose money.

Excellent NYC parking helper. But needs MORE USERS to make it GREAT

This app has proven to be a great tool in NYC. I use it in Manhattan’s upper east side. I’m very impressed on the accuracy of the app being in sync with the signs. AND that the app seems to stay CURRENT with any last minute changes the city makes. So the app is great for deciding which blocks are viable to look for a space on. BUT, as my title says, for locating and OPEN SPACE, this app is only as useful if MORE PEOPLE sign on and use it, because it’s other drivers who are reporting in that they’ve seen an open space, or are vacating their space. I RARELY see a ‘halo’ indicating there’s an available space. Bottom line: GET the App, USE the App, and we’ll all benefit.

Kinda like self checkout…

Such a weird system. The information is “crowd sourced,” which means the people USING the app do the work, and the app takes zero responsibility for the information because it doesn’t come from them…. But the users are also supposed to pay the APP for the access to that information. Very strange. Like, come pay us but you also work for us. And also we are not responsible for ANY of this. Don’t blame us, blame your fellow users. But everyone keep paying us. For access to info we don’t bother to verify. What? And if you work hard enough for them, you can “earn” your few dollars a month back. If you’re going to charge people, hire employees to collect accurate information and pay them properly. If you aren’t going to do that, at least give people the option to deal with ads OR pay. It makes no sense.

Got a ticket. Don’t use

Yesterday, Wednesday, I walked outside to my car and to my surprise that was the ticket on the window. On Tuesday evening I park my car, and I forgot to check the alternate side, my mistake. When going back to double check I received a notification saying alternate side is Thursday. So I went back inside, my mistake again. The street I was on was not a small street where both sides are close together, it’s a wide street with 2 way traffic and much room to spare. This is the entire function of this feature on the app, the developer has told me this does not work in New York City or California, which is half or more it’s market. Basically app doesn’t work for what it was built to do. The app does ask for you to confirm your location, which I thought was just to confirm that you are at this area, not to confirm your exact coordinate location. If that’s the case, you don’t need this gps feature , as you have to check anyway.

Has potential but not quite there yet.

A really cool concept, I mostly wanted an app that can provide local data on street parking; for example, my boyfriend is a car enthusiast and has more than two cars; which most have to be street parked. I have two cars (also street parked) one of which I drive one daily. It would be nice to see which spots are 72, 48, 24 hours, etc. spots. From what I looked at in the preview video here it seemed to indicate free parking. It also seems there is no data on ‘Meter’ parking at all, even though I see meters all over the main streets in my neighborhood. It seems to be a similar concept to ‘Waze’ where this info is user reported, and unfortunately it seems there aren’t many users in my area (San Diego) yet at all. There is virtually no data on parking spots I can find.A suggestion would be to perhaps apply local city parking laws in the app with ‘defaults’ for spots without a user input. But that might be arduous to implement.Another issue is that Motion Access is no longer in iOS 13 and some features in the app require it. It seems they have not found a workaround for this which is a shame.I think the devs are on the right path, but until the app is more widely used it’s likely not a convenient app for me at this time. Thanks for working on it and hope it grows!
