The app is great and so is the customer service

This app gives keeps you on track for learning Japanese by reminding you almost hourly to review the words you previously learned in lessonsAnother thing is I had an issue with being able to review and error popping up saying “No Data” but I reached out to customer service and they were absolutely amazing in helping. Instead of dealing with a robot trying to solve your problem you get an actually person to chat with while you try to work out your problem.

More fun SRS app than others

This spaced repetition app is much more visually appealing (read: less boring) than others like Anki. If you like Japanese kawaii culture you’ll love this! I’m very happy that Minna No Nigongo has its own deck because I’m using that textbook. Please add a deck for Genki which I and many others also use. One note: I’m not ready for golden time after going through the day’s words one time… or even several times. I don’t remember them well enough to spell them that fast. I have to keep going over them many times first before I’m ready for the golden time challenge. Please make earlier golden time sessions easier because the words aren’t that good in my memory yet. For example, multiple choice at first before spelling a word out with no hint.

Flawless, I recommend it

I just started using MochiMochi and it’s already helped me learn Kanji in which I couldn’t memorize and understand before. The way the app tells you when it’s best to practice is definitely my favorite feature and it prevents me from procrastinating. It teaches you it subtle, simple, and clear mannerisms without being confusing. It has an all in one and I recommend it. 5 stars ☆

MochiMochi

MochiMochi is a great app so far! It’s straight forward, easy to use, and it HELPS! I downloaded it just yesterday, but I feel like I’ve had it forever! It’s helped so much already. The only Kanji I knew before using it was “日本”, a couple of numbers, and countries. Now, my Kanji vocabulary has increased. I love it, and the art style is adorable. I love how it doesn’t rely on Romaji, just Hiragana and plain English. The app seems so professional, I don’t see why more people don’t use it. Way better than Duolingo in helping with memorization. 4.7/5!P.S. It is helpful to know Hiragana before using this app, since Hiragana is basically level 0-3 Japanese, and is really easy to learn. Kanji is by far the most difficult to learn, but having previous Japanese knowledge is very helpful. <3

Fun and appealing!

So far this is the only app that has kept me learning for multiple days in a row. Usually I have a hard time sticking to an app and studying. The only thing I wish is that if you get an answer wrong that you could see the picture again to help with memorizing new words. You only get the picture once when learning the vocabulary. I also wish we could see all the words we have learned in our notebooks just in case we want to review quickly. otherwise this app has been amazing and helpful!

I love the app but…

I love the app, the only thing that’s extremely frustrating is when I do the golden time after 5 words (sometimes 1 word )or so it’s goes to processing the words I did instead of letting me finish the 20 or so I need to. Sometimes my whole app shuts. Imagine 60 words you have to do and having to reopen the app or start golden time over from the beginning after a couple words. I’ve updated my phone and reinstalled the app but no changes.

Some reasons I won’t be renewing

The spaced repetition is great, BUT … 1. NO OFFLINE MODE. This is terrible. The data is already downloaded. Why do you need to be online to use the app? (Syncing could be done later when back online. ) This means you can’t use the app on your long flights to and from Japan for example. Are the developers tracking you??? 2. No ability to review on demand. The app does not allow more intensive review. You just have to wait until a word or phrase comes up. I want to be able to test myself more often. 3. The timing for reviews has no concept of sleep. Requests for review pop up all night long. 4. Lots of errors. Several terms and phrases don’t have audio and a few don’t match what is presented in a sample sentence.

Best Space Repetition App!

This is by far the most effective space repetition, and vocabulary building app I’ve ever used! However, the app could use some quality of life upgrades. Here are some personal pros and cons;Pros-Charming and visually appealing-amazing system for tracking progress-Includes all major Kanji from N5-N1-Uses various methods for memorizing vocab.-Uses “Golden Time” to remind you when to study again.Cons-Not recommend if you aren’t comfortable with hiragana & katakana yet, there are no romaji options as far as I can tell.-App does not consider a sleeping schedule, you can literally receive a “Golden Time” reminder at 3am-Study plans & suggestions are minimal. A simple “that’s enough for today” message could really help those who may have difficulty with pacing.Overall an amazing app! Looking forward to future updates!😊

Great for visual learners

Let me start by stating my goal for learning Japanese first and foremost is to read manga. This app does a great job of introducing you to common kanji and using spaced repetition to help you memorize them. I’ve been studying on and off for half a year but this is the first time i’ve used this app and have already noticed a difference in picking up kanji in manga volumes. Great for starters but only after you have already learned Hiragana and Katakana.

Good, but frustrating

I took two semesters of Japanese and my biggest weakness is learning Kanji. This app seems like a really good tool to learn it.But I have one problem. Yeah, I should use a Japanese keyboard, but I don’t have one installed. So I do romaji inputs when it asks for me to type.This app does not seem to consistently recognize the rule of double consonants (for small tsu in romaji) which can get you dinged for words you would otherwise input correctly. Thus wasting your learning time by delaying learning other words and putting you in a vicious cycle of just getting the same word wrong over and over again (mikka is a good example).Currently I have a bunch of words at level 4… and I have one word stuck at level 1 - Nile River. This word gets counted wrong everytime I input the english romaji and it is no end of frustration for me. If these things could be fixed, this app would work amazingly. But these issues, despite being small, sorta sabotage an otherwise pretty great experience
