something wrong with azw3

It’s a wonderful app, but I found there is something wrong with azw3 book. I have a kindle manga(bought from Amazon),97MB, a colored one, this app can only read the first 58 pages(in total there is 180 pages), but the index works, it shows the title of contents after 58 pages, but can’t show the page number for them. And when I tap the titles after 58pages, the app crashed. So I think there is something wrong with this app reading azw3 format, or big azw3 format files(but colored mangas are always big files). Maybe you can check it and fix the bug??Again, it’s a good app! But please fix the bugs!

The best e-reader in the store

This app is a very well made reader. It allows for a huge amount of customization and works with many ebook formats. It also has a search and download function where you can add your own archives. It honestly has more features than I’m probably aware of. It is the only app I’ve used that can shine a light to the kindle app. All that being said the only feature it is missing and I hope the developers can add in the future is the ability to predict how long until you finish a chapter. In the kindle app it can give an estimate of time remaining in a chapter based on how quickly you’ve been reading.

Is better support for Chinese language possible?

It’s the best offline e-book reader I can find, but as one who read in both English and Chinese, I would be really happy if some features are improved. 1. Lack of support of GBK Encoding. GBK is one of the few encoding methods for Simplified Chinese. This (lacking of) makes some e-books impossible to read in this software. 2. Kind of weird typesetting. Certain punctuations arranged wrongly, e.g., according to the Chinese typesetting rules “》” should never be the first character of a line. 3. Can’t assign font for certain book, only global settings available. This is important because different fonts support (or are designed for) different languages. For example, when trying to use the stock font Georgia to display Chinese characters, it fallbacks to Pinfang (the default Apple font for Chinese). And when trying to use my daily drive Chinese font Source Han Serif to display a chunk of English, it displays some punctuations weirdly. It would be okay if one favors sans-serifs, they can simply use Pinfang, but not me. Also, some books (I think) mark the wrong section (that is, the whole book) as sans serif, and some don’t, so I would also need this function if I’m an English-only reader.

The best out there.

This is a truly wonderful and incredibly powerful reader app. The features that you have at your disposal here are unbelievably intuitive...and when compared with 95% of other reader apps, it’s head and shoulders above the competition. If you have an iPad or other tablet with a decent sized screen, say 7” or more, then you are in store for a real treat! I have the 12+” IPad Pro and I find myself delighting in looking at my digital books in their library almost as much as I like reading the actual books! This is due to all the really cool customization features that are included within...beware though....it is extremely addictive!!! I have zero complaints. Do yourself a favor and grab this app and start building a custom library of beautiful digital books! What? Don’t like the cover art on a particular book? Would you have done better, you think? Well, same here! Guess what...just like the pages of The Good Book (as highlighted in Stephen King’s “The Shawshank Redemption”)...”salvation lies within”! Jump on in here with me, my friends....the water is fine!

Good app but has potential to be better

I really like KyBook 3, particularly it’s ability to handle multiple book formats. Being able to customize your theme is also a feature I really like. Where the app can be improved is in the syncing capability. As of now I have been unable to create an account to login and sync. If I open a book on the app on my phone, the iPad version doesn’t sync so I can access my annotations. I often switch between my phone and ipad so having the app back up to the cloud or sync is important. For example, I can read imported books on the kindle and iBook apps and my annotations are synced across the devices. The lack of synchronization capacity is the main reason I have not made KyBook 3 my only/main reading app.

Probably the best multiformat reader avaible

It good, reliable and easy to use and the OPDS makes it the easiest to connect to commercial and private/personal libraries. The developer answers are sometimes hard to read (and may seem rude) but that is mostly a language issue. Some of the developer decisions are of questionable value - e.g., books wrongly labelled as iso1 when they should be labelled unicode8 are not displayed well on kybook while the Apple books app displays them well - and refusing the use of heuristics when others use them - made me to spend some time and effort to relabel some/many old books (with scripts) that where all usable in other readers. The decision to monetize by charging for sync through a subscription is understandable (the developer has to make a living too) but I am not sure it is wisest.

Was a great app

Version 2 was great, awesome, unique and a must install. Now version 3 and not much has changed but a new pricing model. Why??!??? I paid lads than three months ago and would not mind to upgrade to version 3. Show me the benefits and what is better about. Why not have a discount for version 2 holders? Then on top of that you have a subscription mode? Why do you give me a pro “upgrade” model and then ask for subscription? Ugh. Did Adobe or Microsoft buy you or something. Another day another app that wants to jump on the SAAS model. Very unhappy. I guess I will convert all mobi and epub to pdf or just import into iBooks. Another app down the tube. What is the point of a “subscription” model for this? I understand making some money and keeping it updated so charge me a flat fee. I use it once a month or so, so I am not doing the rolling subscription. Uninstalling and keeping version 2 until a response is heard or you roll back on the decision. I have a cloud subscription for iCloud so why can’t I download and sync with that? I have all my ebooks there already and would love it to see your team utilize iCloud fully. Why get in the business of making a book storage server? Apple and Google can do it way better and cheaper. Please rethink this and stick to what you are good at. Creating a book reader. If this continues I hope Apple buys this app and rolls it into iBooks. Win-win for me. Thanks anyway.

The best but with a couple of defects

I am a book lover and this is the best comprehensive app I’ve found in app store for reading and managing my library, but there are a couple of shortcomings that nags me; first with regard to pdf files the first kybook app (which is not updated any more) had a better pdf engine (or I suppose so) because one could magnify documents to a larger scale and this was very helpful in reading pdfs that were in double page format or the fonts are very tiny(very handy when you don’t have glasses around) and second if you import a book more than one copy (erroneously) and later need to delete extra copies all files are deleted and you cannot save the original copy so you have to keep all copies together (and waste some space) or delete all copies of the book and then import it it again once (if you have access to the book). In the end I recommend you to buy the pro version because it’s very cheap compared to it’s capabilities.

The Only Ebook App You Should Get!

I was surprised how distinguished this app was from it’s counterparts. I only started using this app since it was the only one of ten other apps that allowed me to add books to it via 3uTools. But once I started going through the features, I found that this app was much more than I expected it to be. Dark-Mode was something that I thought was vital for readers, at least for those that read for hours, so I found it abhours that this seemed to be a feature that was either lacking or missing because you didn’t upgrade to “Pro” for $7/Month. That figure didn’t really exist, it’s rhetorical. Long gone are the days when you used to do one-time fees and never worry about it again. But not only can you pay a one-time fee in this app, the reason why I even bought it in the first place was because this app didn’t restrict any features just because you were a free user. At least not any that stood out enough for me to not want to use the app anymore. It had Dark-Mode and the ability to add your own fonts. That’s all I expected Apple to add to iBooks but since it doesn’t seem like they’re moving off of the old iBooks from 2008, you have to find an app that has these features. This app has everything that I need and even more features that I didn’t know I needed. As long as this app offers a one-time purchase option (which was for options I don’t even use) then this app will always be above all the other Ebook apps out there.

Truly Excellent Software that’s Stuck in Beta

I’m fairly certain only one programmer is responsible for the full library of KyBook versions. Every one of them has been well polished and well designed. This is no different, and for that, I applaud the dev. There are a few broken elements including the account creation (though it is superfluous) and some WebDAV integration (there are workarounds), but that doesn’t change diminish my rating at all. I’m sad that the updates seem to have stopped in the last 6 months because there is plenty of potential untapped. For instance, Goodreads integration and syncing metadata (reading position, notes, bookmarks, etc.) with a cloud. Hopefully, this project is not dead!
