Great service, needs a more modern UX

Fastmail is great, and I’ve had no issues that I can recall with the service itself. The settings and options are a little too nested in some cases which makes it a bit cumbersome to change things when needed; albeit not often. The features are great; haven’t found anything I “missed” from my previous email services. In regards to the interface - I’d like to see a more modern take. The app icon was updated today for the 20th anniversary but now it just doesn’t “fit” with the UX - at all. The design is straight forward, but feels dull. I do love the minimalist feel but feel like its a bit behind. Especially since it seems like the app is just wrapping the web interface.

Fast and functional but missing key feature

This might be the only mail app i’ve ever used that doesn’t have the “view all accounts” feature. Even the native mail app on iphone has that feature to monitor several accounts at once. It’s a real bummer, because of that, I can’t use this app . The advantage of this app is very fast notification when emails come through so what I’m doing now is configured my emails on both Outlook iPhone App and Fastmail then I disabled notifications for Outlook App so I only get notified once. This gives me the best of both world although it begs the question should I just be on office 365 then since exchange notifications would be just as fast.If fastmail app can integrate monitor all accounts feature, then I would easily recommend this service to everyone for simplicity and speed without needing third party apps.

Could be so much better

I’ve encountered quite a few bugs with this app specifically on iOS. The notification badge does not correctly reflect the number of unread messages in the app. Also occasionally I won’t receive mail messages until half a day later. The time stamp says it was received at the later time, but the message details says it was sent half a day earlier. Fastmail used to be fast, but the Apple mail app will reflect changes much faster than this app. Then there’s also the slow startup when you first open this app when it tries to sync all your messages. Why can’t I use this app offline? Don’t bother trying to read or reply to messages when you’re in airplane mode.

So secure, I can’t log in!!!

Leo has sung the praises of this service for years, so I decided to try it out. It appears to have lots of great features, enough to satisfy most everyone. Here's the catch. I let Apple choose a difficult password, thinking that it would certainly save it in the keychain, right Apple???No, not a chance of Apple's software actually WORKING correctly. So now, I am left with an email service that I can only use on my phone, and nothing else! In fairness, it appears to me that Fastmail is great. But beware ever thinking to trust Apple's terrible software ecosystem, because you'll end up locked out, much as I am!God, I really hate this system of password logins, whatever happened to using biometrics to create a better verification process??

Great service, wish the app was native

Opened the app this morning to find they’re forcing me to use their preferred font instead of the system font I had selected in the previous version. I looked through the settings and it seems they’ve taken that option away. The dark mode also is custom, and isn’t True Black but instead an annoying very dark gray which makes for a brighter screen at night than is possible if they used the native UI. This app is what you get when web developers don’t actually like the platform they’re developing on, or think they can do better than the OS - it makes for a jarring experience with the rest of the phone. They’ve also increased the amount of white space, and made the font size of the folder you’re currently viewing much larger, creating more wasted space and reducing the number of messages visible on the screen. Why not put it between the menu bar control and the search icon? I love FastMail’s service but am growing to hate the app.

A fantastic service with an iPad app held back by non-native features

I am a very happy FastMail user and I am grateful that they provide apps for both iPhone and iPad that allow push notifications for my mail. That’s honestly more than I was expecting. I am only disappointed as I look deeper into the app. I always use a hardware keyboard with my iPad, and e-mail is a very text oriented service, so I was expecting first class hardware keyboard support with the FastMail app. Instead, there is no support for keyboard shortcuts. I wonder if this lack of support is due to the app being a non-native application? I hope that we might expect better hardware keyboard support in the future, which would make me elevate my review to 5 stars.

Great redesign and service

I’m a happy Fastmail user, and have used Gmail, Office365, Yahoo Mail, and a self-hosted solution in the past to handle my email. Out of all the options, Fastmail made the most sense, even after paying their reasonable fees. Haven’t had more than maybe a hour worth of downtime, and their support is actually useful. Their product is great and is not only super fast, but also secure. I’ve done a great deal of research into their backend/operations, and they are dedicated to security in a multitude of ways, and interested in the “next wave” of technologies for email. The only suggestion I have is for integration for iOS sharing (ex: If I want to share a PDF I first have to save to iCloud then upload that document from iCloud manually into email, whereas with Gmail you can use the sharing extension with one tap).Edit: They added iOS Sharing!!! Yay!!!Only last suggestion: add dark mode for iOS 13??

Tired of Never-Ending UI Changes!

What is it with the never-ending UI changes? It would be one thing if the changes were useful, but they aren’t. One now has to do more tapping to accomplish anything. As of today, the delete button has now been incorporated into the “More” menu in the mobile UI. That means it now takes two taps instead of one tap to delete every email I receive! Seriously? Whose brilliant idea was that?Fastmail has become the new Apple, arrogantly assuming they know what is best for everyone. I’ve been with your company for almost 2 decades now, and have sent multiple subscribers your way. However, this recurring trend of dumbing down the UI and hiding important functions in menus is enough to have me looking elsewhere. Change for the sake of change is beneath you. Knock it off!

More web like than iOS like

I love fastmail service, but find the mail app only okay when compared to the mail app when I can add my fastmail account. It is packed with I think all of the features of fastmail you can accomplish on the website such as editing spam filtering level & other settings, advanced search, and bulk actions.Compared to mail app it is lacking unified inbox (I have 2 fastmail accounts), swiping messages in message list is not customizable (mark as unread would be useful here, and there is no option for confirming delete), sounds are customizable only from their list (need something more subtle), and some functions (mark unread and flag / unflagging) are more buried (under the ellipse at bottom of screen instead of the 3 dot menu at top) than they should be when viewing full message. I also wish viewing a message removed its notification, that 3D Touch was supported as a way to get to other actions for a message, and that I could increase font size. It feels like the great fastmail web service, but on iOS that feels out of place and I’d prefer more ease of use, less functionality, and more iOS conventions adhered to.

Amazing client for Fastmail users, integration with other IMAP servers lackluster

This app is a bit different from other mobile mail clients. While others have design native to mobile, this one feels more like a mobile-scaled version of their web app. Personally, I like this and prefer this app's design to the other mobile mail clients I've tried. My one gripe is that there is no integration to view other mail accounts through IMAP in the same way as the built-in iCloud Mail app. Fastmail can poll other IMAP servers for new mail, but it can only do that for new mail (and not changes to existing messages) , which means you can't use it as a synchronizing client for other inboxes.
