User Reviews for Escape Hunt: The Lost Temples

Really Disappointed

This game looks beautiful. But that’s about all you’re going to get out of it. The controls are awkward and feel totally unnatural and most of the puzzles are fairly simplistic. I was enjoying it well enough, in a relaxing sort of way if nothing else, when I ran into the gigantic tile puzzle wall. Ugh! I hate these. And I know I’m not the only one. I enjoy escape rooms for the sake of figuring out clues and using found items to advance the game. But when I run into tile puzzles I usually just use the hints/cheat function to skip them. IMO, they just lend nothing to a game. But in this game? NOPE. There is no cheat that lets you get past a puzzle you’re stuck on. I just wasted 40 min of my life trying to fight with this stupid puzzle and I’m done. I’m trashing this game and leaving this review and will just have to accept that I wasted $4. Oh well. Whatever. Just hope the makers of this game rethink their useless “hint” book and provide the kind of tools most escape rooms offer.

Disappointing

The game looks really great but there are too many glitches. There is a puzzle where you have to reassemble a lion statue but it forces you to do so from the side where you can’t see what you are doing. You have to get lucky to pass it. Then I got to a puzzle with a boat along side the river. I spent an hour point and clicking before I realized the item that was supposed to be in the boat is missing. I was forced to start over and try again from the beginning of the game. If it weren’t for the technical issues it would be a fun game.

Good game but it has some issues

I love escape games and point and click games. They are my favorite types of games. But this game is falling a little short unfortunately. It has the potential to be a really good game but right now I can’t even finish it. Right now I’m in the room where you get the arrows and as I’m attempting to place the arrows it crashes. I done everything I could think of to prevent it but it still crashes. The controls are done very awkwardly it takes more time to figure out how you are moving vs what you are moving. Tapping on items is a bit of a pain cause it takes more then once to do it. The graphic on the game is top notch and the feel for the story is good. I wish for a bit more of a back story or something like a prequel to the main game. Overall I like the game a lot I just feel the creators miss the mark on a few details.

Painfully Clunky

If you have played any of The Room games from Fireproof, you are pretty much spoiled. They are masterfully designed and the gameplay is seamless. Here unfortunately, moving around the screen on an iPad will frustrate you to no end. Some of the coding makes little sense. In one scene, you must put a sword and a scepter in the hands of a statue. You cannot put the sword first, it has to be the scepter. Why?! Their clue process seems void of much thought and really shows lack of effort. Finally, I gave up on counting the number of times it crashed.

Good escape game

I really enjoyed this game. I dont know why there were so many negative reviews.. the controls were a tad glitchy but not enough to affect the game (the mirror puzzle in the intro was the worst evidence of glitchy controls to overcome in the entire game). The puzzles were intuitive for the most part but not too easy. A couple took some serious thought. I was bummed when it ended and I realized that the developer didnt continue the series. The free intro does give you a good sense of the game. The game took 3-4 hours to play. Definitely worth a few bucks to play the whole game.

Not worth it at all

Honestly the best part of this game is the free trial portion. Once you purchase, the rest of the puzzles are very hard to determine what you need to do. It was easy to figure out the concept of each puzzle, but there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to know what the first correct piece is. Also, the hints are very unhelpful, basically only showing the concept of each puzzle, which I mentioned earlier as being the easiest part of solving this game. Lastly, this game is so anticlimactic at the end, which comes way too soon. Would not buy again, would not recommend, and would not play again either.

Very Disappointing

I love point and click games like this, and this one has so much potential because of the beautiful graphics, but it left me very disappointed. The controls drove me crazy, because moving around is very awkward. It’s difficult to search the room and click on things, because you end up being taken in directions you didn’t want to go. I found the puzzles to be rather easy, but were made difficult only because of the crazy controls. There are only about 3 puzzles per room, and they’re all self-contained within that room, so there really isn’t much to figure out. Plus, the game was way too short for the price. It says “to be continued” at the end, but unless additional chapters are going to be included in an update, it’s really not worth it. I’m definitely not going to pay another 4 bucks to see where this one goes. I would pass on this game, unless they lower the price.

Escape hunt: the lost temples

I was really excited to play this game. The graphics are awesome. I was doing really well until I had to use the machete. It took a while to cut the first vine. I thought there might be a trick to it that I didn’t know and noticed the temple zoomed back a bit before I cut the vine. Then I tried the other vine and no matter what I did it wouldn’t cut. The temple stayed enlarged. I thought it should zoom back like the first time but did not. Bummer. Regretfully, I deleted the game but really wish I could understand why I could not cut the vine so I could continue.

Wonderful puzzles and graphics but too short

We really enjoyed playing this but expected it to be much longer. It is a little difficult to navigate around however somehow added to the charm a bit. It was puzzling that we didn’t get to read items like a found journal and some found items disappeared shortly after finding them. There was an amazing focus on graphics details...for example it had beautiful skies, buildings, and plants. Overall we finished it fairly quickly. We have played worse games for sure, but the Room and DaVinci games were superior due to the length (longer), more of a story line, and more to read/do/explore. That being said, if you have another game I will try it on the hopes that it will be more involved. Very good first start!!! Would be 5 stars if it was longer and had more puzzles per chapter.

Controls and glitches

I’ve played quite a few escape room type apps and i have to say that the graphics are great but the glitchy movements of the interface and controls are making me nauseous. The control for the statues made me want to throw my phone. By the time I got the statues to move to it’s correct place... I’m pretty sure it glitches and just worked because the statue did not match the intended puzzle...and when I got to the machete... my item box disappeared. It zooms into things really close and won’t let you zoom out unless you move to another place. Moving around to find a use for the machete is what really made me feel sick.. I get that it’s supposed to simulate walking but the constant up and down motion... is just not it... for 4 dollars... I would rather pay an extra dollar for The Rooms and House of Davinci or pay a dollar less for the Rusty Lake escape games.
