Very frustrating!

I read the reviews about it being frustrating, but love games like The Room, so I threw caution to the wind. Unfortunately, the reviews were right. Even when you know a piece fits in a puzzle, it takes multiple tries to get it to work. This also means that when you are simply trying out different scenarios with items you have collected you may have been correct but the game is so unresponsive you think you are wrong. For example, I knew the bat knob went on the desk drawer in the puzzle room, but it took so many attempts It became extremely frustrating. Also, in the same room there is a small table where you have to pry out the pieces of metal from the top of it with the screwdriver and it took many many unnecessary attempts to get the screwdriver to “stick” and pry off the metal pieces. With most other games like this, including The Room, simply moving the inventory piece over the target area will get it to be accepted. But with this game, it appears that there are specific ways items must be placed and until you finally figure it out you have worked your last nerve. It shouldn’t be so hard to use or place in inventory item. I wanted to love this game, but sadly, it is way to frustrating to play. I hope the developers read these reviews and take some action to address these issues because this could be a much more enjoyable experience and a great game.

Good looks isn’t everything

Being a huge fan of the Room games I’m constantly looking for something similar. This, however gorgeous looking is not making the mark. The controls are clunky at best, often making you frustrated that you can’t reach a certain angle of view. They are inverted by default but this can be changed, thankfully, if you desire so. The graphics are gorgeous and the puzzles semi hard, but that’s basically the end of it. There is no compelling or believable story - it’s all about mysticism or magic, with most objects not adhering to any kind of laws of physics. The backstory has something to do with a PI investigating murders, but the objects and environment is more like a lucid dream in a magical world. Not only that, the problems seem to have little to do with each other, and the feeble attempt to connect solving a puzzle with the story does not convince at all. Furthermore, the locations where to look for puzzles are sometimesvery unintuitive or hard to find with little clues. Sometimes, a location just isn’t “clickable” until you have gathered a missing object or advanced enough in the story, at which time a device you written off as scenery now becomes interactive. For the casual puzzler, why not try the game - it will give you an hour or so of enjoyment. But for a fan of the Room series, this is a disappointment. However, few succeeds well at their first try so I would still keep my eyes open for future games from the same developer.

Extremely fun but equally as frustrating

I love this type of puzzle game. The graphics are wonderful and the soundtrack is excellent (albeit the voice acting is a little...off). Yet I cannot begin to describe how infuriating it is to be so close to completing chapter 2 but I can’t because of what I imagine to be a bug in the game. I have one last key piece to collect but the alphabet killers alphabet puzzle box will not open after I have successfully arranged the tiles as they should be. All the letters glow blue but what’s supposed to happen next is the background on which the tiles sit should begin to light up as well until a drawer slides out revealing the key. I have restarted this game three times trying to get passed this issue and still no luck. I’m so disappointed at how this experience has gone. I hope this issue is fixed soon.

Everything about this is bad.

This starts off with some promise: an intriguing mystery in a rooms-like puzzle environment. The first chapter is generally fun, but it quickly goes downhill from there. Puzzles become an exercise in frustration due to absolutely horrible controls, and the story becomes so muddled that I actually laughed out loud. You’re investigating something, possibly a murder or murderer...check....ok now someone is playing games with you... check...now I’m unraveling DNA with Chinese tangrams and unlocking my memory so I can...give birth to myself? Person who wrote this story: if you’re on medication, stop immediately; if you’re not taking any medication, grab pill bottles at random until something works. The final area has some of the worst designed puzzles I’ve ever seen. They could have been interesting in more skilled hands, but the controls are so bad for one of them (the hologram tube) that they just give you a fast forward button after 20 minutes that completes it for you. That should let you know what you’re in for right there. Run away, and quickly!

Wow

Ok, honestly this game was great. The graphics were phenomenal, the puzzles were VERY hard, especially the red and blue cube one in the beginning, and the cylinder one later on, and I had to search the internet to find out that a skip button pops up after about 10 minutes of not being able to solve the puzzle. Without the skip button, I was going to quit the game. I was that frustrated. But I had a lot of trouble with the majority of the puzzles, not sure why, I’m a seasoned player of this type of game, but this game really gave me a run for my money, literally. The 3rd chapter was beautiful and the most fun to me with all of the colors at the end. The reviews about the controls and the frame rate problem were accurate. I did not like the controls. I had a lot of trouble getting things to fit and it just seemed to lag every so often. Other than the wonky controls and the lagging, the game was really fun and it took me a few hours to complete. It says “to be continued” at the end, and I hope so. It’s really a great game and deserves 5 stars.

Tried to like this but too many problems

I wanted to love this game. For the first chapter, everything was good. I liked the puzzles and they were a good brain exercise. After that, not so much. The controls are just awful. The clear cylinder puzzle, I know what I needed to do but every time I swiped my finger a different segment would move than the one I wanted. Luckily there’s a skip option but if the developers know the puzzle is so bad, it needs a skip option, then it probably shouldn’t be there. There were times I knew the answer to a puzzle but when I put a piece of something on the correct thing, it wouldn’t do anything so I thought it was wrong only to later figure out it was right, but I wasn’t able to do so due to not placing the object in the tiny exact spot it needed to be in. The last area with the rainbow puzzles require very little thought other than “how do I make the game recognize my finger movement.”

Really want to like it but some problems impede

So far I am enjoying the concept and style. The camera however, while exploring, does not feel smooth. Almost like the frame rate dips or my device is not able to handle the game (playing on a iPhone 8+ with plenty of remaining storage and up to date) kind of disappointing as when I examine an object, it feels perfect and smooth to rotate the camera around it but far from it when back to the “room” to explore more. The controls occasionally feel a bit “off” during some puzzles as well. Like others, I find it misreading inputs more than acceptably and it tends to impede what I feel I could otherwise do with minimal effort. On the plus side.. I do feel like the primary flaws are control and visual stutter while exploring (frame rate?) while this is definitely unfortunate for the time being, I can see this being a great “Room”-like game and very enjoyable to many fans of puzzle and exploration type games. in its current state though, I cannot rate above my very generous 3 stars, and truly hope this game is updated swiftly. The effort shows, and I very much enjoy the premise as well as the “true crime” feel, so I sincerely hope you fix the issues and turn this into the great game it easily could and should be. Will gladly update my review if/when an update hits

Almost good! SO close!

The puzzles themselves are wonderful, they really are! BUT there are details in the game play and controls that are lacking or irritatingly off. One moment, everything flows well, pieces fit together, clues are deliciously challenging but it all makes sense. The next moment, you can’t get a piece to rotate quite correctly, or something is the tiniest fraction of a millimeter off, or a piece which rotated clockwise the last three times you touched it suddenly rotates counter-clockwise, or the camera shifts wildly when trying to adjust your view of a clue, or that switch you need to turn won’t budge until your 5th try... It’s these little details of functionality that really, REALLY start to get to you after awhile. To get stuck for 20 minutes on a puzzle only to find with a walkthrough that you were CORRECT in the first place, but the lack of fine control screwed you over, is frustrating. Like other users, I WANT to like this game, I really do! But it’s just not there yet. Some fine tuning and this thing could HUM, but it’s a bit too frustrating at the moment.

Mixed Feelings

I also read the reviews about bad controls, but decided to give this a chance. There is much to love about the game- some fun puzzles and great graphics. Most of the time, the controls are just fine and very intuitive. But there are some serious problems, starting with the glass cylinder puzzle and moving on from there. The glass cylinder puzzle is a horrible puzzle in and of itself, but the controls for it are just awful, too. I nearly gave up the game until a friend told me about the “skip” function- which is totally non-intuitive. Please just get rid of that puzzle. And the control problems persist from there. It’s like two separate games- the one before the glass cylinder puzzle and the one after. Before, everything works smoothly and is interesting, and afterwards, everything is a disaster. The “rainbows and camera in space” puzzles are terrible, horribly difficult to control, and frankly just boring. So this game is both a great and a terrible game in one package. I’ll be interested to see what the developers do next- and for the record, I’ll probably buy their next game to see how (hopefully) they’ve improved.

It’s ok

It’s no Eyes of Ara, nor does it come close to The Room, Legacy, DaVinci House or even Returner or 157, but I’m running out of games. Graphics and controls are decent. Most puzzles are good and some quite challenging, more so than other games, but also employs knowledge about things not inherent to logic that I did not have before this game and had to look up on the internet. I was thankful for a background in chemistry, but no clue about zodiac or trigrams. Although many games are logical, some are “read the author’s mind” puzzles, which are particularly annoying. The controls sometimes change depending on the game and sometimes the author’s order of things is incorrect (zodiac). The story line helps only within the specific/individual room, and is overall complete nonsense. Perhaps this was intended? Overall, fun, decent length and cheap as these games go, but could use a good bit of work. And what’s with the shoe?!
