User Reviews for Spades Card Classic

Unfair

The pros in this game always get dealt 5 6 7 and 8 hands. I have played this game for a while now and I have yet to get dealt a 7 or 8 hand. When one of the others plays nil and starts with a high card the rest ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS will take it instead of setting that person. If you have ANY and I mean ANY spades in your hand DO NOT bid nil because they will use all their spades and leave you set at the end. The scoring also seems off. If you do get a nil bid and have twice or three times as many points as the rest they will catch up quickly because you get crap to bid on. Also when you play partners your own partner screws you by trumping in and taking your point. This game is ridiculous. 99% of the time you cannot bid over a 1 or 2 because you get dealt NOTHiNG to bid with and the other 3 ALWAYS get 5 6 7 and 8 hands. It is so unbalanced it is not funny. No I don’t expect to win but Jesus half a chance would be nice. Don’t play partners you can do better by yourself.

Completely unrealistic!

My bot partner has trumped my ace with a spade multiple times. This was the last straw. I deleted the app right after this happened. Human players would never do that during normal game play. No other spades game app does this!!!Also, cards are not dealt randomly. My partner and I are outbid and outscored almost every round. It is not a difference of 10 points, either. It is a difference of 20-40 points every round. After we have two successful nil bids, we are still behind by 50 points! Usually, when we bid nil, our opponents will get great cards and total 90 or 100, which is a glaring example because when they bid nil, my partner and I don’t get great cards and usually only score 60-70. I only have two options to try to win, set my opponent or sandbag to penalize them. Also, bots do not adapt. They are predictable every single round. Humans play different when they are covering a nil bid. No human player would ever lead out with a 2 or 3 unless they knew their partner had exhausted that suit. I have been burned several times and other reviews have mentioned the same issue. Plus, saving spades and facecards to the very end instead of using them to make your bid is backwards but that’s what my bot partner does and I actually have to work to prevent extra books. I often lead out with spades to try to exhaust them. I am done.

Pro level needs improvement

Overall this a pretty good game. But I only give it three stars because of an obvious flaw in programming on the Pro level. For whatever reason, when one of the computer players bids nil, the other players will never try and intentionally set that player by making him or her take a trick. It can and does happen, but rarely, and that’s just not realistic. In a real game when someone bids nil, the other players will at least make some small effort to force that player to take a trick. But it’s stable and not buggy and seems to operate fine except for a few things like the example I mentioned.

Bags situation makes me 😞

I don’t think I’m keeping app.. I can’t take not knowing how many bags I’ve accumulated!! I mean, there’s no way of knowing how they even keep score of sandbags, which’s odd bc there’s an option for it & I have it on!!🤨 Also, there’s not a lot of options, No Home Screen at all & if I completely close out of app, same hand reappears later, even if there’s no bid.. don’t like restarting entire 500 point game, for a redeal!! Also, the adds, tho they’re short, very hard to close a few, ad ❌ too small, prob not formated for a game played with the phone tilted on its side!? 🤷🏼‍♀️ However, I do like the current design & visual options & automated play, the way it’s laid out without seeing the ppl, etc..

Pretty Good

My opinions only ! Don’t track me down and sue me !!!Nice interface and no annoying real people. Ad after each hand but it’s short. As others mentioned AI has some issues. It will frequently pass an opportunity to stick your opponents in partners who have bid Nil, even when the trick isn’t necessary to making your own bid. The AI also often over plays or over trumps you on last play of a trick when the trick is already yours and they had other cards to play. AI could use a “Champion” level. Any decent player will eventually win every game against Pro in singles or partners. The other two levels are extraordinarily easy to beat and would only be interesting to a novice. Oh, to the commenter who thinks sandbagging is confusing or broken, sorry, the sandbagging penalty works perfectly. You ( or you and your partner in doubles ) hit ten sandbags ( unbid points ) and you go down 100. To track it, just watch your single digit points. When it reaches zero ( for having reached 10 sandbags ) you’re penalized. A nice improvement would be an option to go down if you miss your bid. Some people play spades that way. But otherwise, nice. Had really been looking for a decent version without mandatory real people.

Works great - one modification

Love the game. Works great. One change at the pro level I would love to see. When a computer player goes Nil, the other computer players don’t play at the pro level to try and set them. I had one that was about to win if they didn’t get a trick. First player played low card, I played low, the Nil player was forced to beat our two cards and then the fourth player played the Ace. I watched and they had the lower card in that suit they played it later. They could have set them and not lost the game. A pro player would have done that to try to win.

Great and quick

The game is very addictive and the app is so clean and moves quick HOWEVER, I’ve noticed after having this app for a while a pattern of fixed games contrary to another persons opinion I saw. Pay attention to how the games player Charlotte VERY OFTEN BID 0 BOOKS and watch how you’ll see that computerized player CONSTANTLY AND PURPOSELY THROWING AWAY HIGH CARDS THAT ARE BOOKS BASICALLY SABOTAGING THEIR HAND TO NOT GET BOOKS AND GET PENALIZED 100 pts but the live player (me) can actually NOT HAVE BOOKS AND THE GAME WILL SET IT UP WHERE I FOR EXAMPLE LEAD OUT WITH A 7 OF CLOVES AND THE COMPUTERIZED PLAYERS WILL PLAY A 2, 3, and 5 OF CLOVES WHICH WOULD CAUSE ME TO WIN A BOOK AND GET SETBACK -100 PTS. BUT WAIT😱 AFTER THEY SET ME UP TO WIN WITH A MISLEY 7 OF CLOVERS THESE COMPUTERIZED PLAYERS WILL LATER IN THAT SAME HAND START PLAYING THEIR HIGH CLOVERS. That’s not right and very bias and needs to be fixed especially if the developers start to make this a bigger game where real money is involved

Impossible ads

I played this game every day. Multiple times. I didn’t so much mind the ads. But now, there are several ads where the X to close the ads are buried so high in the corner that it takes acute precision to hit the X instead of launching the ad. Not to mention hard to see X’s with the use of color tricks. Just give me real options in ads. Clearly marked open and close buttons are greatly appreciated. As for the impossible ads, I will never buy or use your product and when I see them in a game, even games I love, such as this one, I’ll quit the game and delete it. No accidental, unintended clicks, just stop playing and delete the game. Game developers should pick ad partners wisely. My time, my money, my choice. Bye Spades. It was fun for awhile. Hope you love your relationship with your impossible ad partners cause this customer is done with you.

Major scoring flaw

I’ve tolerated the fact that “pro” isn’t how a pro would even play. For example the computers never try and set other players, but only get there books. This issue I’ve just adjusted my game to allow players that didn’t go nil to get books and then I can set the nil player, I also will make the players pay by making them sandbag. But the one issue I have a hard time over looking is how it on occasion it won’t set a players score back if they get set. I set Isabella twice when we were both over 300 points, but her score remained the same. The score cards just said +0 for her two back to back rounds. Will not play again unless good explanation is given or issue corrected.

Partner plays against you

I really liked this app the first couple of weeks playing , now NOT SO MUCH! It’s pretty bad when your partner plays against you! When I’m playing nil and the opponent plays a low card my partner will throw his highest spade instead of his lowest. By the time you need a high spade played, he doesn’t have one! Totally stupid!!! If this were a real game, by time I stopped cursing at the idiot they’d leave. Lol. Also if the Ace was already played and I have the king, he’ll trump it, and I fall short! You never trump your partners point if you can’t make up the point!! The other downside is there is an add between EVERY hand. That’s excessive! Last game I had that wasn’t the case! One the good side you get two different strategies between Standard and Pro. I beat the Pro players more then the Standard players. The standard players play dirty. It’s easier to accumulate bags playing them then it is to try to get the most points per hand…If that makes any sense to you!?? So bottom line for me…I really like to play Spades, so I’ll keep looking for the perfect game; but from what I can tell there isn’t one out there! So my dog will just have to deal with me cursing and yelling at my phone a few more weeks! Thanks for reading! Good luck to all!
