Works well but could be improved with more lighting color control

Overall the app works pretty well and was easy to set up. My complaint is that on the lighting control section there are a few preset lighting “themes” or styles that scroll through a myriad of colors but if you want just one color you only have a handful of set single colors to choose from. There should be a simple color palette ability where you can slide your finger to a point on the palette and the led lights render that color. They have the ability to do way more colors in the color themes but you get very few preset single colors to choose from if you don’t want the scrolling colors. Then you should be able to save a handful of those “custom” colors so that you can go back to them at will. If that can be added to this app, I would give it 5 stars.

Like the ease of use

I gave dad fir a few years now and despite my builder make my S.O.S. lights ( pool lights) and vice versa I have had no issues until recently where I can not access remotely anymore. It was a feature or take out into play with an email about a year or so ago and I immediately updated to allow this. Last month or two it has not worked just like my widget won’t work. Everything is set up to feed off if my cellular as well as WiFi, but I still can’t access/login to my system remotely like I used to. I liked this so I could warm up my spa before I got home. Hopefully it is just a bug that can be fixed. Or if u have a suggestion I’m all ears. For this reason I gave 4 stars. But before this I had no trouble. But I don’t have a ton of accessories nor do I have a need to play with my settings much. Lights and cleaner as well as pool on schedules and all goes very smoothly.

very convenient, has light control bug

I find the screenlogic and this app to be more convenient to use on a daily basis than my mobiletouch2. The pool, spa, heater, and light controls are conveniently arranged on the app for quick access. I now use mobiletouch2 primarily for setup of pump, valve, etc.With that being said, I agree with other reviews that request additional features. The newest app version adds super chlorinate control and intellipump controls. Very nice.The current app seems to have a bug on the iPhone or iPhoneX - the lighting control screen (color synch, color control, etc) does not show properly on the iPhone. It shows only the light on/off controls. So I need to go to my pc or mobile touch controller to activate color motion. (edit) ( Note, I can see the proper color controls when I connect to my pool using an Ipad with this app, so I think it is an issue with the iPhone or IphoneX version. This issue is reproducible by Pentair tech support using their iPhone with remote access to my system.)As an aside, I would also like to be able to back up all the screen logic screen and adapter board settings to a backup file for restore everything in case of screenlogic equipment replacement. As I understand from Pentair there is no such backup/restore function currently.

Schedule issues-update

IF you have a problem please contact Chris! He will help.I’ve increased my star rating from a 2 to a 4. I’ve been in touch with Chris and he has been VERY responsive. The problem was “user error”....me. Everything has been fixed and the schedule is running as it should be. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the system is limited. I have the automated system called a easytouch psl4 and that system has a maximum 4 programs available to it. I had too many items scheduled (egg times do count as a program). This is not the fault of the app, but the system. We may have been told that when the pool was set up, but there was so much information given to us when we started the pool up it wasn’t something we remembered. We have had issues trying to use the schedule feature since we bought the pool less than 1 year ago. It has never consistently worked. Recently I deleted our current schedule because we had to run the pump continuously to circulate chemicals. I’ve tried repeatedly to add a schedule, but it isn’t working. I can start the pool manually with the app, but I really don’t want to have to do that on a daily basis. VERY frustrating!!

Lights and schedules need more functionality

App works “ok”. Been using it for almost a year. Way better than having to control at the equipment for sure. However, it lacks a couple of key functions. 1. Give us the ability to choose ANY light color we want. These are LEDs…very disappointing. It’s the whole reason I chose these lights. I didn’t even bother to research, just assumed in 2022 we had full control. Scratch my head kind of thing…2. Allow us to pause/ignore the schedule. When heating the spa, it flips into pool mode at the scheduled time, and floods the spa with cold water wasting time and money. Very annoying in the winter. You have to be standing there and catch it immediately. And if this available, it’s certainly not intuitive.

New app is a great foundation but needs fixes

I’d like to preface everything said with the fact that I’m still a big cheerleader for Pentair products, I really do love them and install them weekly. I’m really liking the new layout and intuitive nature of the app. The addition of egg-timer option in the schedules menu is great and will help tremendously with the ever so popular ‘I forgot to turn off my spa’ issue. However, a few things are not so intuitive. Not sure about the widget support and how to make this work right. Also, and most importantly, what happened to the solar option in ‘heater’ settings. I’ve had multiple customers ask me what happened to ‘solar’ heating option when they updated their app. Please help restore this feature and/or create documentation that details how to control this via the app. Many of my customers rely solely on this app for control and communication of their pool equipment.

Really flaky, you never know what it going to do

For such a critical function of controlling your pool this app is terrible. To be fair though it not clear how much of the problem is the App and how much is the Pentair controller. You can set schedules on the App but if you set more than 12 they never execute. You have to understand the restrictions on the controller coz the App won’t tell you. You might think 12 is a lot but it’s not. If you set a timeout for any function (eg turn spa off after 30 mins) those count toward the 12. Pretty much every function needs a time-out otherwise it will stay on indefinitely. Then if you set two times of the day for one function that also counts as 2 of the 12. Before you know it you can’t control all the functions using the App or even the controller for that matter. Worst part is the App won’t tell you that. What you see is absolutely not what you get. You might think, just use the controller but that is not really practical unless you are adept at using 1980’s style LCD programming. Considering how much these things cost it is absurd that they can’t make a controller and App appropriate to this century. Pentair, please fire you software guy and find a new one.

Poor system

We had a pool installed this year and our biggest requirement was having the ability to easily control all of our functions remotely. Our installer recommended and installed the pentair equipment, it works great about 25% of the time. We constantly have issues connecting our mobile devices and we were told by our installer that the pentair remotes won’t work in conjunction with the mobile app. The installer has been out repeatedly and at this point we are both fed up with the product. I’ve called pentair, they recommended changing the antenna, transmitter and protocol adapter but they won’t send me the equipment because I’m not an installer. Frustrating after spending $100k for a pool that’s supposed to provide relaxation!!I’ve had two other friends install pools and that contractor uses jandy products. They have zero trouble out of very similar pools with spas, sheer descents, bubblers etc

App feedback

There’s no place to go provide feedback. And the app support button only brings up the Pentair website. Which is not the most intuitive or user-friendly interface. I provided feedback on the safety delay when you turn on a feature that has a safety delay it just turns the button back off and when you don’t know what’s going on you think there’s something wrong. A pop-up window notifying of the safety delay would be a great solution to inform the users of why the feature will not come on. And a tab somewhere within the menu of the app to provide app feedback on things like this would be awesome. To get the information to the right people . also, synchronizing the time with iOS and setting daylight savings does not appear to work. The majority of the pools I service have screen logic and I have to set the time from the panel. On all of them.

I’m sure the app would be better if…

… if Pentair’s actual controller were better, particularly with lighting.I’m glad that I even have the ability to get status updates and to give commands to my pool and spa through this app. That being said, I took a look at the Pentair ScreenLogic API commands and from what I can tell, the developers of this app made it as user friendly as they possibly could given the limitations of Pentair’s own ScreenLogic motherboard. Ideally, this app would allow you to save multiple custom color profiles on the app or even offer a color wheel to select a specific color, and then send that color from the app to the controller. Unfortunately the controller just isn’t designed to receive that kind of command. It’s designed to only receive a set of integers to set the color or Intellibrite modes, and one of those integers represents a “save” command that tells the controller to save the current color in the selected Intellibrite setting. Another integer represents a “recall” command to recall the last color you saved from the Intellibrite modes. Unfortunately, the only color that can be saved is saved on the motherboard, not on the app. I’m sure the developers of this app were just as frustrated as we are concerning this limitation. If the Pentair ScreenLogic motherboard could receive RGB color values from the app, then the app developers would have made sure to offer us that feature.
