No Bike Lanes and No Battery Drain

I did not notice any battery drain on my IPHONE XR. Also am wondering if The Met Council members will all be having heart attacks when they discover from my rMove survey that I did not use any bicycle lanes or trails during my seven days nor did I use any of the unavailable Metro Transit services to go from my home to anywhere whenever I wanted.

Thumbs up!

I used rMove for 7 days as part of a state transportation survey. There was a monetary reward for finishing out the week so that was helpful to the whole process! Since I don’t own a car I was more than happy to use the app to record my daily bike trips and dog walks in hopes of improving safety and upkeep of dedicated bike pathways, neighborhood parks, and to increase bike awareness on roads.

Mostly Unobtrusive, Very Helpful Reminders

I used remove for a week-long SF Bay Area transit survey and had a pretty good experience. I didn’t notice any extra drain on my battery with location services being enabled in the background. I really liked the feature where commute trip surveys would be pre-filled with answers from similar earlier trips as many of my trips were the same.

Too much battery consumption + no reward! Don’t bother!

I participated in a travel survey, and while I was willing to do the surveys as requested, I could only do about a few day’s worth of them! This app uses so much background data it depleted my iPhone’s battery within just a few hours! And that’s with a totally new phone. It’s totally unacceptable, and there should be a process that lets you record data only while the app is open. On another note, even after doing the surveys, the company went on to say I didn’t complete enough to be eligible for my reward, thus I won’t be receiving anything. That’s ludicrous! Not only did I do what they asked, I had to do these surveys on a battered battery! Don’t even bother with this travel surveying app. Not only will it take a hit on your battery’s health, they won’t even acknowledge or compensate you for your time. It’s simply not worth it.

Cannot enable Location Services

UPDATE: This seems to be fixed now. Glad to see that. Will update again after using it a bit more.ORIGINAL REVIEW:No matter how many times and how many ways I open the app and close the app with location services enabled and/or disabled in iOS settings, this app cannot seem to figure out how to ask for permissions to use location services. So essentially I cannot use it. I've wasted way too much time with this already for something that's useless to me and to the county putting on the survey.

Great app

Easy and straight forward. Maybe takes a little more battery but if you’re using it for a weeks worth of surveying it’s really not a huge problem to accommodate. I actually didn’t notice the battery usage but I saw it on reviews. My smartphone battery life didn’t seem to budge any quicker with the app in progress. I enjoyed using it though, I thought it was interesting learning about my own travel behavior.

Kinda Creepy

Overall the app doesn't seem too bad, but it continually prompts for access to Motion & Fitness data, which is really kind of creepy. The app already has full background access to precise GPS data, which is really all they should need... While I am sure that the Motion data would give the app slightly better results, there is absolutely no reason to access the Fitness data -- and since the two are linked, I don't view this as worth the trade off. Please at least give us a way to opt out of Motion/Fitness for the duration of the survey. Thank you for listening.

Really well done

This is a really well done, intuitive app. It monitored everywhere I went almost all accurately. The only stumbling block is if I park my car and go to the supermarket and then walk past my car to go back to the apartment.(I live in Manhattan and drive- call me crazy.) It becomes a little hard to track everything. But those little minor issues don’t overshadow a wonderfully planned app. Congratulations to the app makers!

Does not save data to cloud

Beware if you have an accident with your phone and the survey period ends you are locked out of your account and cannot finish. Worse when your partner did the whole survey period and you spent 5 days also doing the work. The surveys and feedback can be time intensive and give no indication or heads up on time estimate. This app would be better if you could indicate home and other places you go often. At least gmaps has this feature. If you want to get paid the same amount for less work sign up for usertesting.

Good app

I thought the app was great for recording my movements! Liked the intelligence it had when a roundtrip occurred or whether I was shopping again or just walking around for exercise. The route I took from walking to a bus stop, taking BART train, stopping for lunch restaurant, then walking to my final destination ... then back home 4 hours later, was recorded and accurate. The app had questions to guide you thru the different types of movement. It was actually entertaining to see how the app would react! I hope the local regional transportation can use the data to improve local transportation needs and efficiencies.
