Great app!

Easily worth a couple bucks.Feature request: a little haptic feedback when I press the next/previous word buttons, or when I change directions. I think that would help me not make so many mistypes. (That way I quickly know whether I’m typing letters or navigating)Also, this isn’t a big deal, but there’s an error tracking mode bug where a blank square gets highlighted red if you previously used the space bar to skip it.

A little buggy

Every once in awhile the app will download two copies of the same crossword. Then when you click on the crossword to open it, it shuffles through the duplicate crosswords and goes back to the menu, making it unplayable. As far as I can tell, no work around for this so I just have to wait until the next day to try again. When it does work, I really enjoy the app though.

Rare gem

It’s rare these days to find an app that’s genuinely free - no in-app purchases, no advertising, no upfront cost. And it’s even more rare for that app to actually be good. This is a fantastic app for the crossword lover. It provides access to multiple major newspapers’ crosswords, daily, totally gratis. It has all of the features you would expect a crossword app to have. I can’t recommend it enough.

Great app! Could be better with two tweaks

Love that I can finally get some of these favorite crosswords without paying for the paper! Love that you can choose to use the timer or not. Would love to see two things: 1. Make the clues bigger! Some of us don’t have 20/20 vision, and the minuscule clues are SO very hard to read, even on my large iPad. 2. Allow us to tab to the next word. Having to click the > on the screen to get to the next word is frustrating.

Uses too much battery

I have to echo the other reviewers that have mentioned this app using way too much battery. Even taking five minutes to solve a quick puzzle uses 6 or 7 percent of battery life which is way too much. Hopefully further updates will address this issue, because outside of the battery problem this is a wonderful crossword app

Great app for crossword lovers

It’s free, so I can’t really complain. I love that I can do crosswords from different papers and it’s in one app. No ads which is pretty awesome, I would gladly pay for it. However, there are a few things worth noting. I wish there was an area inside the app to submit bug reports. I’ve run into a few issues the past 3 months or so and want an easy way to submit them. I don’t think sharing on the App Store page is great but I didn’t see another way.It kills my phone battery. I am on an iPhone 12 with latest iOS. Working on 2 crosswords kills my battery from 90% to ~50%. Maybe this is an iPhone issue but I also notice my screen gets dark when on this app and I can’t adjust it to be brighter (brightness is already at 100). There seems to be a lot more bugs since last month (early June), e.g. app doesn’t refresh to show new puzzles no matter what I do, some puzzles appear broken and can’t enter text into squares, etc. Just today, 3 crosswords appear twice and I can’t enter text into any of them without it kicking me back to the puzzle list screen. All that said, it’s free, no ads, simple UX, so this is my favorite crossword app by far.

Strong like… with potential to love!

Really a great app, and the price can’t be beat. The one feature suggestion I have is to sync progress to my Game Center or other similar account. I’d love the ability to start a puzzle on my iPhone, then pick it up later in the day on my iPad when I’m back home.Other than that, this is great… thanks so much for the app!

Crossword Lovers: this app is a must-have!

If you love working crosswords you will have to have this app. It has quickly become one of the most essential apps. The only thing I wish that would be added is a setting to jump back to the first blank in an answer when you are filling it in, a tiny complaint and not enough to affect my rating. Thank you!

Love this app!

I love being able to do all of the crosswords from major publishers at no expense and in one place, and with no ads!!! Highly recommend! My only complaint is that we can’t donate to the developer - I would love to support continued improvements!

Clues aren’t there

I was so excited about downloading this app because I love crossword puzzles! But the clues aren’t showing up….at all. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled and still no clues. It’s unusable for me. So disappointed!!Thank you so much for fixing this for me! So excited to do the crosswords!!

Crossword app for iOS that is simple, free, and quick. Puzzles from major outlets are automatically fetched, so all you need to worry about is solving them!
