Great on desktop, not so much as an app
I bought a membership for Milanote because I really enjoyed the desktop application, but on mobile it’s usefulness is not so great. I can’t move around cards so columns are useless, using the app messes with my layout, my ability to customize new cards is cut in half. I know that some things just aren’t gonna work the same on mobile , but the only thing mobile is currently good for is viewing the stuff you did on desktop and checking boxes. I hope in the future the developers are able to invest more time into the app, because I think a lot of features could translate very nicely to mobile.
Crashed for 24+ Hours
How can a web-based app crash for two days with no communication to its users and evidently no business continuity plan or server backup system??? Now Milanote seems sketchy, small and unreliable as compared to the big names in note apps. Can I really trust putting my critical notes (or even my unimportant notes) into Milanote anymore? Had to go to Twitter to get any info at all, only to see some confusing and minimal posts about updating my DNS cache and how their website registrar was holding them hostage (this shouldn’t be your users’ problem). The tweet triumphantly said “we’re back up!” but my app and website are both still down. Frustrating and unacceptable way to run a business and treat your paying customers.
Spectacular App — Some Issues
Hello! Thanks for reading this review. If you are a potential downloader (LOL), I’d like to say that this app is awesome! Very easy to use, simple, as well as practical and aesthetic. This app can be used for many things, specifically organizing. I use it mostly to organize my books. It’s very useful and the functions are amazing! My favorite part is the template option, as there are so many of those to choose from! However, there are a few bugs. Specifically on my phone whenever I open certain ‘Boards’ the app will crash. It does not work unless I re-download it, which is impractical. Also, there are a few lacking features that could be added. Milanote handles it all well, though! (Milanote Pro is quite expensive, LOL. However, it is amazing and worth it considering how often I use it!) It’d be superb if you guys could add a custom background option. Unnecessary, yes, cool, also yes.
Five Stars - but…
I rarely ever write reviews, and maybe only once have I ever written one for an app… but let me tell you, as a college student who is constantly trying to keep my productivity fresh and new and engaging - this application is the ticket. I am so glad I found it. First, the desktop site is nearly perfect (my only complaint is that it’s very hard to unlock something and resizing can be a bit challenging). I love that it is minimal but still plenty customizable if you like to do different things for different projects or different classes in my case. The mobile apps are as one would expect with some variation from the desktop. I am still in the process of customizing for my specific needs but I’m loving it… so much so that that it may possibly replace all the others that I currently use. Oh and one more thing… the template library is phenomenal and actually useful for me. So many productivity templates or notes templates just don’t work - but Milanote offers so many that it’s easy to find one or a few even, and then customize! 4.95 stars so I rounded up!
I owe you my creative success
Since I saw this app and used the first 20 cards, I knew I would buy it. I started to invite my friends at first until I got 100 cards. And I filled them within a week of understanding what this app does. It changed my life, my workflow, and my creative process.I used to collect my moodboard on my file browser, then got from folder to folder and open the image to look at it, then go back to my sketch or my photos or while brainstorming. When I started with Milanote it all changed. I would use the phone app to write my tasks, brainstorm on the spot, organize my shot list and locations all in one place, look at my moodboard before a photoshoot, never miss a task, follow up and assign tasks to my teammates and share my marketing plan on the spot with prettiest illustrations. Amazinggjjdsjdjdjjd GET THIS APP RN
This app is truly amazing!! I heard abt this app from a sponsored YouTuber and it seemed pretty cool so I downloaded it… let me tell u how much better the app is than I thought.. I wanted to use it to make a mood board for my new room and it organizes everything exactly how I imagined it in my head.. u can add pictures u find from the internet (it’s especially helpful if u add milanote as an extension on your browser so that when u click a picture online, it has a link to immediately save it to your board you are working on in the app) after u add the pictures u are able to overlap them and really bring out exactly what u were thinking in your mind.. I’m rlly picky with some things and especially what my room will look like but me just adding a few designs while keeping in mind my color palette, it all came together perfectly.. u also can add little boxes that act as paint samples so you can rlly see the color palette you are going for.. and u can also add arrows to talk abt specifics with your board and other added ideas you would want!!!! It’s truly an amazing app!!! GO GET IT
The desktop is great. The app is poor.
Milanote is an AMAZING tool for visual storytelling or conceptual ideas down to your final design. I love it. It makes planning as fun as organized. I love that you collaborate and get feedback from people who don't even have an account. I love that it syncs up across the board too. With that said, the app is nothing like the desktop version. You can't do so much on here. No drag and drop. You can barely edit things. It's just a mirror of what you've done on the desktop. So if you need a reference, sure. But planning is not much of an option on this app. There is no iPad version which is sad.
The only digital note package that has worked for me
I’ve been using this for months now, absolutely the best tool for a neurodivergent mind. So easy to share boards while still protecting your info. Has helped with both personal and professional creative projects. Love the templates, easy to navigate, has word processor, easy to drop images into, light and dark mode, worth the price after you reach the cap. I’ve turned two of my other friends (photographer and filmmaker to my writer/game designer) onto it and they love it too!
Great! Please roll out a dedicated iPad app.
I just discovered Milanote today and I’m incredibly impressed! It’s already helping me pull together an idea I’ve been brainstorming for a novel for the better part of a year. I love how intuitive the platform is, and how easy it makes to export and even set up collaboration.The only thing missing is a dedicated iPad app. A macOS and iOS app exist, but nothing for iPadOS. Is something on the way? I certainly hope so. If that comes together, this will EASILY become a 5-star review. In the meantime, I’ll stick to a browser if I’m accessing Milanote on my iPad.
I wrote a book using Milanote!
I’ve been using the desktop version of Milanote since it launched and I love it! Milanote has the flexibility and intuitive interface that helps me keep control over my crazy ideas. I used it to gather ideas, quotes, and images for my soon-to-be published book and I developed a workflow that makes it my go-to app for creative projects. I love how the iPhone app integrates perfectly with the desktop/web. I use the iPhone app mainly for gathering materials and jotting down thoughts which I then organize on my desktop or laptop browser. This is a great asset for writers, teachers, and creatives (and shared boards help for collaboration).
