Good potential, terrible execution

I just got done dropping out of my clan and deleting this game after playing for just under a week. I was just about to finish leveling my City Hall to 6 and unlocking my 4th boat, but at this point I honestly didn’t care because the longer I played the more I saw the matchmaking feature got worse and worse. Every time I increased my attack power I would get defenders that way overpowered me to the point that I couldn’t find viable battle opponents for regular battles and ESPECIALLY Clan league battles.It became ridiculous when I was tapping next for literally 10 minutes and just got page after page of opponents that overpowered me by 10k or more. So, forget this stupid spiral down the drain, I’m glad I didn’t invest any money because it’s shocking that, as a new player, I literally experienced diminishing returns in less than a week. It usually takes a few weeks to start hitting these types of walls and money grabs, but being a fresh player and ALREADY getting smacked down by terrible matchmaking to the point that I can’t even play anymore is crazy dumb.Good luck devs! I have no idea what your gameplan is, but you chased me off in record time. Congrats.

Did not receive battle pass. You made fixing it hard.

Payed 3.99usd for a pass. Did not receive the payed for item, but you took my money. Tried to email you at you're preferred email; was kind, official, and even complimented the game. You sent back a cold automated message saying “not in office for weekend” (it was Wednesday) then instructions on what info my next email should contain. I don’t have time to deal with this and my work emails so I had to wait until Friday. No additional emails from them, no concerns from them, no care. I sent out the additional info about 20m ago, except it’s Friday at 9:00pm they aren’t in office on the weekends and AND the battle pass ends in “1d 21h” so at this point I might want a refund Becuase I won’t get the additional items from the season I blazed through.I liked the game, but you aren’t helping me help you, so 1 star. Work on communication with these issues. “Money ain’t no joke” as they say.

Dishonest

This game is all about money. You can’t catch up with the big boys unless you spend money and they will pick on you. I played and spent a lot of money and even with money you have to spend so much in order to keep up. AND THERE ARE ALOT OF GLITCHES and when it is you lose your troops and they will ask exactly when and where and proof of your purchase and most times when that happens it’s so long ago you already combined the troops and so it’s Impossible to provide proof cause there gone so to speak and them the glitch takes more troops and coins n gems it’s to much and they don’t ever give ur money back or the troops so these programmers and owners are rip offs don’t play or spend your money u will regret. So much dirty things this game does to you I don’t have enough room to write about it here. But I will say this I am disputing a lot of charges with my bank that this game fraudulently charged me with no permission.

Fix maps + add replay + archers need to shoot flying units!!!

Fix maps or have an option to have it flat again.. I absolutely hate the maps to defend my base.. It has no advantage having high ground.. I have less units due to stairs.. I also want to say add a replay so I can see what happen to my base so I can learn how to defend it better.. I absolutely hate the disadvantage.. But I will still give it 5 stars because it truly is fun and the developers update the game which is critical to making the game better.. Please let it be an option to have flat island again.. Also fix archers to shoot flying units first the AOE is on something else just letting dragons breath fire on them makes no sense.. I pray this happens as soon as possible in Jesus name..

Play the game, stay away from its discord

The game itself can be fun and highly addictive. It's also a long drawn out game, if you're on your death bed don't bother. To progress faster you either need to A. Spend a lot of money or B. Use the discord server provided by island war. Both have downsides, one will leave you in debt and the other will lead to depression. The main problem with the discord is yes it's full of helpful tips and advice to help gain slight advantages, but it's ran by MODS (moderators). These mods are shall we say, severely lacking in basic people skills and run the server to a dictatorship standard, desensitizing any fun out of the game. This along with many glitches and updates have killed the game off in my opinion. Without proper training of said mods on how to deal with real humans and a complete re haul of the games algorithm, I for one won't be spending another penny on this game.

Don’t waste your time

This is an addictive money grab. The more you play this game, the more you realize that it is very poorly designed. Your troops and heroes attack random things instead of prioritizing. Even your ranged troops will rush ahead and attack melee troops instead of staying back. You can drop a bunch of paratroopers in one block and instead of attacking the enemy troops (that they’d easily kill), they’ll run away, attack the wall, and they’ll all die. Your troops and heroes get stuck all of the time and run back and forth without attacking anything because of this incredibly poorly designed prioritization.I honestly think that either: the developers deliberately designed it this way to make the game more difficult, or that the developers of this game are simply incapable of coming up with better logic.Seriously, if you already play this game, stop playing, and if you don’t play this game, don’t start.

AWESOME

This game is one of the few games that exceed my standards! I have had no trouble with the game, no glitches, no horrible matchmaking, or anything. It is so good cause you can just relax while your soldiers attack, and offers just the right amount of challenge and strategy and occasionally leveling up. I love how you can raid others and when u run out of raids, u can do levels freely, or the challenges. It is a great thing that u don’t lose anything when you get attacked but the other side still gains resources. And u can join a clan and raid ur teammates for practice, or do a boss hunt. I currently have all 6 rafts a lvl 1 dragon and a lvl 2 giant plus more! Good job, developers!

Too taxing on my iPhone

This game is lots of fun but you may be leaving older phone models in the dust. The last few weeks, I have had to remove my iPhone 11 from its case and limit play time to about 20 minutes at a time because the phone feels like it is about to go up in flames! Would you consider adding graphics options in the settings or have the game automatically make adjustments so older phones can keep playing? Update: It appears the overheating problem had more to do with an iOS update than the game. A subsequent iOS update after this review solved the high temperature I was experiencing but I still think it would help to offer reduced graphics detail for older phones. I am frequently seeing significant frame rate reductions usually at the start of a level and during heavy fighting.

So much fun! But some glitches need to be addressed

I’ve had a blast playing this game. Learn characters, playing around with formations and battle tactics. The one negative I have is that there is some sort of glitch in it with upgrades. I’ve been trying to upgrade my city hall for two days now to level five. I pay the wood to do it, it takes an hr, and when it’s done it says not enough wood and makes me start over and takes the wood I spent. I’ve done this three times now and spent nearly 80k of wood hoping it was a small glitch. It’s a bit frustrating. Hopefully the dev team will work this kink out. Other than that. It’s been a lot of fun.

Really Awesome Game!

This game is really Awesome!, it is so fun, but I do have 2 suggestions to make the game better.———————————————————————1: a Replay button so I can see what happened if I ever get raided (this could teach players where to upgrade their defenses)———————————————————————2: Difficulty ModesEasy Mode: Game is the SameNormal Mode: You receive less rewards in raids and it cost more to upgrade/buy troops, but is mostly same as easyHard Mode: Normal Mode, but you have to send “Scouting Missions” to find nearby islands to raid, this would make players have to wait a minute or 2 for raids, also your soldiers have “Energy” so they have to take breaks between Raids. You could probably spend gems or coins to upgrade there energy faster, and use gems/coins to speed up scouting missions(Note: you would be able to change modes throughout the game)———————————————————————I perfectly understand if these can’t be added, but I would love to see them!, you guys are doing great making this game!I haven’t gotten that far (only at about 30,000 power) but this game is really fun!You guys have made a truly remarkable game!
