Cool concept but has problems

The player is designed nicely, just my taste. I got it specifically to play local audio files on my iPhone, it does that well. A big problem is that it is always forgetting where my files are. I will open it and see my albums just empty until I re-load the files. It also seems to scramble up my playlists, very annoying and not fixable. Also can’t seem to back any playlist files up, this has wasted a lot of effort. It would be lest painful if I could sort by metadata like disk and track number or even file names, but Flacbox can’t do that either. Also would be helpful if I could add songs to playlist by album or (smaller) playlist.A great concept, I liked it enough to pay for it… I hope you improve this app…

Almost perfect!

This is a necessity for anyone who gets their music from other places other than streaming services. A lot of great artists don't have everything up on streaming services -- deep cuts, rarities, etc. So having a solid Audio Player is a must. Flacbox is the best Ive come across, and its at a reasonable price point, unlike the other very excellent (but deeply overpriced subscription based Audio Player). One thing I would like to see, is a bit of polish in the UI. Its good, but its not great. I find that the navigation makes for a less than smooth UX. Being able to have Music, Artist, Album, Song on the bottom level would be nice, or maybe being able to customize the bottom level would be nice. Also, I think a bit more elegance in the interface is in order, something akin to the Sony Walkman (Or maybe even implementing skins)!Otherwise, fantastic app -- a permanent app of my iPhone! Keep it up!

Songs Disappearing from Library

Hey, this app works a treat, but in this latest update, I’m unable to keep songs downloaded in my music library. I download music from online and use this app as the media player and as a way to keep them all organized. I place all my files in the import folder then select them to be added to the music library. In this most recent update though, any new songs disappear when I hit play on them. The song will still play, but I have to re-import it again to put it back in the music library every time I play it. All my other music is unaffected. It’s just new songs I try to import. This app was pretty great before this most recent update, and now I can’t add any new music without quite the hassle. Would love to see this fixed soon!

Two issues

I have been using this app for my music projects recently, and I love it and think it is much superior to other similar programs, but there are two pretty big issues that are getting me. One: I have a lot of songs that "segue", or bleed into each other and are directly connected, and this app takes a few seconds to apparently "load" the next song. On Apple Music and other programs, seamless segues are allowed, but on Flacbox, there is a pause, which screws up the listening experience. Two: If I am inactive on the app for a day or so, my entire music library erases, and I have to reupload everything from my cloud drive. As soon as it is there, it reattaches the audio tags and assigns songs to their artists and albums, but it takes at least 15 minutes. Also, when I try to use the app on my phone, under the same account, I have to upload my entire music library, again, and wait for all the albums to be assigned. I haven't figured out a way to stop this so far. Both issues are really annoying, but otherwise the app works well. Please pay attention to this review, as I have reviewed the app multiple times stating the same issues, and I can't find a way to email/contact the creator. Thanks

Great app

I have used EverMusic app for a day or two and had problems. Flacbox is the better than any other music app out there. If have any problems with it then I'll write a review, supporting your improvements on this app by give you supportive advice. Thanks great app, totally cool and quick when download is ready to play. There is one thing that needs to be fixed. When i listen to an hour long play list it seems that the buffering slows down and if there is any way you can make loud faster like it did before especially for the one hour long play list. When playing, it stalls out and pauses the play list and would like to see improvement on that. Other than that, i think this is still the best music player app out there:)Thank you

EQ works on iPad, SMB2 Win10 sharing

I can connect to file shares on my Win10 PC. This is amazing, since I WFH I can use my iPad to play MP3's or FLAC and not need to download files and use up my precious (paltry) 32GB of storage. [Any other app that claims SMB but hasn't been updated since 2018 won't let you authenticate with Windows. MS disabled SMB1 and the devs needed to update to SMB2 or SMB3; this app has kept up to date.]This app also has an EQ, this basically lets me use any halfway decent earphones and make them sound much better. Buying this app with EQ was much cheaper than buying high end wireless earphones. I've used EQ's for years with speakers to neutralize the room acoustics and love them with headphones too. The EQ sliders were missing on iPad but a few emails with the dev and they've got it working in the Dec 2020 build. The SMB (cloud) playback also seems less buggy, or my Wi-Fi is behaving. The app was pretty unforgiving of bad network connections, but this one hasn't crashed for hours. (Their MP3 EQ app has 3x retry options in the settings but the FLAC one doesn't.)

Tried again and love it!

A little less than a year ago I started trying to stream my own (mostly high rez) music collection. I tried several of the obvious choices in the App Store, including Flacbox. It was all pretty frustrating and I gave up on it. Too much effort for buggy software, poor synchronization, missing songs, etc. Next I tried Roon and Roon Arc. That showed promise at first - but had much of the same problems only at a very high price point. I gave up on that too (I use an Aurender in my main (old fashioned 2 big speaker) system. A week or two ago I decided to try a few App Store solutions again to see if they might have become more viable. Flacbox was the clear winner and I’ve been working with it on both my iPhone and my iPad. I am thrilled with Flacbox v4.2! Look, nothing in this space is perfect yet. You need some patience and some time to re-download, re-sync, change song orders (with a great sort feature), etc. But now I have 125gb of uncompressed music on both my Apple devices and can use the online files (synced to my Google Drive) to replace downloads whenever I want (I haven’t streamed my online files much yet). Lastly, the Flacbox album display is beautiful. I highly recommend Flacbox and now just hope the app developer has a sustainable business model and keeps this app and future versions running like v4.2 does now.

Great option for a NAS.

I use this to stream over WebDAV to a Synology NAS and it is a better experience than the official Synology music app. Generally speaking, I find that it works very well. It also has Car Play support, which is a huge bonus; I don’t know of a better way to get good Car Play support while streaming music over your own systems.I do have a hard time getting things to sync properly, sometimes, though, and I sometimes run into issues that are stubborn and hard to fix. Updates are a mixed bag, but generally do improve the app. Unfortunately, the 3.9 update entirely wiped out my library and all metadata, which means I will probably be fidgeting with sync metadata a lot today. I can’t complain too much, but perfect this app is not.

Barely adequate

I was looking for an app for offline music and this seemed good. My impression was wrong. I have about 750gb of music to put on my phone. The WiFi transfer is so flaky as to be unusable. If you want to transfer one album at a time it’s fine but anything more and it craps out fairly quickly. Once you get your music loaded, the limitation of the music browser becomes clear. Browsing by album does not display the artist name but does, inexplicably, display the length. There’s tons of dead space in the interface where it could be put so who knows what they were thinking. Browsing by genre shows songs not albums - if you a few hundred songs fine but not if you have a few thousand albums. Overall seems like no one who actually meaningfully listens to music at any scale. Unfortunately I paid the full price before I figured all this out. Oh well.

I just hope it stays this way

Forever looking, searching, wishing for an app to let me use an adjustable equalizer while I listen to my music and now I FINALLY FOUND ONE. Also a lot of my music are just mp3 files from my computer so I also appreciate being able to import them to the app cause idk what Dropbox and all that is. But with all of that being said and what my title says, I hope the app stays exactly the way it is right now with no big changes (which I’m unfortunately assuming will happen because finally finding the very app I’ve been endlessly searching for might just be way too good to be true).
