Great App and Few Suggestions

Hi there,I downloaded the free version of Comic Draw today and couldn’t stop saying WOW while exploring the functions of it. I was so in love with this app and soon decided to purchase the fully unlocked Comic Draw. Great job!!There just few suggestions I have, after fully reading the user manual and practicing using this app all day long:1. Can you set a quick undo/redo (undo/redo multiple steps quickly without lifting the fingers) for pressing the two finger on canvas for a longer time? 2. I cannot figure out how to draw double boarder (the outlines are black and inner fill with white or other color) panel, In case to make the panel stand out from the background.3. The serration of the inking brush is a little bit too sharpen, could you make it looks smoother while keep the clarity? 4. The new Apple Pencil has a double-tapping fature that can switch from tools quickly, maybe you can add this new feature in the next update?5. When editing the customer color palette, it’s a little bit annoying when I move one little color square and other square are moving immediately following it, that mess up my organized color palette.Sorry for throwing so much to you at once;P Thanks again for making such a great great app, I wish it could become better and keep going!

A game changing app for comic artists, and book illustrators

I decided to try out this app because I was in search of something that I could plan book dummies more easily than drawing on a million different layers in photoshop. Specifically, I wanted something that 1 - let me add text easily so I could write and draw on the fly and 2 - let me have multiple pages. This app lets you work on a whole comic at once, rather than relegating you to one canvas. You can add pages, and flip through them at a whim. This feature wasn’t super clear in the description of the app, but I pleasantly surprised that it deliveredAlthough I am not a traditional comic artist, I was blown away at the script writing and lettering tools. The one thing that I would love to have is some kind of time line view, so I could see all of the pages at once. My ideal app would have a ‘pages’ section on the bottom or side, like in InDesign, but be able to draw and add type easily. Also, as a book creator, it would be better if the pages could be viewed 2-UP, because it’s good to know how spreads will work. I might also want to have illustrations that go across a spread and that’s not easily doable in the app currently. I would love to see these two things in an update.Even with those limitations it beats trying to work across multiple PS or procreate canvases.

Left handed

If there’s any left handed mode so that I quit accidentally selecting the tools so thoughtfully laid out where my hand rests, it’s buried so far in apparently meaningless symbols or text options that it might as well not be there. I can’t even figure it any sorcery that just allows me to move the tools manually. I think you hate left handed people. Otherwise app seemed kinda cool. I’m sure there’s ways to learn it, but I’d like to be able to make my lines cleaner. I’d like to be able to draw with curves, and I’d like it if I could delete things with a selection like when I accidentally filled a layer did a whole bunch of work and then realized my mistake. I’d like it if the fill option respected its own layer as well as the layers above it so that if I make a purple circle and fill it cause my outline purposefully doesn’t connect, that it would fill the purple circle.Maybe I can learn how to make these things work, but there’s some baffling decisions that should have toggles associated with the, on the tool bars. And I should be able to move that toolbar.

Really great and powerful app but one critique...

One of my favorite apps that I use all the time, but I wish there was an option to edit the speech bubbles more. It’s one of the easiest and many ways to reinforce the message or mood of what the character is saying/thinking. I want to be able to break the speech bubble into two parts (while they’re still merged), or be able to make the tail go inwards for off panel speeches. Also, when the character is yelling, I wish that there wasn’t just a spiky variety for the bubble but one where I can make the spikes more curvy. With being able to edit the bubbles, it can add so much: wavy speech bubbles for weak or fading speeches or black speech bubbles for negative emotions, etc.Since there are only limited speech bubble designs, I usually draw the speech bubbles myself, but even the option to just add text (without a speech bubble) is also very limited and stays in italics (compared to adding text inside a bubble). This is honestly the only critique I have from using this amazing app and I hope these features can be added.

Everything a cartoonist needs in one place

I’ve been learning my way around this app for the last week or so, and I’ve loved every minute of it. This thing is amazingly comprehensive, easy to use, and fun to play with. Every necessary tool a cartoonist needs is right here, in one box. The set of pencils, pens, and brushes is just right— all the basics are covered well, and no overwhelming list of weird variants with obscure, limited uses. You can even roll your own custom brush without much trouble if you need to. The screen tone and pattern brushes are equally concise, but wonderfully flexible. Setting up individual pages and multi-page documents is smooth and straightforward. Working with color palettes are a breeze. (One minor quibble- I wish I could manually enter RGB values instead of fiddling with color wheels, but that’s just my personal preference.) This app plays well with others, too! It’s easy to export files to work on them in other apps, then bring them back for finishing touches. I haven’t had as much time working with the script writing features, but so far, they’ve worked well and have only made my life easier. Honestly, I could gush about this thing all day. It’s just so refreshing to find a toolset like this that works, really, actually *works*, and is a joy to use.

Great addition to Comic Life 3

I have used Comic Life 3 for many years and had to use Procreate to do my art work. I had wished I could some way draw in the panels of Comic Life 3 so I didn’t have to use two apps to complete my comic books.I discovered Comic Draw when I was attempting to update Comic Life 3 in the App Store. I read some reviews of Comic Draw and downloaded the trial. After several test comics to familiarize my self with the app I discovered it was everything I was looking for to complete my comics from start to finish. Easy to use and easy to understand and I love the ability to draw after the speech bubbles and panels are established and my art work fits in much easier than how I did it before. Love the App and only use it now for comics. It works perfect with iPad and Pencil. Love the sketching mode going from blue to red to black as I build a sketch into an ink finish. I like the ability fill an ink layer with color on a separate layer using it’s automatic feature, very intuitive app..

Amazing. Well done. Suggestion.

Love love love this app. For years I used Comic Life (all versions) and was uber-excited when this came out. As the publisher of Into the Mythica I use Comic Draw to put together the layouts for the graphic novel portion of our network and LOVE it.Within this, I have a request. Often, I find myself importing images to place into boxes that i’ve already done a process on (Painteresque, Lens Light, stuff like that). It would be beautiful to be able to create a layer mask that lets me erase and restore nondestructively, much like a photoshop layer mask. I’m not sure how to make that happen with the current masking, which seems to focus on colour. I would love some feedback on this if i’m asking for a feature which already exists that i’ve somehow missed :)Thanks!

Can’t believe I can do all this on an iPad!

I recently ran a successful Kickstarter to fund my first comic book. Originally, I planned to draw everything by hand, scan the artwork, then color everything in Photoshop. But after taking Comic Draw for a serious test drive, I now realize I can do all that (and more) directly on my iPad Pro. This app has opened up a whole new world for me creatively. Thank you, Plasq!!!My only suggestions for the app are minor (and not worth subtracting a star, so I’m still giving it five stars). For instance I’d love to see the same “snap to grid” functionality for drawing comic boxes on the lettering layer that you have on the pencil and inking layers. I’d like to have a more sophisticated color picker that lets us choose specific RGB, CMYK and HEX values for colors, and so on.But even if the lack of certain features (such as a more robust color picker) keep you from using this app as an all-in-one solution, it’s still a powerful tool to integrate somewhere into your workflow. Currently, because I’m running Comic Draw on an iPad Pro, I’m able to create full-sized pages at 600dpi, with up to 11 layers, and export them as Photoshop files. And drawing on the iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil is a DREAM!!!

Come on really?

Ok I originally thought that you could just log in get started bla bla bla but no you cannot do any of that because you need to get another version I mean what’s really the point of making a free one but you still have to pay money to use it forever? Just make it so you don’t have to use this one for no reason. Yes you can use the free trial but that’s not even a month and trust me some people will not even finish making there comic before it ends because it takes a lot of thinking to make a nice one and people will wanna show there friends how nice there comic is but nothing’s colored in and there friends will problaby think it’s nice design but they might suggest that you color it in to make it more cooler at know to make it look nice and stand out. Now the thing that I should have said first make it so the other one you have all the things and this one just the basic coloring tools like a pencil, coloring pencils and like markers or like the shades of colors just make simple and stuff just suggesting though.Pls read this :l

Fantastic App, Still Evolving

I drafted a full length graphic novel using Comic Draw and it has amazing capabilities. I can easily import my own images, add custom fonts by using AnyFont, and the brushes and pencils are great. The support team is highly responsive and receptive to input. What is still evolving is the compatibility with Adobe programs that would make this more useful for professionals working with editors and printers. I would like to be able to import/export layered files easily to Photoshop and InDesign and be able to edit text there, have large files be less glitchy, manually organize and stack projects as in Procreate, and make the user interface just a bit smoother e.g., when creating panels (sometimes they snap to the wrong place), trying to delete things that were mistakenly pasted on the caption layer, etc. I’m confident these things will be worked out over time... It’s really freeing to be able to do so much with the Apple Pencil and it would have taken me much longer to finish drafting my project without Comic Draw. Love this program and it is worth every penny.
