Good… with some issues

So, I heard about this app from a friend, and I downloaded it. I had never themed or played with the widgets in iOS 14 or 15. It was pretty good at first but as I used it more and more, some flaws became apparent. First, is the lack of a tutorial. For new users, the custom widget maker is definitely intimidating, and I think (if possible,) the app should include some type of tutorial. Second, is the bugs. I have encountered lots of crashes when using the app, and one time, it even reset the layout of my entire Lock Screen. The rest is fine. The default “recommended“ widgets look completely out of date btw. Overall, I’m glad I downloaded this app, but it does come with a fair amount of bugs/issues. But, keep up the good work; I appreciate the time and effort you put into this app. With a couple tweaks and fixes, this app will definitely get better.

Best widget app... one simple feature request

This is the best widget app. By far. It is the most feature rich. It allows for the deepest customization and precise editing. The developer is amazing and active and he listens to his users. So with this praise, I request one feature: a tap action called “tap to refresh.” When tapped. It simply opens Widgy for a moment to refresh the widget and then brings the user immediately back to the homescreen. It would be a useful feature since iOS widgets can only refresh once every 5-15 minutes or so. Anyways, I’m still rating 5 stars because this app genuinely deserves it.

iOS 17 issues

First, for those who say this is too hard to use, I totally disagree. I found it very intuitive and simplistic to build widgets. Other apps mentioned in reviews are not totally customizable. I really like this app because it’s possible to create a widget for anything and everything. There is no other app that compares to this level of customization and building. When I first started building apps I had some trouble finding urls for the apps which I wanted to build widgets. Eventually I figured out the way to get them! iOS 17 didn’t blank or black out widgets , however the update is causing the “Widgy” iOS app to open and remain open every time a widget is used. The IOS APP is blacked out afterwards. I’m okay with that until the issue can be debugged. I would recommend that those with blank widgets, reload all widgets or delete them from the Home Screen, or Lock Screen and then add them back. I feel like this will fix the issue. So grateful to those who have submitted their widgets for Download. Some of them are amazing- there are obviously some very talented people out there. I would recommend purchasing the full version even though their is an IOS 17 bug. It is still far beyond any other app out there.

I found a bug.

Hello developers of Widgy! I just want to let you know that I found a bug with displaying widgets on my Home Screen recently. I’m using an iPhone 7+, and when I put it into standby mode and then unlock it again, the widgets disappear. By disappear, I mean that the widgets act as if the slots they are set to have no widgets in them, despite the fact that there are widgets in those slots. Why this happens, I’m not sure, as Widgy works just fine on all my other devices (including my iPad), but not on the 7+. This app is still awesome, though—don’t get me wrong—which is why I’m only removing one star here. But devs, if you could please fix this small issue, that would be amazing; thank you!UPDATE: Wow, that was really fast, guys! The devs just pushed out an update that has fixed the bug for me! So Widgy, I’m giving you back your fifth star. You’re welcome!

Simply incredible

This app is as said, simply incredible. I never leave reviews for apps but for this I felt necessary. The ui and tools provided are extremely intuitive to use, it truly is like photoshop for widgets. If you don’t want to make your own widgets, there is a very well developed community in the explore tab on the app as well as on the Reddit page where thousands of talented designers can submit their designs for you to use in your set up. Not to mention that the developer is extremely accessible with in the Reddit page, and he truly listens to his community and implements features that the community wants. After messing around with the free version when I first got Widgy, I decided it was fully worth the money to buy the full version just to support the developer alone. This app is incredible and if you are debating honestly just do it. The amount of joy I’ve gotten out of just a widget app alone, creating and submitting my widgets to the community is outstanding, easily one of my favorite apps I’ve ever gotten.

Astonishing!! (⊙⊙)(☉_☉)(⊙⊙)

Absolutely beautiful app, UI, customizability, practicality, and support is the best of its kind. I have yet to find a better more offer-able app than widgy and the fact it’s developed by 1 person is just astonishing. My only dislike is the 1 slot for the standard version, I understand that it’s a marketing thing to help development of the app and I’m grateful the app has made it as far as it had but about 1-2 slots for each widget size would really be appreciated, would really make that experience that much better for people who can’t afford it.

Support an Awesome App and Dev and Just Buy the IAP Options

It's rare to see an app come along that perfectly fills the void no one else has bothered with. Imagine amazing looking widgets that do all sorts of things you never thought possible, and even provide access to loads of already created widgets you can use as-is, or edit and customize. It's a beautiful thing. It's obvious that this developer actually uses widgets, noticed the shortcomings, and did something about it. You can get a lot of joy from this app for absolutely zero cost, but even the pricing model makes buying the IAP a no-brainer. The cost is minimal, only a one-time charge (no ongoing subscription), and it helps support someone who really deserves it. This app had to take tons of time to envision and create, so the few bucks is worth it. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. Very well done!

Exceptional App...

I am so impressed with the capabilities of this app...even the free version! I did buy the premium app because there is so much I want to do and that allows me to utilize more widgets. Very reasonable price too. That being said, the developer baffles me. I joined Reddit just for the Widgy community and to suggest an Apple Podcast API, I also complimented the app in the suggestion. Impressively, the developer responded the same day, but then proceeded to permanently ban me from the community! I’m so confused about that. I even read through a bunch of strings to make sure I wasn’t making a duplicate suggestion, to not waste his time. If you read any of this guys replies on Reddit, you’ll quickly see he’s got no patience for even his PAYING customers. All that being said, despite the developer’s coarseness, he’s developed a really impressive product. Just tread lightly if you need help.

Looks great, but confusing and glitchy user interface.

Sorry, Widgy folks. At first glance, this app looks great, exactly what I was looking for. But I couldn’t get it to work the way I expected. I chose and downloaded a widget showing battery status & weather, but there was no way to load it on the lock-screen or even on the home-screen. There are no clear instructions on how to use the app. You ask users to go to Reddit, but all you have there are FAQ of limited value. I paid to unlock the widgets thinking that might work, but it didn’t make any difference. So, in total frustration, I deleted the app. I expect you to refund my payment since I no longer own the app. Other users, I hope you’re more tech savvy than I am, or that you have better luck with it. As I said, it looks like it has the potential to be a great app, but it needs a lot of work to make it usable.

Description

With Widgy, your home and lock screens becomes YOUR screens. You can make any kind of widget imaginable that perfectly matches the rest of your aesthetics. All the information you need can be easily surfaced through a widget that you designed.

You don't have to clutter your screen with the information you don't want, it's just what you want, how you want it. • It's simple to make a widget • You don't need to be a professional designer, you just need to know what you want. Once you figure that out, it's a matter of letting your creativity flow. Just add an element, pick a data source, throw on some effects, and put it where you want. Then repeat to add another element. After a while, you'll have a perfect widget, and all you need to do is to assign it to a widget slot and drop it on your home screen. There it is, marvelous! The Widgy editor only has two parts. The preview and the layer list. When editing a layer, you get a couple of different sections that let you tweak the appearance and data of that layer. Each section has several special things you can do to the layer. The Preview will always show you a live display of exactly how the widget will look on your home screen, so you don't have to constantly go back and forth between the editor and home screen. • Everything you need • Widgy provides all the different elements that you would ever need to make your widget perfect. Along with that, there are all the data sources you could ever need, everything from system info to weather. And with all these data sources, there are several ways to display the data, whether it's a text, a nice chart, or something else. • There's no limits • This isn't an app full of templates, everything is 100% customizable and interchangeable. It's your widget, and you choose how to make it. The only limit is your imagination. • Sharing and discovering is easy • You can privately share widgets with your friends or publicly with all Widgy users, all with a couple of taps. You can share your widget as a URL, QR Code, JSON data, a file, or you can publish it to be shown in the Explore section for all the Widgy users to see. Other than the Explore section, Reddit (r/Widgy) and Discord communities have produced thousands of Widgy widgets so far. So if you just want to browse widgets or if you need some inspiration you can get that too! NOTE: Widgy optionally integrates with Apple Health. This integration is used to display your data if you select one of those widget types. Permission for Widgy to access this data is controlled through the Apple Health app. As with Health, all other permissions for Widgy are optional and are there just to show you the data you want to be displayed.
