Not as advertised

Not sure where the good reviews are coming from, but reading though these I see I’m not the only one scratching my head. Clunky, incomplete, all but worthless as a dictionary and completely worthless as a thesaurus. In fact, the only place I’ve been able to find anything related to what I would call a “Thesaurus” is on the icon for the App. It sure isn’t actually, you know, within the app itself.

Easy. Efficient.

Much simpler and more productive than a web search when I'm on the fly. Or on the couch, as it happens. Better and more relevant results, IMO.

Fairly good

Couldn't find the word skewer so I had to go to Google to get the definition. Then I looked in my Websters encyclopedic dictionary and found more words than this app includes. I recommend free dictionaries instead of paying for mediocre apps.

the American beautiful Face

Webster granted a very powerful tool to humanity. Like the innovation of the iPhone, the tradition of the dictionary gives universal wisdom to intelligent beings; the English language. The app is very basic and gives simple utilitarianism. Its ease grants ability and takes brilliant users.

Excellent Source

The Webster New World Dictionary and Roget's are wonderful sources for anyone who enjoys writing, students, and writers. They are easy to use and contain up date information. They are invaluable when writing almost any document.

Solid app but could be better

This app basically does what it should. I’m disappointed with the word of the day. I can only recall one word that I was unfamiliar with in many months. The words they use are often 4th or 5th-grade level, so that feature is worthless to me.

Only 24 hours but as a writer on call, on the road and always just a jog from a word, I am liking this resource, much.

It is not a good thesaurus

It is not a comprehensive, or well-thought out reference book.I love the Webster's New World Dictionary and I use it frequently. Thinking this could not be bad, I bought it, but I was mistaken. There are many thesauruses in the market but, for the iPad there are none.You would be better of with a comprehensive dictionary with built in thesaurus such as Oxford American Dictionary or AHD 5 deluxe version. AHD Fifth Edition has been extremely buggy though.

Good resource - wish I did not have to clear search window each time.

Every time I touch the magnifying glass to search I have to first delete the last item I searched for. This is very annoying when searching a variety of terms in a short period of time. If you could clear the search window or make it a configurable behavior for each search that would be great.
