Cheapest & Best per-mile transport

I love using Voi as it's the most convenient mode of transportation. However I wish the App had an indicator on the scooter like a beeping sound alerting before entering a "Slow" zone. Also I wish the App would let you "lock" (not "park") the bike anywhere. Sometimes when you go certain places where you can't park the bike, you need to atleast be able to "lock" it so that other can't steal the bike while it's active.

Charged for broken scooters.

I’ve rented three. The first two were broken and charged me anyways, one which billed half an hour and broke down in a no parking zone leaving me to haul the broken scooter out of said zone which was a hassle, and it charged me for the privledge of pushing it around. The breakdowns were not charge related as both reported over 80% charge on pickup. The app has no way to request a refund and their site doesn’t either. My third rental was out of desperation as I needed to get to my hotel quickly as I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt and carrying electronics in the rain. Thankfully this one worked great. My tip is, if you push it over and it doesn’t start beeping and flashing red lights on the rear wheel, stay away from it. Overall I am very dissatisfied with the service.

Company is ignorant

They have almost no where to operate these and cost a ton of money, just as much as a taxi. They say stay off the pavement but there is no grass path to take only paved areas. The dumbo’s suspended my account for ‘riding on the pavement’ in the middle of the city for 7 days. I honestly thought i was doing exactly what they said to do. I told them they were unclear about this, they didn’t even read the email they just sent the same message back. Rent a bike, walk, bus, taxi take a subway but dont, do this. It took 15 min to just set up the account, because they don’t take credit cards.

Faulty app

Voi scooters are one of the more popular ones around — unfortunately their app didn’t work for me. Tried to unlock multiple scooters, the app said they were unlocked and started charging me, but the physical scooters were locked and wouldn’t move. Got charged multiple times for this. Thankfully a kind customer service employee refunded me (shout out to the great people who work in customer service!), but I’m deleting the app since there’s no point in having something that doesn’t work.

So easy to get around!

I know you may not look so cool scootering around town, but it’s fast, cheap and (sometimes) convenient! The only problem I have is when people leave them in their courtyards and they are not acceptable. But that’s not the fault of the providers... just selfish people. 👋🏼💨

They charged me 25€ for a 5 min ride but gave it back

I’ve tried it out maybe 2 times so far. The second time I connected my phone to the scooter and I couldn’t end the ride, my phone didn’t even say I had started a ride to begin with, but I could still ride the scooter. I rode it for 5 and then got off and parked it. Found out later that they had taken 25€ off my account. I emailed support and they first tried to offer me credits instead of giving me my money back. Kept emailing 1 or 2 more times before I finally got the money back. Honestly, I don’t know of a lot of companies that would do that. Of course it’s the moral thing to do, but I guess most companies would give you the credits and then tell you to shut up about it. I really feel like I was kindly met and understood by customer support. But they do still have some technical things to sort out for sure.

So fun!

The boy is so fun worth your time and money. Make sure you do it if you are in Lisbon. It is inexpensive and fun for your family or just to get around to visit the city. If I ever come back to Lisbon this will be my means of transportation more than likely for short distances.

Not so cheap transportation!

I read several reviews before downloading app for use in Helsinki. Cheap transportation was mentioned a few times. I was unable to find pricing details beyond the 1 Euro to unlock, so went on faith and reviews it would be expensive. I used a scooter once for 31 minutes and was charged ~11 Euro. A City Bike can be rented for 5 Euro per day. Making matters worse, I walked to 3 locations on the map showing scooters there and found nothing. Once I found a scooter, it has 47% battery from what I could see. The battery ran dry in 31 minutes and left me stranded about 1km from city center. I would think twice about using this app.

App Changes

I first started using Voi in Seville, Spain in September. It was great and I had no complaints. Then a couple weeks ago (mid October) they changed the app so that all bike lanes are slow zones. It's actually dangerous how slow the scooters go now because all the other bikers/scooters have to pass you. Also, you now need to take a photo of your scooter when you park it and they are very picky about the requirements. I have now cancelled my subscription.

Best idea ever!

What an amazing idea, as a visitor to Stockholm for work I am seeing more and getting to places quicker than I would using a car, its cheap, easy and a lot of fun. Also everyone you see riding these little scooters has a smile on there face. Well done Voi. Voi make me smile 😁!
