Not what I expected (in the best way)

I’ve never really been one for modern RPG’s with the anime characters and strangely shaped characters with gargantuan breasts and log shaped necks (if ya know ya know). I didn’t expect this game to be like that but at first I honestly didn’t have high hopes for it. I don’t play RPG’s much anyway but I love how this one legitimately IS like an “old RPG game”. I’ve played it for maybe a day and I’ve really been enjoying it. The quests are super fun and intriguing, the battles are just challenging enough that I’m engaged, the dialogue is fun and witty, and there are no ads forced on you! There are options where you can watch ads and gain rewards (though for some of them I seem to not actually get anything which is fine) but it’s surprising to me that a game of this quality wouldn’t have more ads. I’m thankful for it but I also feel like I’m cheating the devs. It’s really fun to play! That character customization isn’t exactly what I was looking for either, if that’s a main aspect of the game you’re looking for, but I honestly haven’t noticed much while playing. I’ve just been caught up in the story. I’m terrible at writing reviews but this game is pretty good and I think if you’re at this point reading reviews and stuff that you should just download it and try it out!

Somethings I’d like to see

So before I get started don’t get me wrong I absolutely love the game and despite not liking turn based combat this is one of the few games I’ll make an exception for because if I don’t I wouldn’t enjoy it enough to get to level 53 in a week. And with that out of the way I’ve got a few things that I’d like to see in the game (I should mention as well, this is all my personal preferences so don’t take it the wrong way)1: multiplayer mode, by which I mean that you can set up a private or public room/server and have other people join you, help you with quests, and trade items or gold.2: make it harder for us to level up earlier on like from levels 1 to say 10 but keep the leveling system the same beyond that (if possible)3: make some mobs easier to find, because I’ve been trying to finish “the cursed church” quest since I was like level 33 if I remember right, and have only found 4 guys and none more. And ya that’s it, again this is all personal preference so you don’t have to add it if you don’t want to/can’t for unknown reasons, but if I had to chose one that I’d love to see more than the other 2, is the first one because I’m planing on trying to get some friends into it and would like to play this with them other than the random chance at PvP.

One of the best mobile games ever

Seriously! It has been so much fun to play. It brings nostalgia for Diablo in the world travel and quests. For Dragon Quest in the battle system. It’s not set up quite the same but close enough, especially because it’s one on one like the first game was. Great story and promises more to come. It doesn’t stop at the end of the story currently available either. There’s hunting down the Brutals, PVP and an excellent rebirth system that takes you into the higher difficulties that aren’t over the top they’re really manageable and fun. Some games you get those difficulties that are way too hard and are just frustrating. The best part is that it’s free to download. I know what you’re thinking though that free to play games have way too many temptations to buy because you’ll never get anything if you don’t. This doesn’t. It does have an in game currency that can be bought, but almost nothing you can buy with them will help you out at all, except the helmets and wings. Everything else you can get is just cosmetic or literally what you can buy in the shops given enough gold which isn’t hard to come by once you start hunting Brutals. All in all, it does deserve a five and it will keep you entertained. Give it a try and you’ll really see how much the devs put into it. Thank you for giving us this awesome game guys. Keep up the great work!

Love It! Completely Addicted, Can’t Stop Playing

This is really a great game. I’ve become SOOO bored with all the hyped games out there. Disappointing and frustrated. Of course, not all of them. But, as I’m searching for a new one that I can play, I stumble across this somehow-I do not regret it. I HAVE to get things done; but I can’t put it down. Good job guys! Please don’t go off the deep end & screw it up as many have done. It goes like this: You have a favorite game/other type app, it’s been great for nice amount of time, then one day you see that you have an update, of course you tread cautiously because of such bad experiences in the past with the “improvements” in the updates. Then you decide to trust it. So, you install it, go about your business. Later, you open your favorite app. Guess what; your fears have come true. That favorite app that you love & which had been perfectly fine up to that I’ll-fated installation is now shutting down during play time or while inputting info, etc. The app is now a piece of useless crap! Have you been there? Please use that experience you may have had yourselves in some way as you work on the next update.

Has a great foundation with a lot of room to grow

The game is very well built, the story is great and the world so far has been quite a blast. It’s challenging but not unfair, and it’s systems are well built. It has a captivating story, the turn based combat feels like a true turn based should, the game doesn’t hold your hand and baby you the whole time which is a nice change of pace, and the choices do come to have impacts big and small unlike many rpgs now a-days. The systems while complex aren’t so complex you can’t navigate them at all, and they are fairly balanced most of the time.Although that doesn’t mean it is without its flaws, the world feels very empty with how spread things are, the basic mechanics have some glaring loopholes like running a build for great swords with high slash and high crit making it possible to kill most things with ease, and the lacking amount of side quests means you don’t feel like there is a ton to do at times. I see a great foundation to build up from and world full of potential for this game, it is quite the diamond in the rough but that diamond needs refined and touched up some.

Great! — but suggestions?

Surprisingly addictive and well-made. Granted, there are a few I dislike — sometimes the humor is a little juvenile (angel statues making a fart joke I’m looking at you), and I’d like a more detailed map or at least more marked quests/information in each quest’s blurb because I don’t like spending half an hour running around the map for a single quest item that doesn’t have a location. I’d also like being able to choose my PvP battles, because I’m a fairly new player with 250 health being paired with players with 2000 health. Transit is also pretty slow, and I hope a future update includes stables so that I can get a horse to speed things up. All that being said, the game is a pure gem. I love combat and I love how the upgrade system works. The stories are interesting and every NPC has a line of unique dialogue. The world chat is clean and actually helpful, something I rarely see in any game nowadays. I love the little references thrown in (Weeping Angels, arrows to the knees, anyone?) and I thought the developers adding themselves in was great. The base experience is super solid, but I feel that a few more tweaks could make it easily the best RPG I’ve ever played. With the promise of future updating, I’m very hopeful for the continuation of excellence from this game and look forward to future products from the developers.

Well made, has a reoccurring glitch in Marid’s Lair of Duels

A lot of the games you end up finding on mobile are pretty crappy and are almost unplayable due to just how many adds you are forced to watch through to get any meaningful gameplay, but as of now (and probably always) there are absolutely no adds that you have to watch to play the game (excluding occasional rewards you get for watching an add) and the story is very well crafted. The controls are easy to use and aren’t difficult to learn. One thing I have noticed though is that when you go to Marid for the first time and interact with the circle of blood in the lair of duels, you become stuck and unable to move which makes you have to close out the game and continue off where you auto saved (which for me both times was right outside of the blood circle) Im only on my second play through of the game and could be missing something though, I also have very poor internet at times but if it has something to do with getting online it would show a loading screen like all the other times. Both times I interacted with this circle this happened, though.

Love the Game!

I’ve been playing video games since Space Invaders. I love this particular format especially. It’s a beautifully balanced game that allows you to stay busy with multiple pile aspects of the game. You have many gameplay options depending on your mood. You are able to follow a storyline and dive into a deep quest line, grind away at exp and explore a fairly sizable geography or spend all your time on pvp content. Of course, what game would be complete with the ability to form or join a clan. I just wish I could lend more insight from the gamer’s perspective. There are two glaring things that jump off the page for me that I would correct. 1. Diablo always made sure there was a stash box to keep different gear sets in. I found it challenging to have to sell gear I didn’t want to sell for the sake of space. The game could actually use this as an opportunity to either require the gamer to pay for more stash space or even make it an upgrade option for involvement in a clan. 2. If you have to spend precious gold to reset your abilities, at least allow the gamer the option to plug points and move them around before finalizing the skill points. If I put too much into health and need some points back for say focus regen, I shouldn’t have to spend gold again to reset over a few skill points. Thanks!

Deserves 5 but gotta give it 4

Game is amazing, old school style gameplay but with up to date mechanics, game looks lush runs smooth, and the story line isn’t bland it’s actually somewhat interesting, dialogue is entertaining, whoever made this game definitely put in some time and effort and it shows. No sort of energy systems or adds constantly popping up, game is completely free ( so I thought ) aside from you having the options to donate for different chat colors/tiers.. basically aesthetics nothing game changing. However after killing Vaso ( about 2-4 hours in ) you have to continue the main part of the story by traveling to Kamengrad.. you can’t go to Kamengrad, however, until you pay a $6.99 fee to “unlock” the rest of the game. Basically you get a good 2-4 hours of actual gameplay ( story driven, content, etc ) until eventually you get stuck at a point that you have to pay in order to unlock the rest of the map & game. You can continue to play the game without paying, however you’ll but stuck to a decently small portion of the map and you’ll be stuck fighting the same enemies over and over. $6.99 is a small fee for such a great game, yes. I would’ve just rather been told ahead of time that “in app purchases” were in fact included. Great game if you can afford the $6.99 to fully play I guess. My journey has come to a swift vault however. Maybe in the future donations might suffice enough to open the entire game up to a community for free.

Impressive mobile RPG

I’ve played a few RPG on iPad; this is by far the best, exceeding some of the classics like Baldur’s Gate(s) (the latter in part due to the nostalgia of the original vs the port). Vampire is entertaining, aesthetically pleasing, challenging enough but with useful respawns that it doesn’t feel impossible like some games. The movement mechanics, as well as the turn-based combat, are a little clunky and seem less streamlined than some games, but overall it totally works. Highly recommend.Update: I downloaded the most recent update (third week Oct 2020) and the app no longer works. Instead, it redirects me to the App Store, noting that there is a new update; this in turn redirects me to the app. So, I can no longer play the game.2nd update: I had to uninstall the app, and after reinstall it’s functioning again. Thankfully, I had backed up to Apple Cloud and my saved game was found. Devs were quick to pick up on my review and get in touch to determine if I had had a resolution - that’s fantastic! While the previous annoyance factor takes a little shine off but the game remains what it is: an enjoyable RPG, decent NPCs, fine combat, some loot to salvage. Highly recommend.
