Pay to win?

This game so far seems one sided. Runs very well and the mechanics are on point but the level of difficulty is way out of balance. That’s fine and all that you lose your stuff when you die but as a beginner with limited weapons, I can only fight one mob before I have to heal so I can fight again. Let’s not forget how almost impossible it is to maintain a source of food to heal because of this. I’ve had to run around and collect berries just to heal so I can continue to play and wait until the next day so I could get the holiday cake to heal to full health. Why make bandages available only at level 15? This seems odd as a basic bandage should be available right at level one so we can keep playing for more than 15 minutes at a time. All this goes to my title “pay to win.” You got to buy weapons and gear to be able to play... but don’t die or you’ve potentially lost your spendings. Please lower the difficulty just a little bit but not too much so that it’s too easy. Just give us a way to be able to heal on a more consistent basis so we can keep exploring. I’m level 15 now and still using the basic club, it’s still better than what I can craft based on my dps and the dps of the mob, this needs fixed for sure. It’s also quite quite annoying that it takes a stack of 20 wood to make 5-7 steaks (forgot the exact number) and it also takes forever to cook!!5 stars for giving us what I’ve mentioned.

Too hard without paying

Some F2P games are playable without spending cash. This one isn’t. The worst feature is that when you die, you lose everything. So you have to be care when you put your stuff away, but we’re talking about weapons and food and stuff that can be hard to come by in order to make things like smelters. So yeah you can grind, but if you die you lose everything you just gathered. Inventory is very small and pop ups encourage you to spend for better equipment. I had managed to get clothes and weapons and then died and lost everything. Ran around naked trying to build it back up only to get killed 3 times in a row, just trying to get wood to make a club. Lost any materials on me. I don’t mind hard, but there’s a point where a game becomes too frustrating to continue. I do spend money on games I enjoy to enhance the experience, and I try out a lot of games for free before I spend. The concept of the game is interesting but I can see how it becomes a cash pit. Not to mention that you could die (you get swarmed and your weapon breaks and you don’t stop getting attacked like in other games when you check your inventory) and lose stuff that you spent real money on. I’m mad enough about losing my free stuff. Hard pass. If you didn’t lose all your stuff hard levels would be okay.If the game paused while you try to heal, the game would be okay. Without that, it’s not playable for F2P or low spenders.

Both fun and frustrating

The game mechanics are fun, but still on day one, I was getting cut down by other players while I didn’t know any better. You lose all you’re carrying, which is almost everything before you have your castle and storage chests. Then hours and hours were spent running from everything because just a few fights would put me at half life and too weak to kill a damned enemy. I finally have a good castle, a dire wolf companion, and good crafting tables, but I’m still vulnerable to losing an entire grind run when another player catches me in my inventory or two damned enemies double team me.Suggested fixes: 1) while holding down the attack button, I should be able to focus attacks on the same enemy instead of switching back and forth. 2) teach early players that running into the mist IS the strategy to avoid fights and get a chance to heal and craft in safety. 3) the bedroll crafted item isn’t labeled for what it does. I made it just to have it, then I found out what it does. It would be nice if items were more clearly labeled. 4) I assume I’ll have more carrying storage later, but I’m now trying to collect the extra items only useful for merchants. Give us a fourth row of storage earlier in the game, please. After all, Once we travel away, the map changes and the leftovers are lost.

Needs work

I really like this game but there’s some things that are hard to over look, for example the weapon durability’s are just way too week especially with how long it takes to get anything better by crafting, finally got to the morning star and at first the damage was better for sure but considering that tin is something I have to find as a rare drop basically at my lvl the required materials are really hard to find the durability was basically the same as everything else it basically lasted up to a quarter durability after completing a basic 1 skull difficulty map and that was a problem. I have even gotten a gold teir weapon with real money and that did seem to last longer but as everything else it was quick. Plus the amount of energy you get and what it takes to do anything especially far like events is limiting me to at times 1 trip every other hour, there is the pathfinder perk but it don’t help much. Confused as to why “running” is so few seconds but walking is a good wait. Also they have a horse and other transportation for sertain places but I have yet to even complete my stable and I’m something like lvl 33....Will still be playing try looking into improvements this game could go places

Great game with a few problems

Wow okay first of all this game is amazing. I love the difficulty and it makes the moments when you take down a boss so much more satisfying. A few notes I have. While I do really enjoy the difficulty I feel like the game has some pacing issues in terms of the campaign story stuff. The bird cage quests are way too hard based on a persons level. This leads to some weird pacing issues where I am able to knock out a few of the quests over a day but then am grinding my levels for months until I am powerful enough to take on certain enemies. I am also concerned about the amount of pay to play I see within the game. I have been playing for about 2 years off and on and I am still fairly early into the game. This is without paying a single dime. I think it’s frustrating for a lot of players who don’t want to pay to see all of these different ads promoting weapons when they just died and lost all of their stuff they worked so hard to get. I realize the app needs to make money I just think changing the way monetization is done may help the app. Besides my problems I still really love this game!!! For some reason I haven’t been able to join a clan and I wish the players I see in the forest were actually real players and not just bots

Play only if you want to purchase furniture/not free

For starters honesty I fell for the ad tbh I feel betrayed because you have to buy the bed, fireplace? Like fr. I don’t like spending money on mobiles games for a reason but this is just disaster. I thought I would find a game that actually has a bed and furniture but nope it’s not free. I wish they added for us like to watch 20 ads to in order to get the bed those don’t like to buy stuff instead of earn. I would rate this game a one star but the quality of the game itself it’s amazing but I’m just sad to say I don’t recommend people that don’t like to spend money don’t play this game. I let my sister know and I honesty I thought I’ll find another game to share to other people and tell people to play this but this game is like (you have to purchase to get furniture for your castle) lol my sister said she changed her mind since you can’t really do anything in the game, there’s not much furniture. I’m disappointed, tbh I think I rather stay on my old game, at least there’s furniture there. The only thing I love about this game is the rain. Sad to say this I will delete the game since I don’t wanna waste my money on the darn game for what when there’s beyond other games out there. Sometime I guess greed takes over your life right. Money dont make ppl happy I like to earn and build stuff but I cannot do that in that game

I like it but grind grind grind

Great graphics and storyline and a great feel to it. It’s clear the developers have done a great job but there’s something about the gameplay that is off. I want to like it, I keep playing it, but in the end it’s a grindfest. Your constantly just crafting minimal tools and armor to gather materials in hopes of upgrading but upgrading is so costly it’s almost not worth doing as everything wears out so quickly. To upgrade your backpack requires a high level and is relatively costly in materials and making a bow (a relatively basic weapon) is almost impossible too as you can’t craft a bowstring, you have to be lucky enough to find it. You also can’t craft a harness, saddle or trough for your horse - you need to find those too. These and other “special” items are hard to come by even if you are able to survive random events.I was a fan of Last Day on Earth as well and reached a saturation point as well, it seems that Grim Soul grows more tedious and feels like a chore after awhile.I understand the developers need to make this more of a challenge and you don’t want to make it too easy but something has to be done to balance out the gameplay somehow. If I’m level 65 but running around naked with 2 staffs and a pile of beef jerky because I need a week to gather materials ten something is wrong. Maybe it’s me?

Money Drainer and unfair gaming system

I played this game thinking it was cool at first until I lost all my purchased items from being attacked by other online players who’ve been playing this game longer and had better purchased gear. How can you allow purchased items to be completely lost? Why isn’t there an option to turn off pvp? Is this a game to promote online trolling and as a company to take as much money as you can from your customers? I don’t desire to play pvp games and esp ones that are designed to benefit the developers taking advantage of others through this kind of gaming sytem. Its not a game designed in the best interest of gamers. It gives the impression that it’s all about greed and how much you can make off of people. I don’t feel this game has any true integrity, nor gives players the opportunity to advance in the game without having to deal with unfair pvp situations that steal from you. Coming into this game new, I feel ripped off both from my money and then secondly by the fact that anyone can just swoop in and steal from me. I ha pd ZERO chance to be on equal grounds. Survival doesn’t describe this game. You’ve created a game that robs and cheat people of their money. A game with fairness should be considered. Who wants to be ripped off financially by getting some gear then it gets stollen from other online gamers? I want a complete refund of all my purchases! This game is misleading and doesn’t represent an enjoyable game play. I want a refund!!!

Needs an update seriously!

If we could get live meters showing your status without having to open the backpack that would be nice and a status for when you’re gonna throw up there’s been too many times I’ve died because my character needed to throw up. While you’re on the battlefield if you run out of bandages you eat whatever you come by I know you’ll throw up but if I could see how close I am to doing it I won’t eat that last bit of food in the middle of a fight I’ll run. Second stop with the fake player bots they come attack me leave grab no loot and the work with the all the creatures attacking you if it was a real player we could probably team up seems impossible when all you see are killer boys that the AI makes run straight after you relentlessly. It’s annoying having to fight one but you have to fight them on top of whatever creatures are chasing you it’s not even a challenge it’s just depressing. Dying your loot disappears your hard work out the window you don’t even get looted you just sit there and rot and realize that you just wasted your time because the game is built to make you lose. Also why do we have to get to such a high level before we can get the better backpack having such low storage seemed like you just had to play it safe but when you realize how long you’re gonna have to keep going out and coming back (if you make it back) the task seems more tiring than fun especially with the energy reload time

Not a bad game

I don’t write reviews very often because mobile games don’t keep my interest for long enough to warrant writing a review. This game was well developed in my opinion and I haven’t experienced any bugs or issues. The idea is very clever and unique. I mean, who doesn’t love a good survival game? Here’s where I have an issue. The quests the game gives you rely on you sneak killing enemies which is difficult to do if you don’t have decent weapons. The other thing I have an issue with is (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong) the fact that players can come raid your base and steal things from your chests. I haven’t had it happen yet, but the thought that I could lose my hard earned loot scares me to be honest. The only thing I’d really suggest is making the chance of finding decent loot a bit better. I have no equipment to speak of other than a club, and haven’t found a single piece of equipment from those old sacks that are still pretty difficult to get your hands on.Other than that, the game is fun to play. I know it’s hard for developers to try to keep a mobile game balanced so it’s not too difficult for new players or too easy for veteran players. It’s a very fine line, and I understand that. Just keep doing your best, devs.
