pretty good

The app is pretty good but I wish there was a way to change the pitches of the drums, maybe a menu of the key you want to play in and then you can select the notes for each drum based off the key and the drum's actual range. It's a great idea but it needs more options so people can practice along with recordings without dissonance. I hope you add updates that include this in the future!

Pretty good actually!

For what it is I have to say not bad - not bad at all! The only thing missing is the ability to change the pitch on the fly but perhaps this is available on the full version. But if these sounds were put through proper amplification they would sound pretty awesome!

Cool!

I would like to be able to tune them so I can play Chess The Art Of Strategy, I'm in the pit playing timpani using that song. I want correct tones to practice with. Overall, it's a great app!

Nice idea; needs work

Full discloser: Timpani was my principal instrument in Music School and I played them professionally in Orchestras for 8 years. The visuals are good. The tone the timpani produces is uncharacteristic. It is how they sound when they are at their lowest possible pitch. A more characteristic sound comes in the mid-range. The sound produced is of a head that is too loose. The sound of the roll needs some work (might want to consult a Timpanist on how it is supposed to sound). It would be really cool (and worth redownloading) if you could change the pitch on the Timpani.To ask too much: it would also be cool if it had timpani sounds for 3 distinct mallets (no it doesn't all sound the same). That way I could hear a hard/staccato (#2), medium (#3), and soft cartwheel sounds. Also the kind of sound timpani produce is different in the middle of the drum, near the rim, and 3 to 4 inches in from the rim.

Tympani at your fingertips.

Much like the tabla app, the tympani app delivers realistic tympani sounds. The portability is great, and the sound (especially the roll function) is high quality. Excellent!

Additions...

This app is okay, but would be extremely helpful if the timpani is set up like an actual timpani set—four different drums in front of you in a semi circle. It would be even better if you added the pedals like on an actual one, so you're able to change the pitches. I'm a percussionist in need of something like this, since timpani sets are a little too big for us percussionists to practice at home. For now, I'm giving this three stars. I am not a musician, but this app is fun! My young son especially loves it. Any way we can bring more music into the hands of young and old is wonderful. Keep improving this app!

Only The Only Timpani For Apple!

The sound is realistic, and it's easy to play, but the range is miniscule. You should have a slide bar above the timpani to control pitch. Please add tuning feature!

Good app, but a ton of problems

I wish the drums could be tuned! There's a glitch going on where the drums are so staticky and it plays an eerie replay of what was played. It really is creepy.
