Nostalgic

I am not sure if anyone remembers Purple Moon games such as Rockett’s New School but I was a huge fan of them as a kid (definitely dating myself here). They were thoughtfully written and involved social decision-making with realistic consequences to your actions. Switchcraft giving me the nostalgia for those games as it is also thoughtfully written and covers important social topics (i.e. mental health) without the cheesy after school special vibe.You can play the game however you like. You can alienate people or keep them close, focus on completing puzzles exclusively, then binge the story later when you feel like it, or alternate back and forth (puzzle completion unlocks story). The puzzle itself has some fun power ups and challenges and I like how they found a way to tie in its relevance to the story.I didn’t think this game was for me initially based on the dating-sim-like thumbnails, but then I saw a glowing review for it and decided to see for myself. I am glad I gave it a try even if I’m not the target audience. Great work!

Unstable

I love this game truly. I’m invested in the characters and the story and the gameplay has found a good middle ground between easy and insanely difficult. You definitely don’t have to spend money if you don’t want too but I don’t mind buying packs to support the devs of this incredible game. The problem however is that the game seems very unstable. It crashes a lot and, in my personal experience, at the worst time. I’ll have all three powerups during focus meditation and go for a super hard level and bam it crashes and I lose my powerups and end up stuck on a level for days. Or I’ll pay the 900 coins for the extra moves and it’ll crash making me lose the 900 and also have to restart the level. This keeps happening and it gets disheartening because in the long run I’m losing actual money I’ve paid for in game stuff because it keeps crashing. If this is fixed or at least somewhat stabilized I wouldn’t hesitate to go back and give this game the five star review it rightly deserves. If things don’t change however, I can’t see myself playing it for a whole lot longer :(Side note, I would LOVE to be able to decorate Bailey’s dorm room. Maybe even with some of the collectibles?

Thanks for making such a quality game!

The only match 3 game worth playing! The only problem with this game is it’s hard to put it down, haha. Beautiful art, well designed gameplay (I'm in love with the frog gems!), and engaging story. It feels like your story choices really matter, without forcing you in any direction too hard. The characters even offer an impressive rage of representation, especially for a mobile game. Feels like the whole game has beeb made with a lot of care! It is so refreshing to not have ads shoved down your throat, or be pressured into paying to continue after every level. You can actually play the game! I go out of my way to watch the voluntary ads more to support the game than to get the power ups. When I'm in a better place financially I plan to drop some money on this game as a thank you. Life is rough right now and this low stress distraction has really helped my mental health. So glad I found this game!*Edit to add, still the most incredible game. Just finished the DH arc and am loving both the story and how well the game scales. It’s much more challenging now, but not impossible at all. Just in a fun way :)

Impressive game!

I have to say, what a wonderful and well developed game this is. The story is intriguing and fantastic and you guys did an excellent job creating this game. I love it, and im a straight guy lol. Hard to put my phone down with this game. But i only have one issue, ive been stuck on a level for almost 2 days now and if I don’t beat it by tomorrow unfortunately i will delete it and will come back and change my feedback to a 2 star rating because there is nothing worse than being stuck on a level for days kinda forcing people to spend real money to pass the level. I’ve already spent money on this game and wont spend anymore. Spending money on this games constantly its a waste of money because you will get stuck over and over and it will require you to spend money over and over and im not a rich person with money to throw away on this stuff. I spend money here and there with the intention to help developers out, kinda like a donation. This game however deserves it to spend a few bucks here and there but i wont spend anymore. Please, fix the difficulty because i will love to know how this story ends. What developers need to understand is that making games so difficult that you get stuck for days will make the game boring and you will lose customers or “players” so please don’t make the game so difficult.

Disappointing

I’ve been playing for a while now (on level 1963, book II, ch. 5) and it’s getting annoying and boring. Recently, the levels have been feeling more pay-to-win than just challenging puzzles. Certainly not the same relaxing game it was before. As for the story, I want to love it but it drags on, feels like choices don’t matter and the romance side of things is basically pointless. I haven’t even seen my chosen romantic interest in many chapters. The cost per story element is so high for such little story progression. The art is great and the theming of the app is fun but if you’re trying to get something out of the story, there’s not much. (Spoilers ahead) the Lydia plot line continues on for too long, like I want to do something else. I was excited to move on to a different plot after we find her but here we are again skipping school and ignoring the fact that we go to a magic uni?? We don’t get to see magic classes or flesh that world out more, or anything outside of this Lydia obsession. She’s not even interesting and we got so little time between her and Bailey in the beginning that it doesn’t feel like they’re even really friends other than what we’re told. The world doesn’t feel alive, it’s just characters moving from one location to another having flat conversations and making confusing decisions. They could remove the magic elements from the story and it wouldn’t actually change much which is sad. I don’t know if I’ll finish the story at this point.

Great Game, Crashes Often

Great game, crashes a lot, customer support was zero help. I have absolutely loved this game and it’s entirety since I started playing it. The storyline is great, the choices are good, and the matching game isn’t too difficult. However, over the last week it has started crashing all the time. Either right when I go to open a level after I’ve used a power up, right after I’ve given coins to extend a level and then I lose all the coins when I get back in, so I’ll spend 900 coins on a level and then they’re just gone, or right when I’m close to the end of a level it will crash. I submitted a case in the system and didn’t hear anything for a while. Then all of a sudden received two emails back to back, first one telling me how they were going to try and resolve it and the second saying they were closing the conversation because I was already being assisted which is impossible because I had just received both messages. After losing 900 coins for the 3rd time I almost deleted the app but I’m giving it a few more days to sort itself out before I do that.

SwitchCraft is amazing!!!!!!

I’ve always loved playing puzzles but they’ve always lacked something. SwitchCraft has found a way for me to fall in love with the unique puzzles and interactive story. The storyline is exciting and I find that I enjoy this as much as I would a good book. The sound effects and music track are completely calming. The characters are enticing and nuanced. The graphics and artistry are amazing for a puzzle game. I like that during the puzzle game you’re not being timed. It’s only based off how many moves you make. I like how crystals and casting spells are incorporated throughout the puzzles and the story. I adore Baileys dorm and how much that is incorporated into the game. I am so happy that the game isn’t filled with ads. I only get to watch them if I want extra prizes so it’s entirely up to me. The diversity of the characters and the decision making is the best. I truly look forward to playing this game and where the story is headed. I am beyond happy that I heard about this game. Highly recommend!!!!!!

Even better than expected

I’ve been blown away by this game. The story is riveting, the characters are interesting, it’s LGBTQ+ inclusive, and romance isn’t even the main aspect of the story which makes it feel more realistic. It also doesn’t make you pay to unlock certain choices like some choice-based story games do. I thought at first that the added matching game aspect would be a negative since I don’t usually like them very much, but it’s the perfect combination of luck and challenge that makes it fun to play, and not like a chore that’s necessary to continue the story. I’m not sure how far into the game I am, but I’ve been playing for 5 days and I think I’m still just near the beginning of the beginning of the story.Hopefully things don’t change as I move forward and the game stays just as fun, but so far it’s absolutely amazing! 10/10

Level generator needs big improvement

Updated; Just know that this game can be extremely frustrating due to terrible randomization for the more cramped levels (these will generally be the “super hard” levels that I’ve mostly only been able to get through on pure luck). It makes me absolutely hate the game, despite having a very well developed story, which I adore. To be honest, it’s fun and addicting but the occasional crashes, glitchy frog finals where you clearly used a lot of frogs but the game doesn’t count them sometimes, and the level generator / gem randomization mechanic makes it frustrating to play, to the point where I considered putting it down for good multiple times. Of course, I haven’t. I think the developers know exactly what they’re doing. Like, it never fails to ask you if you’re sure you want to play the level again and lose your progress with the frog count for the frog finals while offering you the option of wasting 900 coins for 5 extra moves (absolutely never worth it), but when you win, it isn’t so consistent with keeping count.

Pretty fun

I’m liking this game so far, I like match/puzzle games and this one has the added story line that’s unique and interesting. I’m on level 788 and it hasn’t become too difficult or impossible to progress like some similar games do, it’s just the right amount of easy and difficult puzzles and it doesn’t try to make you buy things either. There’s very limited ads, which is also nice. I actually wouldn’t mind watching more ads for extra turns or lives. I like getting to choose which way the story goes (for the most part), the only thing I don’t really like is it tries to make me flirt with everyone. Maybe you could pick what your interests are or orientation is at the beginning so it’s not so annoying during the game. My only complaint is that the frogs sometimes go to completely random and unhelpful places. It’s really frustrating when I have one more turn and the frog goes somewhere stupid! Other than that, it’s a good entertaining game.
