This product is one of those few random tech things that really is just magic. It just works and works as promised. I have a lot of homekit products and google products. Firmware upgrades have just happened drama free without me knowing. Really impressed with the engineering behind this. I'm curious if this product has a long term purpose with the agreed Matter protocol, but thats in the future. For now, if you want to control your nest thermostats from mac home app or siri. This is the best way.
This works perfectly. I think it’s missing a couple minor features but the important things work. My Nest doorbell rings on all my HomePods and shows on my Apple TV, I can control my thermostat with Siri or the home app, and my indoor camera works with iCloud video and can be viewed with the home app.
The more I use this app the more potential I see in it. Truly love it, only issue is it’s not Apple certified hub, otherwise it would be perfect. Now if only there was a way to get my Dyson Fans sensors and my Rinnai wifi water heater on HomeKit I would be in Smart Home heaven!
Same features as the website, just easier access. It’s not one of those apps you spend a lot of time in, just set it and kind of forget about it.
Brings my Nest Thermostats, all my Nest Cameras and newer Google Home app nest cameras and doorbell right into HomeKit. Shows notifications on my AppleTV. I can ask Siri to show me any camera feed right on Apple TV. Integrates seamlessly and amazingly- props to the Starling team for creating a no-brainer integration that Google should enable by default.
I love smart home integration and I’m always fighting with some system to get it working right. Starling? Not the case. Hands down the best software for ease of use and seamless networking for my gadgets. I just wish everything else played nicely together.
Does a great job between HomeKit and Nest. Sometimes slow updating video feed on the HomeKit side. Really have not found any other solution. Maybe when Matter is fully out this won’t be needed but for right now it works!
I’ve got a fairly complicated HomeKit setup and for reasons that anyone else maintaining a dual HomeKit/Nest environment understands, I’d be loath to try and replace my Nest devices with native HK gear, where even realistically possible, Google ownership notwithstanding. I’ve used HomeBridge, Home Assistant and numerous custom hacks over the years to tie everything together, with all the hair pulling that sometimes entails. My Starling hub is the one device which has literally *never* failed to work as advertised. In a changing world of HK improvements and slow Nest devolution (thx, Google), Starling firmware updates and feature improvements have been frequent and timely, so much so that I’ve literally bought several new Nest products long after committing to HomeKit. My only consistent ask would’ve been a native app for configuration. 🙂 Here it is and it seems to work perfectly. Bravo, Starling LLC. Way to stay on top of your game over the years!
I was a big fan of Starling Home Hub already and this app just makes me even happier to have and use this system. Starling is always improving the integration and user experience. Thanks!
It was always annoying to figure out the web URL you had to put in to get to the starling dashboard. Now the process is seem less! Thank you devs!
