Some Suggestions Please Read (please don’t use an pre-written response)

Hi, You are probably tired of me updating my reviews all of the time, but I have a view suggestions. Over all this is a great app, but I find myself getting bored of the same stories. I don’t know if you actually communicate with the narrators or the writers, but here are some story ideas. “Airline Slumber” I love planes and having a story about it would be great! “The Australian Train Ride” I love the train stories and the Australian train rides are extremely beautiful. “North Carolina Trails” maybe walking through the woods on a relaxing hike, finally reaching the top of the mountain. Also, I understand it is harder to record two people doing the same story, but I would like it if we could have a choice for a female or male voice. You all are probably working very hard during these rough times, and I would like your team to know that y’all are helping so many people, and all of y’all are worth it. Thank you for helping so much people with the stress of COVID-19. 5 star girl

A life saver

I wanted to wait to write this review to see if this app really worked and if it’s true that it gets better the more you use it. Boy am i glad I waited. I have been having trouble falling asleep at night and wanted to try a natural solution vs medication and started listening to different sound machines on some streaming services. They weren’t enough and I still had trouble falling asleep. When I first started listening to the free sleep meditations I thought it was so silly but I felt my body listening to the soothing voice and actually relaxing. I don’t remember how the story ends because I fell asleep. Now after 56 nights using it I fall asleep in the first 3-5 minutes of putting it on and seriously considering the full version which is only $40 a year ($3 and change a month). I am so happy I downloaded this app and look forward to having good night sleeps for the rest of my life!!!

One time, and it's amazing! Read this!

I had a little trouble falling asleep to the "Leaf in a stream" because I had trouble not thinking about other things, luckily during the segment it relaxed me really well even though I was in the car, close to the end it talked about having random thoughts drift away like clouds in the blue sky, 2 mins before the end I was asleep in a car, with my seat barely leaned back. The only reason I woke up (Just now July 17th around 9:50) is because my dad played the baseball radio station. I loved just listening to it. And it gave me like a 2 min dream that I don't remember much, but I know it was soothing. After my dad played it on his phone I immediately downloaded the app, because it takes me awhile to fall asleep on a daily basis. I recommend this especially for road trips when the car is quiet with headphones. I plan on using this app many times more. THANKS YOU SLUMBER! -Anna's Ratings and Reviews

Best overall sleep app available.

Slumber allows you to pick from several modalities of talk oriented sleep inducing paradigms. Dream Stories are bedtime stories which guide you into sleep and relaxation. Ex: “The Deep Dive” obviously written by a scuba diver, talks you thru a dive so accurate and intense you feel you are actually experiencing the dive. With “The Distant Storm” you feel you are on a beach, w warm sun and sand at sunset, listening to the waves and watching a beautiful storm in the distance. The stories are engrossing yet very relaxing and sleep inducing. Sleep Meditations are less involved w the story line and much more involved w your body and thoughts and tensions keeping you awake. Thru breathing techniques and progressive relaxation you are in almost a state of self hypnosis and gently encouraged to let go of all thoughts and sleep. W both the Stories and the Meditations u set up your preferred background sounds which continue for as long as you choose. I usually use headphones w either my phone or my iPad, since in your background settings there are Binaural beats which encourage alpha stage sleep, but I sometimes just put my head near my device and listen. It’s a wonderful feeling to realize you have been sleeping and you can just turn over and go back to sleep.

Best Sleep App Ever!

I’ve tried a few apps for sleep, and this one is by far my favorite. I tried the free version first, and loved it so much that I paid for a year subscription. This is probably one of my only apps that was worth spending money on. And I mean ALL of my apps, not just the sleep ones.I love that they add new stories and narrations often, and it’s fun that Slumber releases seasonally-appropriate stories (pumpkin stuff in autumn, cherry blossom viewing in spring). You can also toggle a variety of white noise options (rain, birds) to superimpose on the narration if you like. The only change I might suggest is an option to delay the start of the program after the user presses play, maybe just 30 seconds or a minute or two, because after I start the selection I still need to get comfortable and say goodnight to my hubby, and my rustling around makes it hard to hear the very beginning of the story. Still gets 5 stars from me, and will get another subscription from me when my year is up.

Game changer

I absolutely love this app! I did the free version but upgraded to a year’s subscription of the premium almost immediately. Already worth every penny. I don’t have severe insomnia or anything like that, but have for awhile had problems with waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep. I tried Benadryl every night (I don’t advise this - daily use can cause some really unpleasant side effects!) and also Melatonin, but Slumber beats anything else I have tried by a long shot! I use a soft Bluetooth speaker headband and keep it on low all night long. For lack of a better description, it gives my brain something to “latch on” to if I wake up instead of whatever else (snippets of conversations, songs, things I read the day before etc.) is banging around in my head. The stories and voices are soothing (the French Whisperer is my favorite) and wonderfully boring LOL, so I just drift back off to sleep in no time. I just wish I had found this a long time ago. Download it now and buy the Premium, you won’t regret it.

Amazing sleep app

I subscribed to Calm and like their stories. The ones offered here allow the option of background sounds additionally. This is a truly life changing app. I got used to going to sleep to stories with that other app and tried this just before that renewed, which is more expensive than this app. This has taken its place and offers more around sleep specifically versus straight meditation. The options with the free app are great yet subscribing opens all the past offerings. Amazing amazing amazing with different voices and accents so you have plenty of choice. Additionally, this app offers a darker screen that is conducive to use in the dark before bed. Never harsh or bright. The pictures are soothing and relaxing and add to the calm you feel using this app. Sure, use the free one yet subscribe to support the app maker and have many more archives to explore. Excellent. Soothing. Calming. Helps me fall asleep especially when away from home. I don’t even need anything at home to fall asleep just feel comforted hearing it and having it as a routine for sleep. Sets a totally amazing mood. My spouse listens with me and has also gotten used to it in a good way and finds it soothing and comforting.

Favorite Sleeping App

Slumber is my favorite app that I used and I would give it 5 starts for the free version of it. I feel like my availability and freedom throughout the app was very nice for the amount I “paid”. In this app I got to listen and experience music of my choice to fall asleep to. I never thought I could go to sleep so easily with music playing, but it really worked. I got to choose which sounds stood out more and how loud it was. I got to choose from ocean, rain, fire, birds and much more. My personal favorite was the rain and fire. This app helped me go to sleep faster because my mind was focused on the sounds rather than then my thoughts. I also got really good sleep because I had no dreams that I recalled which means no nightmares that woke me up like I usually have. In general, this app was great for $0 and helped me sleep better. The only thing I would recommend is a little bit more availability for the free users in the “just added” category. Lastly, the overall appearance and set up of the app was easy to use and very relaxing and satisfying to look at with the color choice.

Incredible!

I am trialing both the Slumber App and the Calm App. I really love them both but I keep coming back to Slumber. I love that you have full control of the background sound effects. It’s also lesser expensive then the Calm App. They have a much broader selection of my favorites, Soothing Nature Sounds. The sounds are so incredibly crisp, sharp, realistic, hypnotic in a 3D sense and the selections aren’t your typical sounds you find in every other app. They really stepped outside of the box and put much time and emphasis into it. I hate going to bed at night for my own personal reasons, however the Slumber App makes me EXCITED to go to sleep every night! I can’t wait to try out a new sound theme or cozy story when my head falls to my white down fluffy pillow:)) You have nothing to lose to just to try it out for 7 days for FREE! It’s really easy to get out of it if you choose not to keep it. I bailed on the Calm App after my trial and it was as easy as one click so I’m sure it’s the same protocol with this one, but trust me,,,,you’ll probably want to keep it:)) I’m definitely keeping this one! You guys saved my sleeping life! Thank you!!!

Couple suggestions

This app has been really helpful! I used to lie awake at night for at least an hour because my mind is going a mile a minute but now I fall asleep a lot more easily. I do have a couple suggestions though:1. Would love to be able to see more of a historical timeline that tells you which story you listened to on which day and what time you started it. Right now it just gives you a streak number which tbh is a bit stupid because it isn’t always accurate. I’ve listened to stories before and then it doesn’t count them for some reason so my streak resets. 2. This happened to me last night for the first time but I guess I ran into an error in the middle of the story. I don’t know the specifics because I was sleeping when it happened but essentially, the story stopped at some point and then it just kept playing the soundscape in the background. Which is fine, I don’t necessarily have a problem with that if something goes wrong. However, it continued past the length of the story and just kept playing. And that’s the part that I think needs to be fixed because it ended up waking me up in the middle of the night which kind of ruins the whole point of using this app in the first place to fall asleep properly.

Testimonials: "My only problem with this app is it always makes me fall asleep before I finish the stories! Which I guess is the point, but I always try to make it through and never succeed!" - itsmeyoyeah "I haven't slept all night without a sleep aid in ages. I've only had (slumber) for two nights, and I haven't slept like these two nights since I was a carefree kid! I have the Calm app, which also has bedtime stories, and that was ok, but still not a full night's sleep and not a lot of variety. Definitely not the control of content like this app provides.
