Good, but needs a bit of work.

We’ve been using the app for a couple of weeks now. It’s help us put down some areas where we were struggling in an open space (we both have difficulty sharing things with each other right now) and telling each other our needs. What needs work is being able to find what my spouse did. I’ll get a notification saying he sent me something. Sometimes it pops right up on my “to-do list” other times it doesn’t and I have a have to scroll through my “done” folder and start looking through things. I’m sure I’ve missed things because of this.

Some suggestions

I really do like relish, I like the personal couch (even though it seems like everyone has the same “named” person so it seems a little shady to on that front. But other then that the mini lessons are pretty good and help. One thing that I think could make this a much better program and would then make it 1000% worth the $, (Cant even believe I spent that much) is if it would be a little more like the app “lasting”. In lasting, you are able to see your partners responses. I think that helps a lot by giving you an insight to what their thinking and how they really feel about certain things in ways that they might never explain them to you. This is why I LOVE the quizzes you guys give. They are literally my fav part of the whole app. I think that type of insight is wha helps any relationship out the most.

Meh. Not that helpful.

I actually subscribed so we will give it a shot for six months but I’m not sure if it will actually help us address some of the deeper seated issues in our relationship. The quizzes are totally pointless. They have very limited answers and don’t include any concrete follow up steps. The date night ideas are cute but I wish there was a way to bookmark or schedule them or something. There’s no point in reading a date night idea on a Tuesday when the prep involved would make it impossible to do until a weekend. The lessons are helpful but they don’t seem to happen everyday, only sporadically. The Daily Sparks are silly conversation starters like Table Topics- again, not that helpful at actually improving our relationship. The little notes that I get from my partner, written in his own words, are the best thing and the Mindful Moments are good for that. The rest of the features are a whole lot of “fluff” that doesn’t really help you address relationship issues.

Works great for our relationship but is buggy

My fiancé and I love the exercises; it creates a neutral space for us to open up and be vulnerable and leaves an opening for communication when we’re together. The exercises are exactly on point with what we need, and they help to remind us to put our relationship first.That being said, there are a few bugs. For example, I’ll get a notification that my fiancé sent me a new note for a specific exercise. When I go to that note, it doesn’t show me what he wrote, and if I tap on the notification bar in-app that says I have a new note, it doesn’t re-direct. I’m getting notes that he sent pretty late- I just received notes today that were from October 11th. I think it just needs a better flow from me doing an exercise and him doing an exercise. I know that we can choose to do our available exercises in any order, but I’m unable to see when he completes exercises or sends a note when he sends it.

Mending, building, and rebuilding bridges

My partner selected this app out of a list of five suggestions I gave him as a result of infidelity. We have been using it for a little over a week now and I can already see a difference. We are learning about areas in our relationship where we have conflict or the possibility of conflict and the ways to work through them effectively. The app has a major focus on the positives of relationships, which really helps remind me why I was drawn to my partner to begin with. I don’t know if we would be working through this so well without this app. I wish there were more ways to interact with your partners responses to prompts such as reactions or comments and that there was at least one prompt guaranteed everyday. That way you can still connect daily if you finish early. I am also very excited for the journal feature to come out.

Remembering why we like each other

We downloaded the app on a weekend away together (one night 😅) and it’s been such a relationship saver! Covid, new baby, family dynamics shifting with two kids… we became teammates and damage control for our kids schedules but we weren’t paying attention to each other at all. We weren't feeling appreciated and we didn’t even know what to talk about the couple of minutes we had to ourselves when the kids were asleep. But with Relish, we get little prompts that help us refocus our attention on each other even if it’s just a couple of minutes in the day. It’s a game changer for sure.I also love that when we each finish a prompt it sends it to the other person like a little nudge/reminder “Hey I love you, let’s work on our marriage.”

A beautiful start

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever gotten about relationships is that it’s hard as heck but it will only work if both people WANT to try and WANT to be in it. I know Relish isn’t a currar all but it’s such an encouraging and thought provoking path to wanting my relationship with my partner to get stronger and to feel more connected. I think this app does a great job at helping you connect with your partner and learn more about them by getting you to ask the tougher questions. Think of Relish as a support system; it’s not perfect but it’s always going to be there for you if you just reach out.

Interface isn’t great…

I don’t get this app design. Half the time I don’t see the context of what my husband is sending me when he is following prompts in the app. Today was even worse. He wrote out 5 “visions of the future” as prompted by the app… I saw just one and couldn’t scroll and couldn’t see the rest. The only way I knew was he asked me what my 5 were as we were going to bed. Sure enough, in his side of the app, he can see all 5 and on my side… still only see one of the 5 questions and answers. This app just needs some TLC and it could be good. Makes me wonder how much we’ve missed over the past few months because of the poor app design.

Still buggy

Free apps… I don’t care about bugs and don’t worry about rating them lower… it’s free. However, a paid app at this amount of annual fee shouldn’t be so buggy. When you are typing at the end of a lesson and get interrupted (life, work, etc) and have to come back, it starts the section over and you lose all your work. I spent a good amount of time and thought writing a reply to my wife on more than one occasion now, just to have it lost because the app is not made well. I’ve decided to not renew at the end of my year. If the app starts auto saving before then, I may continue to support the developers and renew. As the owner of a SaaS and 11 years in the industry, I know It’s not that hard to cache/save so I’m frustrated it’s still doing this after reporting it several months ago.

No way to use privately

The app requires your phone number before providing any functionality. Apps that take your privacy seriously do not require you give personally identifiable information to them. Instead they make providing such information optional, but not required, to use basic functionality of the app. For instance this app could have required an email address (which can easily be anonymous), instead of a phone number (which are hard to make anonymous). This is likely because they wish to use your phone number to collect additional information from you from data brokers (such as your address, education and employment history, family and associates, etc).If you’re OK with that, then feel free to provide your phone number.
