Bluetooth connection

I’ve never had this product work properly with Bluetooth. It will work when I unplug it from the socket and plug it back in, but once I return home after leaving it on it never connects. It will connect one light but never the other. Or sometimes it doesn’t connect at all. If they advertise this being a feature I wish it would work much better. The positive is the app, its great with different settings already ready for you to play with. There’s multiple ambiance’s they curated for you and it’s easy to navigate through. The lights it creates illuminates my room perfectly.

Great for Small Apartments!!!!

We had tested another lightbulb before. But when we connected it up to the Wi-Fi it went out instantly. This set of lights and the app work seamlessly. Very impressed on how instantly it connects to my phone and I’m able to control my light very quickly and very seamlessly. I’m even able to set up lights to wake me up. The app looks incredible very welcoming and very well designed. I like how you can make different scenes for your lights. I also like that you don’t have to connect to the Wi-Fi to change your light. Perfect for my small apartment and not so fast Wi-Fi.Excellent job Philips Hue!!!

An alright app

My biggest issue with this app is that I have frequent issues with using my Google mini to turn my bulbs on, despite establishing the connection through the app. Because of this, I often have to remove my bulbs from the Google home app and then go back into this app to reconnect them. On top of that, this app doesn’t have widgets that can make turning on the lights significantly easier, especially when they disconnect from my Google mini. Instead, I have to open the app to turn them on when an added widget would have been easier to implement. I was using cheaper bulbs from another company and even they provided a widget that allows you to turn the bulbs on and off, all without unlocking your screen.

Please keep the blue tooth feature separate from the wireless hub

I would advise that the Phillip hue app to be used for the hub only and to keep the Phillip Bluetooth lightbulbs with its own app because of conflicts where the Bluetooth operating on the same app along with the hub created a conflict that the app failed to recognize the hub even thought three blue lights indicator were lit up and solid. I ended up getting rid of both the old and new hub devices because I wasn’t able to troubleshoot the problem area which I felt was a waste of my time and money. I now use Phillip hue Bluetooth lightbulbs in my living room and the bulbs of another manufacturer in my bedroom. I won’t be purchasing the Phillip Wi-Fi hub and these Wi-Fi lightbulbs again for the time being. So it makes more sense to keep the Phillip hue Bluetooth lightbulbs with the corresponding app that enables it to run flawlessly. Please don’t make the same mistakes again.

Best Color Changing Bulb I’ve Used!!

I’ve used these kind of bulbs before from different brands and compared, the hue is actually really reliable. Other bulbs I’ve used have connectivity issues and others have had lag issues. The Phillips Hue is my absolutely favorite light! It never lags and it connects fast every time I open my app. The one time it didn’t connect, I just closed my app and it was fine when I opened it again. The App though oh my.. so many amazing preset colors! And I’ve made so many of my own preset colors. I write music, so that’s important to me when it comes to certain moods. Other apps I’ve used do not have this feature. I highly recommend both the light and the app!

Slow updates (Philips lightbulbs)

This app i cool but the only downside about it is the update takes forever! I’ve literally been waiting over an hour for it to update 1 lightbulb and it’s barely halfway. Yes,I have connection to the Internet my lights are plugged in and everything, and my internets not slow I checked the mph so it has to be the app .. but other than that it’s pretty cool just wish the updates wouldn’t take hours for just one lightbulb.. (update) and to add to it I guess you guys don’t care about your reviews because I don’t see one response to any of your recent comments you must not care about the outcome of your app just the money as they claimed in the comments .. just horrible and because of that it’s going down to 1 star because that’s very unprofessional

Worked out of the Box

I am a firm believer in Phillips; a company, that, to my limited consumerist knowledge, doesn’t not trade in planned obsolescence. I have electric toothbrushes that have been flawless for going on five years, bluetooth speakers that punch reliably above their size and price class, and now these Hue Bluetooth lightbulbs. These are really the only quality option with respect to bluetooth (which make them uniquely qualified to travel as your phone is the hub). I had L!FX, but the wifi limitations and spotty reliability (20% dud rate) did not warrant the price. These aren’t cheap either, but the ease of setup, simple, quality build and expected reliability have got me very excited. Haven’t had them long, but I really, really like them so far. They are the preeminent no-brained in this gadgetry space.

What you expect from a quality But extravagantly priced product

As soon as I screw the lightbulb in and turned on the switch it worked instantly Bluetooth connected super fast colors change quick not a lot of functionality but that is because it is on Bluetooth getting the hub and seeing how much more functionality that brings to the table but all of the product great if you don’t wanna hub and you just want a nice Bluetooth light also good if you want to get into smart lights without paying the premium of the whole set up you can always add the bridge later

New update takes away my most used feature

I’ve had these lights for years and I’m always super impressed with the responsiveness. Before this last update I had nothing bad to say about the lights or the app! But now, changing the color all of the lights at once without picking a scene is much messier and non-intuitive. If I want all the lights to be purple, but I don’t have a scene set for it, I have to pick each one individually and set it, rather than them bundling together like it used to. (Also it seems to always default to the white color wheel rather than the ambiance one… which I also have to switch). It’s nit-picky, but the update makes my experience more time consuming, and it seemingly took away my favorite feature that could easily be integrated back in.

App no longer works for me as 2022

App did what it was suppossed to do for a long time. I have used it to control a single bulb strictly via Bluetooth; no desire to set up a broad network of devices or similar across my home network. Just want to control the one bulb. The bulb itself still works so there's that. I'm giving the app two stars instead of one since I can't rule out Apple's Bluetooth uodates 100%. But I'm leaning more towards Phillips trying to phase this app out and force people onto their other apps that require you to setup everything over WiFi. Hope I'm wrong on this. My next bulb will probably be one I can control with a simple separate remote instead of a phone app. Too much invasion of privacy these days.
