Great app. Feature request

First of all, really great app! I’m in med school and one of the few that learns from textbooks, rather than course material. I use this to read and organize all my textbooks - and I have a lot of them that I’ve collected over the last decade through undergrad, working, PhD, and now professional school. It’s great how I can pick up reading and annotations on my iPad, Mac, and iPhone when efficiency is key. I try to avoid using Apple’s Books, or e-readers in general bc having files in pdf form is more universal. Some medical books I have are 1500+, and so I need to break them up into chapters. Books has cool features, but PDFs and PDF viewer is my optimal workflow. Sometimes, however, I cannot avoid Books because some things are only offered in epubs or I cannot find a pdf version. So I do have one feature request from Books: auto-night mode. Night mode is great in PDF-viewer, and across the board for apple products, but I really do prefer to read in the true color for textbooks, especially for colored figures. At night, I noticed Books auto-switches to night mode if you have that feature turned on. It is really helpful when I am reading in bed before falling asleep and reading. I do not know if this is the place to let what features users want, but thought I’d give it a try. Thanks!

Almost perfect. Feature request.

Great to see this app gaining much popularity since I commented last time. I have some feature requests and bug reports.1. [Feature request] Is it possible to add an option that keeps images from being affected by the color modes (Sepia and Dark)? Otherwise, one must switch modes to view the true color of the image.2. [Feature request] Currently, changing the highlighted color requires clicking on "Color" from the pop-up menu, and then selecting the new color. I hope you can display a few preset colors directly on the pop-up menu. 3-5 colors appear quite reasonable, as people are unlike to use more colors for note-taking. The workflow will be much smoother. (2a) If the length of the menu is a concern, perhaps make it two-row (as MS Word). (2b) Say there are 5 presets and the current highlight is yellow, then displaying only 4 presets excluding yellow also saves space.3. [Bug report] When iPad uses the dark theme and the app has multiple documents open, the tab of the active document is black, whereas the tabs of other inactive documents are gray (thus, lighter). This is counter-intuitive and confuses the user when switching the document to read. There is no such problem under the light mode of IPad.Thank you for your consideration!

Upgrade Significantly Slows Down My Workflow

I use PDF Viewer on my iPadPro with the pencil. I extensively use highlighting with different colors being used to represent different concepts. In previous versions, I could simply change the color of an existing highlight by taping on the highlight and choosing the new color. With the latest upgrade, I need to: 1) Tap on the highlight 2) Choose “Style” from the menu 3) Choose “Color” from the next menu 4) Finally select the new color for the highlight This is a hugely negative in my productivity in using of PDF Viewer, so much so that I am looking for a replacement. Perhaps there is a configuration option that allows me to revert back to the previous style. If so, please make it more obvious. I would previously have rated PDF Viewer 4 or 5, but I am now rating it 1 since this is a huge issue for me.———————-Updated - I am raising my previous rating of 1 star to 5. Per the above, I complained about the change and the developer responded in version 6.2.2 to provide for easier color changes. Perhaps a small issue for mist, but big for me. More importantly, it gives me confidence that the developer is listening and open to accommodating customer feedback.

The reason I gave this app one star is because how it handles app switching on iPad Pro

The reason I gave this app one star is because how it handles app switching on iPad Pro.When annotating a PDF file in this app, I cannot safely switch to a different app. If I ever try to use the screen bottom app switcher, inevitably, I will touch the page slider bar at the bottom of this app. Then the page I'm viewing will inevitably jump to other pages. This design flaw is so annoying. I have to stop using this app and go back to PDF expert for better user experience.I will update this review to 3 stars if the developers fix the design flaw I mentioned above. (Update: It's fixed now. So the review is updatedto 3 stars as I promised.)And BTW, the line drawing function in PDF expert is far more superior than this app: Lines in PDF expert will automatically align to horizontal or vertical direction. And the lines will even align to themselves. These whole bunch of features are missing in this app. Yet this app charges us yearly? Broken deal.I will update the score to 4 if this app charge once, and offers the same experience and functionality as PDF expert. And update it to 5 if this app has the same wonderful Mac OS version as PDF expert.Till then, this app is overpriced and sub-functional.

Great app, but can you add multiple colored pen?

First of all, I really like the design of this app vs Adobe or other PDF viewers out there. I like it’s simplicity and what the free option is offering. However, there’s some minor but rather inconvenient details.1. I use pencils with multiple colors for taking note, and I really want to have multiple pens in the tools windows of different colors. Right now, I have to open the color windows, find that new color down there, and then click again to close it, which takes more time than I used that color (to write the pronunciation of a foreign word). Can you enable customizing tool bar? I just want to pin multiple pens to the toolbar.2. Word selection boundary is strange. When I long press to select a phrase (in Japanese), it often select 5-10 words on that line, and the boundary is somewhat unclear, and I had to adjust both sides. Other apps seem to do better in this regard, so I guess you can call the same API provided by iOS? I’m not sure if this is some unintended behavior of some Smart Selection guess algorithm that falls apart in Japanese language, but sticking to the basic one or two character seems a much better solution to me.Thanks for reading through it, and I hope this will make it to the developers.

Comparable to PDF Expert, but no true editing ability

Having used PDF Expert for a long time I’m ready to find something else due to the ridiculous subscription model and lack of integration with the Mac OS program that PDF Expert has. I tried about a dozen Apps and PDF Viewer was the most pleasant surprise! All the free features here compare with Expert. In fact I prefer some Viewer tools better: the Magic Ink pen, the highlighter behind the text, the full screen viewing with the tool bar to the side, and the ease of opening files (you can go back to the open tabs without opening another file), the Lighter “blend” mode for the pen and the very good color options too; great job! Only a few things I don’t like: 1) the lack of a favorites toolbar (or ability to customize it). Too many clicks to switch between tools. 2) The text highlight tool does not look as nice as PDF Expert. Lose the rounded edges and have a variable text height. 3) The lack of a lasso or snapshot tool (Goodnotes has one and it almost makes that App a better PDF editor than anything else!). 4) the ability to add/create pages from a scan with OCR. If the developers WANT to make something really worth paying for they should offer full ability to edit text and objects within a PDF (original text, not just user added text). Until then I’ll keep searching for the ideal PDF App.

The best PDF viewer and editor available for iPad

I have tried myriad PDF editors annotators and viewersFor iOS and this is the best one hands-down. There are many reviews online that say PDF expert is the best but I beg to differ. PDF expert cannot handle all the types of annotations you may encounter when dealing with a document that comes from a more fully fledged PDF annotator on a PC or Mac. PDF viewer on the other hand can. Also PDF viewer can access the file system of the iPad and so I can open the files that are already being synchronized via dropbox or one drive etc. many other apps seem to use their own version of a file system which hides the native system from view which is very frustrating. In addition to this it renders PDFs fast. Five stars for sure.

Excellent app; another feature request

Update (4/12): Prompt response from the developer, working on resolving my concerns (which are likely setup-specific).I have been enjoying this app very much! I particularly benefit from the ease of synchronization of reading many research articles across multiple devices. However, it seems that the "sync reading position" feature does not work between iOS/iPadOS and macOS (i.e. all mobile devices sync with one another, but neither syncs with the Mac version in either direction). Perhaps this is a problem with my setup. But if it is not - I would love to see this remedied, it would save me a lot of time! Otherwise, everything is fantastic.

Almost perfect, 2 requests.

I love the app. It is my main application for graduate school. I upload my reading lists, articles, presentations, and books and just start annotating. It allows me to add pages anywhere within a document to either import an images of a diagram or just for additional note taking. Creating hyperlinks is another great feature. However, i have 2 requests. 1) a customisable toolbar for both full screen and split-screen modes. A customisable toolbar would help streamline my experience and save me a lot of time. 2) remove the page view from the bottom. It is annoying, it keeps taking me to a different page whenever i accidentally touch it while annotating texts.

Excellent for note taking on an iPad Pro

PDF Viewer is a very high quality app that I would recommend for anyone taking notes in college/school.I use PDF Viewer for taking notes on my iPad Pro in graduate school, and I am thoroughly impressed with the app. Compared to other note taking apps I have used, PDF Viewer has been superior in almost every way. My favorite features are that I can search the PDF text for quick reference, all of my notes sync quite easily with external cloud storage, and backing up my files on an external hard drive is quite easy as all documents remain in PDF format. Additionally, when I have questions, the PSPDFkit team is quick to respond. All interactions I have had with this app and PSPDFkit have garnered 5 stars.
