Used to be a great app

I have used the free version MSecure for many years. I don’t begrudge the company for making a pro version with more features, but they seemed to have pushed out some of the basic features into the pro version to force you to upgrade. If these features had always been on the pro version I would understand, but they started out free to draw in new customers and then were moved up after the app gained more recognition You used to have the ability to create an email backup and automatic sync was a pro feature. This was a bit slow and clunky, but it was nice in the event something happened with my phone. Now all backups are a pro feature and when my wife and I bought new phones this weekend we were left high and dry without any way of backing up our data. Actual quote from this weekend, “Sorry Wife, the app that we have used for years has decided to put the free version of backing up our data behind a paywall and I didn’t notice so our options are to spend $30 right now or just lose the data.” Thanks for that argument. Next feature that is missing is the biometric login. I had touch login on my previous phone, but after upgrading to the iPhone 11 it is now locked behind a $30 paywall. I understand you get more “features” for that $30 than just the biometric login, but why is that a pro feature in the first place? There are tons of apps out there where it is a basic feature so charging money for it seems like a money grab.

Good password manager but force to deal with Ads

I’ve used MSecure since version 4 and paid full price back then so that I didn’t have to deal with subscriptions and pop up Advertisements. As a legacy user of the MSecure we were forced to upgrade to version 5 and or pay for an upgrade. Legacy users were then force again to upgrade to version 6 with an essentials account. With the option of going to a paid subscription for features that I don’t have a need for. Now they decided to have force pop up ads for essential account users. While I understand a company or developers need to make money and survive this also makes for a poor user experience for those who paid full price for the app or upgrade to not have to deal with Ads. So if your not a subscriber even though you paid full price as a legacy used you have to deal with the pop up Ads to upgrade to a subscriber. This action has soured my user experience with Msecure. Aside this MSecure has been a good password manager app if your willing to pay for features and subscription. Because my needs are for only a simple password manager with backup capabilities I may have to now look for alternatives password manager such as Data Vault where I don’t have to put up with Ads and subscriptions in the future. I am sticking with MSecure for now as the pop up ad only appears each time you close the app completely.

Tech Bros are Gunna Tech Bro! Tricked into upgrading to v 5. Anti-consumer.

Update: The developers actually did get back to me: Instead of acknowledging the actual problem and frustration, these tech bro devs pick on the semantics on my review. I would love to read what the TOS was at the time, but their rebuttal is proof that this a futile gesture. Penetration pricing and subscription based apps are a flesh eating bacteria on the future of tech that devs see has a cool new feature! Good News! Your purchase is null and void and as a loyal customer you get to pay for it again, but this time it’s monthly and indefinitely (until we change our minds/tos again)! - I have been using MSecure for 8 years. Worked as needed and bought a full version of the app shortly after, and many versions ago. MSecure slowly booted me from version to upgraded version slowly taking away features I had already paid for before now going to a subscription model. You now need to pay for things that used to be in the free version, so my purchase now gets me less than what their free version even recently included. I am not asking for unlimited technological updates, just for what I paid for in this company’s early stages, but now I have lost for biometric unlocking and now have no way to back up my data even via email which used to even be in the free option. This seems like a lot of companies have disposed of loyalty and utility for that con of recurring rev. Look elsewhere.

You'll be getting more than you bargain for

I bought the $30 version of this app. So far it seems to be OK at its job. BUT! Without prior disclosure, the mSecure app comes with the capability of allowing my ad blockers to be completely bypassed and, for example, allowing a number of big ads to be dropped into and around the newspaper I read daily. Moreover, mSecure has apparently outsourced its customer support work to some third party, with which they are careful to explain they have no connection. This third party--with which mSecure says it has no connection--has no customer support telephone number I can locate. The third party company does have a website but that site has only been capable of sending me around in circles without being of any help at all in solving the problem of the unwanted ads that mSecure has allowed to be inserted. In short, I've found this third party website essentially useless. as a source of assistance. So, I've paid for the newspaper, I've paid for the mSecure password vault, and I've paid for the ad-blocker only to find that mSecure has found a way to bombard me with unwanted ads and no way to turn them off and no way to get a refund.

Great Appđź‘Ťđź‘Ť

First off if you’re complaining after years of using version 4 with a bunch of free updates and now you have to pay $30 for this company to continue to give you updates you are just crazy, cheap and do not understand people have to make money to continue to provide you SERVICES.That aside I understand why a lot of people hated version 5 at first because it was made wrong on the consumers part by not offering different ways to sync but now they offer you many ways to sync and it supports iPhone X (yes this update took forever) and that’s my only complaint about this company is that they are very slow on supporting new features in their updates. I personally would be glade to pay $5-$10 a year if they can update faster with new features that Apple offers. 1Password charges its customers like $60 a year, that nuts. Thanks again for making a great app. 👍👍

Fantastic App

I have been using this App for many years (I think since v2). I love the app and have my wife and kids all using it as well. Sync is flawless between my I iPhone, iPad and laptop. I use this more than almost any other app as I have every website I visit stored in mSecure. It makes it a breeze to stir and retrieve passwords and user names etc. it allows me to keep important data at hand and secure as well as use complicated 8,9,10,12 character passwords that would be impossible to remember for all my banking and financial websites and every other website so it is very hard to get hacked when your digital life is secure and locked down but easily accessed when needed in just a few clicks. Arguably, one of the best appsI own and use and may be the best $20 I ever spent for myself and each of my family members.

This is the real deal!

This current version does everything anyone would want in a password manager. It generates, securely stores and gives easy access to your passwords. This app can be synched with several different storage media and can export your data to a spreadsheet. I actually generate and change my passwords frequently since I got this app, just as one should. I started using mSecure in version 4 and loved it. I was one of the unhappy users that complained about the lack of WiFi synching capability when version 5 came out. Version 5.5 fixed all of that and then some! Synching is fast and seamless so I can keep my iOS devices totally up-to-date, along with my Windows version on my laptop. I don’t like using the cloud, so I am very comfortable with using the backup and WiFi synching functions in this app. But, if you like using the cloud, mSecure gives you several options. Plus, I had a minor problem when I was trying to set up synching, but, no worries, mSeven support came quickly to my rescue. Sorry for all the words - I’m not used to writing reviews and I want to make sure that potential users understand how great this app is.

No local syncing options

I've used mSecure for years, choosing to sync locally with my desktop computer instead of optional cloud syncing such as Dropbox. I feel more secure doing it this way. With this new version they've done away with other cloud syncing and introduced their own cloud server syncing. Again, with all the companies being hacked nowadays I prefer to keep my syncs local. mSecure 5 does give you the option of not using their cloud server syncing, but it will no longer sync with a local computer. You can do backups to the same device that it's installed on, but if something happens to that device, or if you delete mSecure from that device, you lose the backups too. I didn't know that they were removing the ability to do local sync. Disappointing.EDIT 2/8/18: Local syncing is back, and I’m revising my review to a 5 star rating. I wouldn’t be without this app, and would like to add that their support is top notch IF you use the support forums. Well monitored by support staff and quick answers. Don’t bother sending an email as you’ll only get referred to the forums anyway.

Great Producty - Outstanding Customer Service

I've been using the app for a few days now and ran into a couple issues from the start. I sent in requests for help, not really expecting much due to my past experiences with most developers. I had a response the next business day and within another day we had both issues resolved and everything is working well. Outside of the unique issues I had, the app is easy to use and you really don't need much instruction for basic use. And when you consider that it's only $30 one time while the rest charge a yearly subscription of that much or more, this app is an easy decision. We'll be moving our passwords to mSecure.*Update* it’s been a couple weeks now and I’ve had a few questions for customer service. Their response and follow up procedures are great. I’ve actually had two emails confirming that my issues were resolved. Every request for help has been answered and they stayed with it until I figured it out.

Don’t buy this product

So just to set expectations, I’ve used MSecure since version 4. When I was forced to upgrade to v5, I decided to reward the company with some money for a good product and purchased their “pro” membership for $30. I believed they had earned it. Unfortunately this company’s greed knows no bounds. Now they have created a new version (again, which their app forced me into an upgrade of) and dropped the $30 pro membership off the map. They now offer a “premium” subscription (monthly or yearly) if you want to keep same features you had previously. They claim pro membership keeps everything they had (and gets more) but it’s a lie. Here’s just one example. In v5, you had ability to assign a password entry to a “group”, to better organize your passwords. I have a group for my utilities logins, for example. Groups were a “pro” feature, if I recall correctly. In v6, they’ve taken away groups and replaced them with “tags” which can be added to password entries (now called vaults). The only problem??? Tags are one of the paywall-blocked features in their new premium subscription model. So in their greed to make more money, they are taking away features already paid for unless you agree to their subscription. I’ll be moving on to a different product and no longer will support these money grubbers. I advise all of you new to this to do the same.
