Great service! Quick and convenient

I recently placed an order with Mercato and had a great experience!1. First off, love being able to easily support local mom and pops near me, especially with so many of us staying at home due to the Coronavirus 2. My order arrived on time and left at the front desk per my instructions3. I made a large order and one bag of coffee was missing (I had ordered two). I get these things happen so I emailed Mercato and got a refund within a few hours. Great customer service, thanks Keith!Overall an easy experience, great customer service, and I support their mission too. Buy local!

Absolutely AWFUL

It’s impossible to get in contact with them after an order is placed, you’ll receive an automated response and then nothing. The date on my order CHANGED halfway through checkout, I was attempting to cancel the order. I got an automated email response that my request was being worked on. I then received a call several days later that the butcher was still waiting for me to pick up the order. Nobody from Mercato contacted me nor acknowledged my request for cancellation, then when I called at that point I was told there was nothing I could do but pick up the order. Well, now I have $100 of spoiled meat in my kitchen, so thank you Mercato. For nothing.

I love Mercato!! Way better than Instacart

I’ve been using Mercato for the last ~4+ months and have been very impressed. I used to use Instacart for grocery delivery, but I 100% use Mercato now. I love that I can buy my groceries from local stores, the stores always feature everything that I need, and the deliveries have always been super reliable. Highly recommend using Mercato!! :D

Horrible, completely unreliable

This is my first time writing a review, but after my experience I feel compelled to warn other people. I ordered one item to be delivered on the day after. I got a couple of messages on the day of scheduled delivery stating "your item is on its way!". great. At the exact time of delivery, I receive a message stating that "your order has been canceled, we apologize". Not the best thing, since the communications before had implied that everything was proceeding smoothly, but ok I decide to give them another chance. I order the same item from another shop in the app. again all communications and messages tell me that everything is proceeding smoothly. i get a notification stating that delivery is near, the courier will be there in the next 5 minutes. 5 minutes later, another notification tells me that the courier missed me because they could not reach me, and ask me for options to reschedule another delivery. i had been at home the whole day. no ring bells, no knocks, no calls. nobody showed up. My building is in one mayor street in manhattan, very easy to find, and with a doorman. i have never had any problem with deliveries, not once. until today. What a scam. I would have preferred some honesty, telling me that they could not deliver. extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Beware!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

I decided to splurge on the $35 delivery since it was my anniversary, I didn’t know I was going to be treated like dirt by Mercato staff. I asked for a 5-6pm delivery window. It’s 6:39 pm and they JUST delivered. When I called to inquire about the delay, the rep snipped at me “well, we marked it as delayed. So you’re going to have to wait. We can’t control traffic!”I know that. I also know I selected an expensive delivery window and it was missed by a mile and you’ve lost a customer for life. I called the merchant and let them know what I was told and they were horrified for me and are hoping to make it right so I still shop with their company. I told the merchant I recognize it’s Mercato at fault and will never agree to pay an arm and a leg for convenience again. Learn from my mistakes.

Awful customer service!

Placed an order through with Mercato for a catering order a week in advance. After successfully placing a hold on the credit card (by their own account) I got random email saying the credit card was declined. Called customer service and they confirmed the order was in good standing. Received a similar email the following day and called again and they noted they would get it taken care of immediately. Sunday, Mercato cancelled the order. After a 3rd phone call, they said they would escalate it immediately. Emails back and forth started coming and it sounded as if I cancelled the order (which was not the case). They stopped responding and my order was never processed. Had to scramble last minute to get food for the work function. Worst customer service. Would not use again.

BEWARE of purchases. Products are not received as pictured.

Mercato does not make sure their vendors are selling what they say they are selling. I’ve been searching for a specific kind of kn95 masks and was so thrilled that one of their merchants have it as it was listed with the specific picture of the brand I was looking for. When I received my masks it turned out they were the bootleg version and the kind that’s hard to breathe in. They even had a punch hole in the bag so it’s not even 100% sterile! Everything is still sealed but merchant would not let me return. I spent $50 and am now stuck with 10 bootleg masks. Cons: it’s a pretty outdated app and they could use some better user experience on their apps/website.Pros: the shops that deliver are specialty shops

Poor interface experience

I love being able to order groceries online from my local market. They always do a great job. Unfortunately during my shopping, the app froze and when I reopened it, the delivery address had been reset and YOU CAN’T CHANGE IT IN THE APP after placing the order, no matter what the happy sounding recording on the customer service line says. I’ve been on hold with customer service for 15 minutes listening to the same 45 seconds of talk loop. I’m going to claw my eyes out. It’s the worst. For the love of god, play me some smooth jazz or I don’t know, offer to call me back. You know it’s bad when the DMV gives better customer service.

Excellent resource in Brooklyn

We recently started to use Mercato because of the limited grocery options in our neighborhood. Without a car, this is an excellent resource for specific ingredients or access to butchers (ours remains closed). The app is simple to use and all of our couriers have been speedy and friendly. We would definitely recommend and plan to use beyond Covid for speciality items.

Same crap as instacart

NYC first time user - I ordered a total of 8 items and the 3 I actually needed were out of stock. This would be acceptable if I was told about it before check out or asked for replacements. I wasn’t. I tried calling customer service and got Cley who let me know that since the check out has already happened my options were to take the L or tell the driver I refuse the delivery and make them take it back (aka F over the driver). Since I’m not a horrible human I’m going to take the L and never ever order from here again bc I paid an arm and a leg for an order with less than 2/3 of the items I ordered and none of the items I really needed.
