Must-Have for Researchers and Readers

I’ve been looking for an app exactly like this for a while, to the point I had even started working on something similar. This is everything I wanted out of an app: from easy and accurate text recognition, smooth interface, adding notes, tags, and wonderful export options. The interface is clear and responsive. My only recommendation would be to have the option to add a cover photo by taking a photo, rather than just choosing from the album.Otherwise it’s a flawless app. I’ve never written a review before but the developer deserves nothing but kudos for this one. Reminds me of the good-old days of the App Store, before it was saturated with subscription-based apps. It’s a steal as a free app, it’s worth so much more.

The best reading companion

I have been using this app for over a year, and I would enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who also reads a lot. Like any conscientious reader, I inevitably find wisdom I want to hold onto. This app offers the perfect way to save those short selections without forgetting where they came from, and without forgetting where I might have written them down. I can also add a note to remind myself of the context or elaborate on the idea. Since the note is optional, I often leave the highlighted portions to speak for themselves. Reading for research, I find this incredibly useful as well. I can grab quotes and details from whatever I am reading that I may want to include in research reports later. I can note what project I intend to use it for, and search the notes later if I need to pull up something specific. I have put the widget on my main screen. I enjoy being reminded of some of my favorite bits from the books I have read in the past. I never know which quote is going to show up, but since it is choosing from a selection of things I already know I enjoy, it’s always a good surprise. I’m really glad I downloaded this app. It quickly become a favorite and is both useful and fun to have. Plus it isn’t complicated to use. The combination makes it perfect!

Fantastic App!

After a long break I am headed back to school to complete my doctorate. I remember during grad school having to wear out highlighter after highlighter and was not looking forward to it. This time around I decided to see if someone had solved that problem with a reliable app (key word being reliable). I have to say, so far this app has nailed it! The scan function is very accurate and has captured every word correctly so far. The only thing that I have had to do is manually update the page numbers but I’m ok with that. Great job here folks. This app will be a huge help and I look forward to seeing what future updates will bring.

Exactly what I needed!

For ages I’ve wanted an app that would allow me to easily capture highlights and take notes from physical books I read. Evernote and Readwise both had features I liked, but came with other annoyances or were costly because they had a bunch of other features I didn’t care about. I stumbled upon this app and it’s perfect for me! It is so easy to use, and captures all the information I want (easy lookup of book metadata, captures page numbers). It’s dead simple to get your highlights and notes out (*side eyes kindle*) and in a number of formats! If you love reading and want to remember what you’ve read, this is the app for you!

Easily my favorite app on my iPhone now

For the longest time, I manually added all my book highlights into the default iOS Notes app, so finding Highlighted has been an absolute blessing and game changer. Adding new books, as with every other aspect of the app, is completely frictionless and gives me the same sort of satisfaction as watching my physical bookshelf fill up with new books. It’s gotten to the point where I’m reading a lot more than I was before just so I have an excuse to use the app and expand my digital collection of books. Highlighted is extremely clean, both visually and functionally, which I really appreciate. The developer has thoughtfully included only the most crucial features and omitted any feature bloat that you might find in other apps that try to be the jack of all trades, but end up being the master of none. My iPhone experience definitely wouldn’t be the same without Highlighted and I appreciate all the hard work the developer has put into crafting the best possible experience for taking notes on the books I’m reading. Thank you!

Great app!

This is my first review ever (from what I can remember) I’m very excited to use this app! Decided to look for an app that would make it easier to save quotes from the books I read rather than taking a picture and using the markup feature to circle the quote and save it into individual albums in my camera roll. This app makes it way faster to save these highlights! I’ve tried other apps, and there are some comparable ones, but the process in this app is the smoothest and most efficient of them all. A few suggestions:-A feature where I can go through my camera roll to add in all my previous highlights would be great.-The ability to randomly scroll through all my highlights would be cool. I rarely go back to look up the pictures of the highlights in my camera roll unless I’m looking for something specific, so I feel like I’m missing out on a lot of gems I’ve highlighted. A randomized feature would be an awesome way to look back at highlights I might have never otherwise revisited.-Lastly, many of the books I read have diagrams or images they reference to. It would be awesome to be able to attach some of these images to these highlights (just like you can add tags and notes). With these features it would really take this app to the next level. Thank you so much.

Concept Is Great, Functionality Needs More Work

This is a very good idea for an app. I always find myself wanting to catalog quotes in a neat and organized fashion. This gives me that ability, and I would hate to read without this app. However, I find that the scan-to-text is pretty inaccurate. It jumbled words and puts sentences out of order. I end up using tex- to-speech, but that’s not very convenient. Also, sometimes I open the app and it acts like I just downloaded it. It wants me to set it up again? When this happens, I exit, clear the tab, and go back in. This solves the problem. Please work on the technology behind this, and you’ll have a 5 star app in no time!

Love this! Sends my physical highlighting into the future!

I absolutely love this. I always highlight my books and have been looking for a great way to create a centralized “Digital Commonplace Book”My ask for the developers/product team for this app would be for a feature where per book you could add a vocabulary section where you can add new or interesting words found in the book, it looks up the definition automatically once word is typed in or recognized through camera capture and you can add comments &page number like you can do for highlighted sections . A different vocabulary specific tab maybe would be good too?

So Useful!

I read a lot of books on various reading apps and it’s annoying to have them all spread out or have an app that doesn’t allow you to save highlights. I hate being locked in with Kindle’s highlights (what a pain to export them) and it’s a pain having to heavily edit some excel sheet to keep your highlights. Highlighted makes it a breeze to keep your highlights no matter what you are reading on. I’m already a huge fan of this app and use it everyday. It’s already very slick and haven’t had any issues. Thank you so much for this!

Love but has been glitching for months

In general, I really love highlighted. I use it to keep quotes that I find helpful to my mental health and display them on my phones home page. However, for several months now I have not been able to highlight new passages using the picture function. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times, and it still won’t let me do it. This is the main way I enter the quotes as I like to take screenshots of my book so I can keep reading and note the quote later. If this could be fixed the app would be perfect!EDIT: the glitch has indeed been fixed and the app is fully functional for me again! Very pleased
