Fantastically customizable client for reminders

I already felt that GoodTask was worth the $9.99 when I bought it last year, but this developer keeps making it better. Over time, they have made using the app more efficient, they have added more functional customization, and they have added the ability to create and share highly customized visual themes. I was pleasantly surprised at how great custom themes are for making information more recognizable at a glance. GoodTask has a two-week free trial and uses the same data as Apple's built-in Reminders app. All the tasks you have in Reminders show up in GoodTask, and any tasks you enter in GoodTask show in Reminders. When you use Siri to add a reminder, it shows up in both Reminders and GoodTask. If you are using reminders, this means you can try out GoodTask, full-featured, for free, with the safety net of easily returning to Reminders, should you decide not to buy GoodTask after the trial. I highly recommend GoodTask for anyone using Reminders who wants a more flexible and powerful task manager without having to re-create your tasks in a new system.

Exactly what I wanted

This app is exactly what I wanted: It builds on top of iOS Reminders, so you can still natively use Siri, but it also enables features like Due Date (which Apple has inexplicably removed from Reminders, even though the functionality is still there on the backend). And it integrates with Outlook, so you can manage both personal Reminders and work Tasks from a single app (since the Outlook iOS app doesn't allow you to manage your Tasks).I've never written a review for an app before, but honestly my love for GoodTask 3 knows no bounds. A streamlined task management system is absolutely crucial for any professional in the modern age, and the integration of this app into my personal Getting Things Done system has dramatically improved my productivity. I have the Pro version, and it might be the best $5 I've ever spent.

An amazing and great task manager...but

This is clean, simple and complete. It uses the built in reminders for its storage and syncing. This is the one issue. Apple reminders syncs with iCloud. It’s sync is not fast. OmniFocus and Things succeed because they have built their own syncing solution. Today I created a new folder and put some tasks in it, on my iPhone. After 30 minutes these tasks were not on my iPad or iMac. After a few stops and starts the reminders finally propagated. So this is not the solution for me, although it looks great, works great but the syncing and storage is the one weakness. So the app gets 5 stars because the app is doing everything right. However reminders will change in IOS 12 and people must wait for this app to catch up. So I cannot trust my data to this.

Brilliant in so many ways!!

Like most of you who are taking the time to read this, I’ve spent a small fortune over the years buying every single todo app on the market. No, really... name one, any one, and I guarantee you I’ve bought it. Some of them are better at certain things than others, and that will always be the case, but GoodTask is the one that continually stands above them all for me. It’s one of those apps that constantly — and I do mean constantly — surprises me with extra features I had no idea it had. I’m still discovering amazing things, even after almost a year of using it every single day. I’ll often find myself wishing that it could do a particular thing, and to my surprise, an option to make that happen has existed all along... I just didn’t look deep enough. I spent almost 30 years developing software, and seriously, the level of detailed thought that this developer has put into how to make this app do things is off the charts. I’m very impressed!Five stars from me. I highly recommend this app to everyone!

GoodTask has been life changing

Not only is this my favorite app on my phone, it is probably the single most important tool in my life. I was a heavy reminders user already as I have real trouble remembering things, but I had never found a solution that suited my needs nearly as well as GoodTask. The customization allowed me to basically turn the app into exactly what I needed. I am a developer as well and had been considering building my own task manager, but with GoodTask there is no need. This app is complicated and not for the casual reminders user. Reminders is the app for that. But if you have 100s of reminders across several lists or need lists that combine, filter, and sort other lists then this app has the perfect level of complexity. Spend the 5 minutes to customize your task view and quick actions and never look back.

Exactly what I’ve been searching for

Let me start off my saying I NEVER buy apps that are over $0.99. At first I thought I wasted ten dollars, but once I figured out the settings I was able to utilize this app exactly the way I wanted to. My husband and I share family iOS reminders and calendars, but I wanted something more comprehensive for subtasks, and mainly recurring events so I could check off habits throughout the day without having to uncheck a full list every morning. But I also didn’t want to disturb his process and make him download a new app. The other thing I wanted was a place where I could see my calendar events and tasks all in one place, and once I figured out that I could turn off “separate calendar events,” all my boxes were checked. The smart lists were a bonus, as I didn’t understand when I bought it just how customizable they were. I have smart lists for every vantage point that I normally had to manually search in the native iOS app, and I feel like even though there was a little learning curve, it’s going to save me so much time moving forward.

Awesome capabilities & support

GoodTask is an amazing adjunct to Apple’s Reminders. The capabilities the developer has managed in include are amazing, and the UI is spot-on, and it’s for this reason that I find myself using GoodTask often when I previously would have used a full blown Project Management system, and I have all the major players installed on my devices, and many of the minor ones... Capabilities in an app aren’t of much benefit if it requires 3, 4 or even more taps/swipes to get to them, so it’s a lot better to get something you need to remember into a system that you can rely on and know that by the time you get it entered, you won’t have forgotten the other stuff on your mind. This app’s support is also as good as you can get. Replies are not only prompt, but never like the “we don’t do it that way, and you don’t understand because you’re not as smart as we are” ones you frequently get when you make suggestions to the big players in the Task & Project Management apps space...

Good before iOS 13

I bought this app 2 weeks before the new iOS 13 update came out and I loved the flexibility and additional features which iOS reminders did not have. Unfortunately with iOS 13 the app is rendered pretty much useless. I contacted the developer and the answer was “performance issues” and it gets “a little better” with iOS 13.1. The interim solution was for me to not use all my reminders lists (not a solution). Well I can say now that even with 13.1 update it is still basically useless and there is no firm plan on when they are going to resolve the problem. I rarely spend $10 on an app and now I feel like I was ripped off. Don’t waste your money on this until they have fixed the issues with iOS 13.UPDATE: At this point now 3 weeks later the app is still useless. My only option is to go back to Todoist which is a far superior app anyway, I just didn’t want to pay the $30 annual fee. I guess you get what you pay for. Wish the developer would give credit to those like me who unknowingly bought an app which was going to become worthless a few days later.

Impressive

I have spent a couple of days with this app and so far I mostly like it. I have used TD, Things, and multiple other tools trying to get the right flow and fit. I enjoy paper and pen (analog) as much as digital. I am constantly trying to improve upon both from a productivity and efficiency standpoint. The verdict is still out for GT but so far I like the complete freedom to create the flow that fits my needs. The one thing I am seeing is the UI is not as crisp as some of the other apps named above but GT offers so many options that it’s hard not to find something you don’t like. However, I really don’t like how ‘large’ the image of imprint shows up when using a URL to attach or paste in the notes section. Is there a fix or work around for this?? Thank you for taking the time to continue to create and improve this app. I hope it keeps getting better!

If you like Apple Reminders but want more from it, this is the app you NEED

I’m pretty sure this is the most underrated task management app out there. I love many of the features Apple Reminders offers, but need more than its UI gives us. GoodTask solves this problem. GoodTask is a highly-customizable GTD app that uses Reminders as a database. GoodTask effectively sits on top of Reminders, leveraging the features that Reminders has but layering on a lot more. GoodTask and Reminders sync effortlessly and I’ve had no trouble using both apps together (GoodTask makes this really easy, allowing you to open up any task Reminders if you want). But most of my day is spent in GoodTask, both on my iPhone and Mac. I’ve customized GoodTask to resemble a GTD approach, using smartlists, default inbox, and tags. I really like the quick actions and theme maker. Anything I can do to make an app more in line with my preferences is appreciated. If you love Reminders but still don’t like the interface or lack of customization options, or just want some additional features, GoodTask is the app for you. It also ensures that you’re not uploading your tasks and info to some random database, as everything is managed in iCloud. This developer has done some amazing work.
