Remake of classic, not quite as good

Although the graphics and sound and basic concept of gameplay are identical to the original, the controls are not quite as fluid, and the strategy is quite lacking. I played the original a decade or more ago, and spent hours learning the tactics of the enemy sprite waves.. this game doesn’t perfect the balance of the tower powers and the enemy sprites. The “hard” levels are super easy….

Just as I remember.

I don’t know if you are the original developer or if you are a different entity (hopefully with the original developer’s blessing). Regardless, thank you for bringing this masterpiece back to life. Used to play it way back and was sad to see it disappear. Hopefully as time continues you might consider some tasteful quality-of-life updates like an upscaled resolution update and official iPad support. I honestly don’t even need new content besides that. This is an app that was perfect at the time it was made.

I was falling asleep last night and this old game randomly came through my head - I used to play it 10 years ago (!!) and it was my favorite. So I took my phone off the charger and searched to see if it was still in the App Store. The old one has been removed, but I didn’t expect it to work anymore anyways. But I was SO thrilled to see that not only is the game re-created - it’s rebuilt and currently being maintained!Lots of nostalgia here, as this was actually a well-built strategy game that you can just pickup and play and has much challenge to it. Thank you for bringing it back!

Way too hard compared to original

This is my first review I’ve ever written on an app, mainly because I just wanna say how hard this game is compared to the original. Don’t get me wrong the OG Geodefense was hard. But this version of the game is so frustratingly difficult I can’t even beat more than 2 levels in the Easy section. Back when I played the OG version years ago I had beaten every level. Developer, you gotta balance the game and either decrease health of enemies, or increase the damage of towers in general because it’s honestly ridiculous

The. Best. STRATEGY. Game. Period.

This game takes analysis and strategy to win — and especially to win without allowing any of the enemy through — which is what I play for: Completing each level without letting any though at all. That’s the real challenge for me. NOTE TO THE DEVELOPER: THANK YOU SO MUCH for bringing this game back!!! One thing I really miss though is where the number of lives left used to appear in the end point — even after the match was over. I liked to play so every level so that it was a “10” still there at the end. Now the number just disappears. Seems trivial maybe, but could you bring that back? Just so we can be sure of exactly how many enemies we let through?

There is a reason why it was game of the year back in the day!

This is very much like the original. Please note, plan on spending the $3.99 to unlock all levels. This is not the original developer so you will need to spend the money even if you paid for the levels years ago with Critical Thought Games. If you have an issue, please contact the developer, I did and he got back to me. This game is best played on an iPhone or iPod touch. It is annoying on an iPad as it just makes it larger and distorted, just like the original version on the original iPad

An old favorite, but completely unbalanced

I LOVED the old version of this game, and am glad to see it back. However, whereas the original version was perfectly balanced and extremely challenging, with each level requiring a lot of experimentation to find the right combination and timing to master, this version appears to have no tuning whatsoever. A few early levels have some challenges, but most (especially the “hard” levels) are stupid easy. Just pile up a handful of anything and you will win, don’t even have to add anything for the latter waves. The challenge and strategy is non existent. This remake nails the look and feel of the original, but fails the gameplay and tuning.

Good but not as challenging as the original

The original version was just difficult enough that it was like figuring out a puzzle. Sometimes just one tower in the wrong place was catastrophic. For this version, the hard levels were super simple. I never once had a close call. I love the game, but please add difficulty levels for more experienced players.In response to the developer’s question: for some reason, all the hard levels on my app were significantly easier than the medium ones. I’m not sure if it was a glitch or intentional. The enemies seemed far too easy to kill. And slower than they should have been. On all those levels I’m not sure I had even one get through. Maybe it’s just me?

My all time favorite is back!

I was never so happy to see GeoDefense is back! A new developer has resurrected it to play on modern versions of iOS. If you liked the original, or just looking for a great game, check this one out. The Easy levels are free to play, and for $3.99 you can purchase the Medium and Hard levels. I purchased them right a way to support (and to say Thank You, to the developer).

Level difficulty lacking

Great game and nostalgic copy of the original! I was very excited to find it and gave it a play. However, I burned through all the levels in a week. The hard levels, I burned through in a day. They were easier then the medium levels. I remember playing the original for a very long time, but don’t remember finishing it. This new version is pretty easy, especially the hard levels, and should be more challenging for the price, especially the hard levels. Still a classic, though, and nicely remastered. The original used to drain my battery in no time flat. This one seems way more power efficient, and I love that it can be played on the iPad.
