Very pleasant interface. Possibly too gentle?

I just downloaded the app, and I REALLY enjoy the aesthetic of this application. It is very fun to interact with and I’m excited to check back in to see how it interprets my data.I understand this app might be tailored to individuals who are just beginning their wellness/fitness/etc. journeys, but is there a way to raise the “overreaching” limit? Or possibly make the message more supportive? As soon as I plugged in my information Yorhart told me I was overreaching, when actually I’m feeling pretty enthusiastic about my training and life in general right now.Or maybe the “overreaching” limit doesn’t need to be raised. But users are presented with goal options, and based on what goals we select Yorhart will support us differently?- “Recovering from an injury? You might be overreaching.”- “Hey there! Remember if your goal is to balance your personal and professional life, you may be slightly overreaching for your goal.”- Or, “Hey go getter! Congratulations on exceeding your goal once again! Keep up the hard work and you’ll be setting a new goal before you know it!”I hope any of this was worth while, and doesn’t sound too critical. I really enjoy the app, and even though it is literally called “Gentler Streak” I would just love to see a more supportive message when I’m feeling like a go getter. There’s so much potential here. And I will definitely keep using and sharing!Thank you!

Don’t See the Value

Update: I’ve had this app 4+ months now and still do not see the value. I do not plan to renew my subscription and do not think it is worth the cost. Things that don’t make sense to me and could use improvement:- you can only see the last 10 days of your activity path (so you cannot see long term improvements or decline in activity)- any activity that you do that is not logged as a workout does not affect your activity path- many (all?) workouts logged through this app seem to count 100% toward your exercise ring (rather than only counting walking that is brisk enough)- per the previous two points, if I log 90 min. of “Daily Chores” so that my activity for the day is reflected in this app, it counts as 90 min. of exercise in my apple health app- the wellness tab and the activity path don’t work well together. I’ve had days where the wellness tab tells me to take it easy but the activity path tells me I need to step it up or I’m going to fall off my activity pathInitial Review: I’ve been subscribed for at least a couple of months now. I have yet to see the real value this provides beyond the workout tracking that is available and built into the Apple Watch. I am intrigued to see how the Wellness tab possibly enhances this app. BUG: The sleep info in the wellness tab is incorrect. It seems you are only pulling in the sum of the stages of sleep. For example, my health app says I slept 8h 48m but your app says 6h 34m.

Love this! One Suggestion, Please…

Overall, this app is fantastic. I use it exclusively on my Apple Watch. I have a request, though — and I think this is an opportunity Apple missed: I’d like to be able to cancel or abort a workout. I’m a homebody, and use Gentler Streak to track my morning household chores. But there are occasions where I’ve failed to stop the tracker. The next thing I know, another half hour has passed and I notice the tracker is still running. In those cases, a simple cancel button— perhaps beneath the “Done” one, and coupled with a “Do you really want to cancel?” prompt — could stop the workout BEFORE it writes to the health data? I would much rather lose the 15 minutes of actual activity than keep a 45 minute instance I knew was false — I’d rather close the ring honestly and not have workouts later in the day affected by the mistake. Thank you so much!

Great app! Could be even better.

I love the concept and the delivery of this app. I appreciate being able to take a pause and tweak settings so I can prevent disordered eating triggers and I can modify the level of rigor of the app. I love the positivity and that I feel like I can come back after an illness or rough mental health week. I also love that it takes my physical health into consideration helps me keep an eye on my metrics. I can even tell when I don’t use my CPAP machine for a night, which keeps me motivated to use the machine!Features I would love to see, as a currently subscribed user: - Goals. I don’t always have time or energy to work out daily, but I’m not “sick” or “on a break”. Streaks (the app that inspired this app) allows me to adjust the timeframe that I complete my goals, such as 3x per week. In Gentler Streaks, I’d love to be able to set my fitness goals at 3x per week and then if I fall behind, the app lets me know if I need to “step up my game.” - Ability to modify messages. I would like to be able to change the text, for instance where it says “Step up your game.” Making the app more customizable would be better for everyone, no matter the desired level of rigor. Adding these features would make this a 5-star app.

I use them all

I have been using several HRV monitoring apps as well as Gentler Streak. This is my favorite, let me tell you why. I’m absolutely the guy that pushes himself too hard. I have to admit that I keep my score in the top end most of the time and often exceed the recommendation. That’s the beauty of it, I know and have learned to take more days off without guilt. I’ve noticed less burn out. I have a pattern. I go hard for about six or seven weeks and then just burn out. Burn out for me means I’m 100% off the train. I eat poorly, sleep poorly and don’t exercise at all. When I rest more, I go much longer before I burnout. Actually, I probably don’t burn out until I decide to ignore the recommendations. All the HRV tools. They are all over the place. One will tell me to rest, the other tells me I’m sick and the third may tell me I died two days ago. This tool, tends to track to more Jim how I’m actually feeling but just helps me stay reasonable. I’m looking forward to some of the upcoming changes in the app and am curious how the HRV features will help or break the current recommendations. I hope it gets a solid baseline and then sprinkles in some of the common sense built into this tool. I think the others are a little to rigid in the HRV baseline and zones.Great tool folks. I feel this is really well suited for the overall wellness crowd. Let’s face it… the elite athletes will follow much more structured advise.

Best App for a Healthy Relationship with Exercise

I practice intuitive eating and HAES, which means that I explicitly focus on how movement helps my body rather than on calorie burn etc. This is great, but it also means I gave up my usual super motivating factors to exercise, such as closing my Apple Watch rings. For about a year, I struggled to find a new way to motivate myself that felt in alignment with my values.Enter gentler streak! This app has been a game changer in helping to motivate me while still listening to what my body needs. It’s really helpful to see fitness mapped out on a line and get a visual reminder that rest, and not overworking yourself, are important! I also really appreciate the recent updates with the suggested workouts (takes the thought of it which my neurodivergent brain loves!) and the option to remove the food equivalents for calorie burn. My only suggestions would be to have an option to remove calorie counts completely and to “hide” certain articles as they can be somewhat triggering and counterintuitive to someone trying to develop a healthier relationship with their body and movement. All and all though this app is really wonderful with no comparison on the market. I’m excited to see where else the app goes.

Wanted to love it…

Paid for the subscription and in the beginning it worked fine, but after a few workouts the app just kept spinning when trying to save the workout. Contacted customer support and I was advised to restart my watch. I went along believing it would work only having to restart my watch ( an ultra btw ) after every workout. I contacted support again only to have them ask me to use the Apple fitness application which I do not like using because the problem persisted and they had a poor solution for it. The only good thing out of this ridiculous journey is for me to find another app is very consistent at a reasonable price that provides accurate workout details and plays well with the fitness and health apps. I also learned to not trust the editors choice and app of the Year recommendations from Apple at face value. If you are reading, please try these apps out for at least 2 weeks before subscribing.

UPDATED 2/26World class support! The app devs and support staff worked tirelessly to fix the app and with a quick update the app is working flawlessly. It is by far the best and most reasonably priced fitness app out there. The features in the app for the iPhone and Apple Watch are refined and accurate. Well done. You have one happy loyal customer.

I don’t feel so guilty if I don’t over-achieve

I routinely use Gentler on my watch instead of Apple Fitness. For me, it’s easier and quicker to get this one started and to tell it pause and then stop. I arranged the activities so that the one I use most is at the top of the list, which is very handy. The other thing is that this app has a much more realistic idea of how often and how much I can go-go-go, and is nice enough to point out that Zone 2 is fat-busting, when I was being hard on myself about not working harder. Very encouraging! There’s no pressure to do more than I have time or stamina or strength to do. At first, Gentler was very concerned that I needed to slow down. (I actually needed to change my goal.)There have been weeks when I haven’t gotten very many workout sessions in, and I get a gentle reminder that I needed to be consistent. No guilt trip, though. The only problem I have is that I keep forgetting to end my session, and two hours later I look down and see that it’s still going. And sometimes my watch needs charging but I still workout and the app doesn’t know it. Would be great if there was a way to take out or edit a workout that appears much longer than it should be, or add one when I didn’t wear my watch. I didn’t think I would like this so much, but it’s a good motivator for someone like me who is trying to workout to improve physical and mental health, but is not an athlete, and has other things to get done too.

The best fitness app

I just switched from years of using a Garmin to Apple Watch primarily because I wanted to try Gentler Streaks. So far I am very impressed. I am not a huge stats person. Lots of graphs and stats overstimulate me and give me a headache so I really love the interface of this app. It gives me all of the information I need in a very user friendly, easy to understand way. I’m also not an elite athlete. Im just a 44 year old mom trying to stay as fit as I can and this app is really helpful for that! I am very excited about the new update and I think that addition will really put Gentler Streaks over the top in comparison to some of the other apps out there. If I was to give any criticism it would be that there is no way to edit a workout. I would like to be able to rename my workouts and occasionally edit the distance if the app distance doesn’t match up to what my treadmill or bike says. It would also be nice if it would track steps and offer a complication for steps. I understand why they might not want to focus on step goals etc as this app is focused more on being reasonable and gentler on ourselves but I do like to get in a minimum amount of steps per day and look at it as a valuable metric. Thanks for making such an awesome app!
