User Reviews for Galaga Wars+

Only have one gripe about Galaga Wars +

Been playing this and the other older versions on many models of iPhone. One problem has always been an issue with every version of the game. Whenever I pause the game and put it in the background, if I don’t come back and resume it within like 5 or 10 minutes, the game will crash and start from the beginning. Anybody know how to fix this? Super annoying.

Fun but new version confusing

Glad to see the Elite mode addition. I had maxed out all the ships and levels, so these breathed life into the game again. But I have no idea how to upgrade the ships now. No amount of coins seem to matter. There’s no indication of what I need to upgrade the ships now either. Feels broken.

Ok if you’re willing to grind

The game itself is similar to other Galaga titles. I enjoyed some of the classic BGM and how they incorporated other Namco Bandai titles like Xevious, Starblade and even Katamari. After about a week, I unlocked all of the levels and achievements. What’s next is unlocking the rest of the ships which as other reviews have mentioned, is a tedious process because you can only gain a max of 11 credits per day. And once you unlock the lower level ships, it takes a while to unlock the others.Other nuisances that detract from the game are some of the awful power ups. Power ups like the explosion shot or barrage shot have a lower fire rate than your standard shot, which I feel is a disadvantage. There are a few gameplay bugs like the ghost effect not working once your twin ship leaves, power up/rapid fire icons slightly shifting on screen, and your ship gets repositioned after you rescue a ship and the twin ship docks alongside yours. Also, don’t kill the app if you’re collecting credits, otherwise when you relaunch, the game won’t recognize the credits you’ve collected, but will recognize that you’ve already collected those credits from the levels you played (and you’ll have to wait till the next day).

Fun

This is the best game I've played on an iPhone; hands down! Reminds me of the good old Galaga days! Such a fun and challenging game! I keep looking for something similar, but no such luck! Very well-designed! The controls are easy and simple! The UI is beautiful and intuitive!

Enjoyable, repetitive, but what game isn’t?

This is one of those games that I can start playing and lookup and realize two hours just went by. I like games that require effort in order to progress. It just kills me when I see all these users giving a game bad reviews because they have put effort into leveling up. That’s bad? I guess now days everyone would rather open the game on the first play through and be awarded every power up the game has to offer. How boring would that be? Anyway, yes, it can be a grind but it’s fun. Some of the power ups are kind of meh but the difficulty of sector 10 and 11 are a good challenge which make it exciting when you actually you beat the Sec 10 boss to move into Sec 11. I do like that there is a timer on upgrades and credits. I feel this gives a good reason to keep coming back each day to play more. If these measures weren’t in place you could easily blow through this game in 1 day.

Brings back memories from the good ol' days.

Love the game overall but the thing that is keeping me from giving 5 stars is the new Elite Mode upgrade. On several occasions, the game will stall out and stop sending enemy fighters and then you pretty much have to quit your game with your progress being erased. I can only get to level 9, not because of the difficulty, it's due to the fact that the game stalls at a particular point in the level. Always at the same point. Fix this issue and I'm giving 5 stars all day long

What a disappointment!

The game seems fun until you get to some of the higher levels or the glitch just decides to show up earlier. You have to fight this scorpion looking boss at the end of some of the levels and this boss will totally disappear from the screen and shoots progressively more difficult rounds/bullets at you until there is no way for you to escape. While this is going on you can’t score any points because you are basically shooting at nothing. Add to that the phantom bullets that hit you out of nowhere and the last sector, as far as I can tell, that just never ends or you have to deal with the aforementioned bullets shot at you by no one and/or the indestructible enemies who somehow keep shooting at you after being hit 5-7 times!! No thank you! I understand that games get progressively harder and expect it, but when there is no logical way for you to win it gets quite annoying. I’m done!

Time will tell

They added Nightmare Mode, which was hard. Got through it piece by piece so I could play endless mode. Then they added the Cosmic Challenges, which are challenging enough but the rate at which they are made available is tedious. However, I figured that I would slowly be able to level up my ships until I was able to get through Nightmare in one run. Now they’ve replaced it with Elite Mode, which is fun but not as hard as Nightmare. I can get farther in one run than I could when it was still Nightmare. So now I feel like I will be strong enough to play through Elite sooner than I would have been with Nightmare and the Challenges will serve less purpose. I hope the developers consider adding Nightmare back at some point, in addition to Elite. But since Cosmic Challenges are released so slowly, it will still be a while before I know the relative difficulty of Elite Mode.

Now what?

Fun game, I remember when it was an actual arcade game. But I’m frustrated by the fact that there is no way to spend coins and credits once you have all the ships and all the extras on each ship. And now I’m just waiting for challenges so I can increase ship ranks but that really isn’t that interesting. Also, maybe some new challenges instead of the same ones. Getting pretty bored with ricochet and vip escort etc.

Alright so the games good and very fun just needlessly full of grinding for a better ship, with a timer in place to scan for the objects you need for the ships then you have to grab it while in a fight and may lose the credit if you wait 6 or so seconds. The worst part for me though is the fact that on the boss fights this little invincible jellyfish alien will come at you and literally hit you no matter what, the hit box on this thing either exceeds the image of the object or maybe it just long in the front either way no matter what I do to get around this fool I die. Very irritating, other than that this game could be hella fun maybe get rid of the timers in the Apple Arcade version tho?? I don’t get timers in games, you’d think that game devs would want people to play their game and upgrade their ships without waiting or having to spend double to “fast forward” what a great era in gaming!! Can’t wait till console games and pc games hop onto this band wagon. I mean at this point might as well add in adds every three minutes in every video game and add a timer on top of those. Games got annoying when people stopped making them for the right reasons😔
