Well executed. Not so much content

I beat the game w each character. On my last character, I got all 5 master rounds. Not only did I not get anything special for beating it w the final character, I didn’t unlock a special boss or weapon for my immaculate run. I was very disappointed. On top of that, all those NPCs I’ve saved over the first few runs, I’ve seen only one of them during any of my future runs. Not sure if there’s a special trigger I’m missing, but it seems like the encounter rate needs to be increased rn. The breach seems kinda empty; all I can do is buy more things to encounter for future runs, and swap characters.Aside from these small squabbles, the content that is there is quite good, well polished, and v fun. Def worth the price of the arcade subscription, but may not be enough to keep me around forever (I haven’t played ocean horn 2 yet...).

Nearly perfect, just one or two minor bugs

This game is great and I have had plenty of fun with it in the little under a month I’ve had it. I would recommend it to anyone interested in downloading it, as you can easily log multiple hours in it on the go or at home. I only have two problems with it: one: the untitled gun seems to glitch out sometimes and just not fire, making you have to wait for the gun to change while dodging bullets. Two: I believe the achievement for getting bello’s stools might be impossible on my current save file. Despite having 36+ hours on that file and having nearly every other achievement, I haven’t been able to get him to trigger the dialogue to initiate his ‘side quest.’ Other than those two things the game is practically perfect and I have no other complaints.

An enjoyable disappointment

For context, Enter the Gungeon is my favorite game ever, meaning that this game had high expectations for me. This game’s premise and gameplay is astonishing, having as great of a feel as the original in its difficulty and humor. Where this game lacks is in its bugs. Numerous glitches or irritating mechanics happened throughout my gameplay. The fact that roll bombs and guns with explosions hurt you is ridiculous intentionally or not, not being able to get a fifth master round after beating the final boss without taking damage is furious even though it technically wouldn’t be used, the medusalier turning completely invisible if you pause during its fight is just horrid, and (this might be isolated to me) not getting the rat to sell me a key for the hat vendor after twenty or so rounds of playing is irritating. This game’s gameplay is purely phenomenal, but the amount of broken this game is really holds it back.

Good but a few bugs

This game is awesome, it is a unique version of enter the gungeon, that I would suggest trying if you have or want Apple Arcade, but I did find a few bugs within the game itself and things that I would think could improve it, first bug is a big one, if you pause during a boss and unpause, I can’t tell but u might also need to turn phone off, but then when you unpause it makes the game super laggy and the boss goes invisible with all of its bullets, also you almost immediately die. The second bug is that twice I bought something from accusations department, it was fat bullets, and then I’d turn my phone off and when I hop on, I still can buy it but it didn’t give me my H$ back. Finally a improvement that I think is minor but could help, is during the one npcs Classical Game, being able to buy the camera farther behind the cannon, so you can shoot with more force without risking having ur hand go off the screen.

Controller essentially required

Game is a blast, but only with a controller. The game just doesn’t work that well using touchscreen controls; it may as well be a totally different (worse) game when using them.Content is... lacking? I’ve rescued tons of NPCs, most of which I seldom/never encounter. I’ve completed the game with all seven characters, I’ve gotten all 5 Master Rounds, yet the rightmost door still remains boarded up. No reward for all Master Rounds is particularly sad considering the 5th round is totally useless as the game ends immediately after. Seriously - no Bullet Hell secret final level? There are some glitches. I found one where it kept letting me play the Flappy Bird Rip-off minigame over and over without costing me any shells, regardless of if I won or lost. I ended up playing it so many times that I started receiving duplicates of his items (which DID seem to stack?). Fun bug, but a bug nonetheless.

I REALLY ENJOY THE GAME!

Been playing the game for awhile now and i have to say its really fun if you like alil difficulty and strategy to your games. Im hooked on trying to clear all the character routes in the game. Havent unlocked everything of course but thats the fun of playing over again to get better and better. I dont waste my tokens on hats since theres really no support from them other than wasting your tokens for looks. I will point out that whoever was the creator or developer who made the “quad laser” i specifically want you to know that your an IDIOT! Why would a SUPER SLOW square be useful in any situation especially when u stick it with me during a boss level! Either re-create it or trash it all together. Its the worst weapon of them all in my opinion and i never wanted it, but i was forced to buy it to clear the store for new weapons. Other than that dumb mistake the game is really enjoyable and look forward to any updates on this.

Love it, one problem I’m having

I never played Enter the Gungeon, but nevertheless, I really enjoy this game. It’s really difficult (I’ve never gotten past a second boss) but it’s really fun. One problem I’m having that I’ve seen a couple other people mention too: when I try to buy the H4MMER in the shop in the breach, it spends my “hegemony credits”, but doesn’t “send” the gun to the gungeon or remove it from the shop. But overall, fun game, nice challenge.EDIT: I lowered my rating to 4 stars because the problem I mentioned is a bit more serious than I thought. Apparently you literally just can’t buy guns in the shop in the breach. It spends your credits, but doesn’t give you the gun. You can buy items, but I think the shop only gets new stock when you empty the old stock. So if you can’t buy guns, you can’t buy items. And buying items and guns in the shop is the only way I know of to progress besides just getting better at the game.

This game is super fun.. if i could keep my progress

I am a huge fan of rouge-like games. I have beaten ENTER the gungeon multiple times and different devices. So you can imagine how excited i was to play another gungeon themed game. I was intrigued by the 2D style of this game. When i originally played it my first thoughts were “this game is really easy” which is fine because there is a hard mode. but… i’ve noticed of late that if i ever don't fully finish an entire run and tab out of the game for like 20-30 mins, I will loose the ENTIRE progress of that run only keeping the credits (i think). I understand that this game is shorter and you can beat it pretty quick but honestly, It gets super repetitive, even with all the character options, they all just feel like reskins of eachother. Also the hat collectibles are more of just big distractions and dont add alot to the game (even though it takes multiple runs to even get a single hat sometimes). I dont see these issues ever getting fixed either because its just the game….Where is the save and quit button? why are the hats so annoying? why is the game so easy/short. It just seems like a throw away game.

Better than I expected

I’m a big fan of Enter the Gungeon so was pretty excited when I saw this, but at the same time didn’t have the highest expectations as console to mobiles usually aren’t very good. To my surprise I actually really enjoyed the gameplay. I found the touch controls to be much more intuitive than I expected, and find myself playing on my phone a lot. However, I was really excited to discover that when I play with my DualShock controller on my Apple TV it uses almost the same control mechanism as Enter the Gungeon on PS4. However, I must say I wish they incorporated the more controlled jumping feature from the touch controls. I feel with some levels that extra precision is almost necessary.

Great bones but marred by bugs

After spending more time with this game than any other Apple Arcade option it’s easy to say that it’s one of my most—and least—favorite games on offer. The concept is great and after getting used to the touch controls I didn’t experience them as an impediment. I like the various weapons, the bosses become more tolerable after multiple play throughs, and I feel a degree of mastery that comes from multiple play throughs. The problem is that this game is phenomenally buggy and seems to have been abandoned by the folks who made it. There are zero day bugs which still haven’t been resolved, many of the game mechanics don’t behave as they should, and it feels like the designers don’t care. Guns and power ups disappear after being purchased, forcing you to rebuy them. Vendors come and go at random, with no explanation. Hats still make no sense at all, and there’s no explanation offered for why they even exist. One particular mid-run encounter vendor offers unlimited tries for zero money, a bug SO OBVIOUS it really signals that the devs have abandoned this game. This game is fun, but very, very badly put together, which seems to be the hallmark of many Apple Arcade games. Until the bugs are addressed this is a 5 star game in a cloak of buggy misery.

Description

Exit the Gungeon is a bullet hell dungeon climber immediately following the adventures of the misfit ‘Gungeoneers’ and their journey for personal absolution in Enter the Gungeon. The Gungeon has become a paradox and is collapsing! Armed with an ever-changing weapon, an insatiable need to loot, and the trusty dodge roll, each of our heroes must ascend and escape via their own unique route of increasingly perilous elevators.

Battle against the last and most bitter of the Gundead at a frantic pace, slowing down just long enough to chat with some familiar faces… and a few new ones. Shifting rooms, enemies, bosses, bizarre weapons and items all combine to ensure that no two attempts to Exit the Gungeon are the same. Also, you can wear hats. Everybody loves hats, and spin-offs, which this game is… of Enter the Gungeon.
