Absolutely perfect game!!!

I really enjoyed playing it on iPad. During these 3 days Since the time of purchase, I have played it nearly a hundred times. It is really addicting. I am definitely going to buy the physical game as well.

After all these years...

It is still my most loved iOS game. Hands down. Just a beautiful game all around. Fun, difficult, frustrating.....while my family plays the board game too, this version is perfect for the times when I can’t get the kids to play.....absolutely great game!

No, absolutely not fun

I like the Cthulhu mythos and normally enjoy these types of games, but definitely despise this game. The slot machine quality of gameplay on normal difficulty felt rigged in a weak effort at simulating the kind of challenging play that is traditional to games in the mythos genre; I did not bother to experience the undoubtedly more extreme rigging that must take place at higher difficulties. Wow, am I disgruntled over the wasted money on this fraudulent experience. Thankfully I didn’t throw away any more on in-game expansions. 👎

Gorgeous and wonderful version of the game

I love this tabletop game and so I was very interested to see how this would translate over into an app since it is so involved. This app did not disappoint and is a perfect version of the game. I would even say it really clears some extra questions I had about the board game rules up too! It's clean, the graphics are great and it plays easy. I love playing four different investigators and using their abilities. I found it was much easier to almost win. Definitely worth the price!

Fantastic

In all seriousness, this is one of my favorite iOS ports of a tabletop game in existence. It gives a nice taste of the mythos, and provides just enough of a challenge to still be fun.If I were to offer one criticism, however, I must say I miss being able to skip cutscenes. I don’t want to have to sit through that long intro every time I play.

A shame that it seems abandoned

I like the game but it has bugs and could use some love. Twice I’ve completed all the conditions of a task, and it won’t complete. You either have to fail it to get out or feed dice to the abyss even though there is nothing left to get. When the game is over, the summary needs to be better, and it would be nice if it tracked your progress with the monsters.

Play Balance?

Way back when the Earth was still cooling game designers had a concept called play balance, with the goal of making the game challenging and interesting without being frustrating. Apparently those days are gone. This game is too random, like a Vegas slot machine, with advanced challenges thrown at the player at any level and often in the very first turn. The result is that you can have a lot of experience with the game and think through every move and still get sandbagged early. Not fun. Been a Mythos fan since the age of ten.

If you haven’t played the physical game, do not buy this!

This app is one of the worst board game adaptations I’ve ever seen. No tutorial, no tool tips, really no indication that the ‘glyphs’ you ‘summon’ are dice being rolled. No convenient reference showing which dice have how many of each result. I had to read about 20 pages of digital rule book to even guess at how to use the UI, and even then, things like items you can buy in the shop appear as plain icons with no text description of what they do until after you buy them. Really wanted to like this game, and have given it multiple tries.

Hands Down My Favorite iOS Boardgame

So many boardgames that make it onto iOS just don't capture my imagination, but this one's different. Maybe it's the fact that it's cooperative rather than competitive. Maybe it's because winning is so rare that you can enjoy a good game even if you lose. Whatever it is, this one's my favorite, and I'm glad they took the time to update it to 64-bit.

Description

**Please note that this verision of Elder Sign: Omens is iPad only. The iPhone version is sold separately** “GAME OF THE WEEK” - G4TV.com TOUCH ARCADE - 4.5 out of 5 148APPS.COM - 4.5 out of 5 GAMEZEBO- 4.5 out of 5 BOARD GAME GEEK - 3 out of 4 The tense excitement of Elder Sign is now available on your mobile device! Elder Sign: Omens places you in control of up to four intrepid investigators, as they fight to keep all-powerful Ancient Ones from invading our world through a museum’s arcane exhibits! *Build a team of unique investigators* *Explore an ever-changing museum* *Face challenging arcane tasks* *Save the world from absolute destruction* *Expand the horror with two exciting in-app purchases* Can you stand against the impending arrival of a malevolent Ancient One?

While Elder Sign: Omens brilliantly conveys the spirit of the Elder Sign dice game, a few noteworthy differences were adopted to optimize the mobile play experience: -A limited number of available Ancient Ones streamlines the game play experience while offering adjustable levels of difficulty. Face Yig in normal mode, Azathoth or Tsathoggua in hard mode, or Cthulhu or Ithaqua in very hard mode (in-app purchases required to face Cthulhu and Ithaqua). -A number of subtle changes increase the peril of defending humanity. For example, the random negative effects drawn every midnight are more challenging, and the frequency of “no effect” results has been decreased. Monsters have likewise been altered to make them more difficult. -Finally, there are no Ally cards in Elder Sign: Omens, which further streamlines play while increasing the overall challenge.
